Statement of COVID and Our Season from XACT

xactThe Board of Director’s for Xenia Area Community Theater has been diligently following updates and guidelines regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and taking into consideration the impact it is having on the public and local organizations and especially the health of our volunteers and patrons. As such, we are looking at each of our upcoming events on a case-by-case basis and determining the best course of action to protect everyone’s health while continuing to meet our mission, and provide a little much needed entertainment in this difficult time.

RUMORS, previously scheduled to open March 27, is now postponed for at least 8 weeks. We still hope to perform this play later this year, depending on the COVID situation.  Ticket holders to RUMORS may request a refund by calling the theater at 937.372-0516 now, or wait for a final announcement on the status of the play.  We will hold all sales and reservations for the future dates.

  • MAY 4th VOICES, planned for the 50th Anniversary of the event this May, is cancelled.  The play will be seen next February as part of the regular XACT 2020-21 season.
  • RABBIT HOLE, planned for May 8th, is also cancelled.

We continue our updating  to the Coterel Art Gallery and plan a grand re opening gala later this spring or summer, again dependent on the COVID situation. Our facility will remain closed until then.

ACTUALLY, Educational Programming, Off the Hill and Off the Grid Series Cancelled at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

The CDC has recommended banning gatherings of 50 or more in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Our first priority is to ensure the safety of our patrons, artists, staff and the general public. Unfortunately, this means all upcoming performances of Destiny of Desire and Actually have now been cancelled. While it breaks our heart, community health and well-being is of the utmost importance in this extraordinary time.

As you may or may not know, the Playhouse is a non-profit organization. Though we do earn money from ticket sales, we also rely on the generosity of people like you. Please consider transferring your ticket to a tax-deductible donation to support us in this uncertain time, and help get the theatre back up-and-running when that time comes. We truly appreciate your consideration.

If you have a ticket to a cancelled performance, you can:

  • Donate your ticket and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value
  • Credit your ticket value toward a future performance
  • Credit your ticket value toward a 2020-21 subscription
  • Refund your ticket price

For the safety of our staff, the Box Office is running with a limited crew or working remotely. Please submit your ticket requests through the forms linked by show below. You will receive a confirmation via email once your request has been completed. If you’d like a call, please include that in the request box at the bottom of the form, and a Patron Services staff member will contact you within 10 days.

Future Performances
We are currently investigating the possibility of postponing Agatha Christie’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS and BECOMING DR. RUTH until the summer. Please be patient and bear with us until we are able to determine the feasibility of this plan. If we find this isn’t possible and the shows are cancelled, you’ll have the same options for your tickets as listed above. We respectfully ask that you hold off on these requests for now. Thank you for your support and patience during this extraordinary time.

Education Programming Update
We’ve also decided to exercise caution and cancel all Off the Grid and Off the Hill performances, as well as acting classes for the remainder of the season — even though these performances are under the governor’s guideline. People with tickets to these programs and performances have been contacted separately to take care of their tickets.

GUARDIAN ANGELS FOLLIES Postponed to 2021

GAF_Follie the Yellow Brick RoadIt is with a heavy heart that we announce that this year’s production of FOLLIE THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD will be postponed until 2021. After much deliberation, we feel that it is in the best interest for our cast, GA Parish, & community at this difficult time in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.

We appreciate all the hard work our cast, directors, choreographers, & production team have put in so far this year.

All tickets paid by credit card have been refunded. Please check your email with the refund information. For other ticket purchases and/or if you purchased program ads for the 2020 show, please contact gafolliesproducers@gmail.com for info on how to receive your refund.

We will keep everyone informed of the 2021 dates when they become available.

All Performances of END OF THE RAINBOW Cancelled/GEORGE REMUS Rescheduled at The Carnegie

TC_logo_newTHE CARNEGIE CANCELS ALL PERFORMANCES OF END OF THE RAINBOW Production Originally Scheduled For March 21 – April 5, 2020 

(COVINGTON, KY) – The Carnegie has been closely following and monitoring COVID-19 updates to ensure the health and safety of our guests, artists, volunteers, and staff. While the organization has proactively implemented strategies recommended by public health authorities and government officials, The Carnegie has decided to cancel all performances of its spring production of END OF THE RAINBOW, originally scheduled for March 21 – April 5, 2020.

COVID-19 is greatly impacting all industries, and the arts are not excluded. END OF THE RAINBOW ticket holders can convert their ticket to a tax-deductible donation to support The Carnegie’s mission, transfer their ticket to a 2020-21 season show, or transfer their ticket to be put towards a 2020-21 season subscription.

“The past few days have been an exercise in trying to be ready for the worst while hoping for the very best. I know the time and talent the cast and crew have devoted to END OF THE RAINBOW and it saddens me to not see that come to fruition,” says Kim Best, Executive Director of The Carnegie. “However, canceling performances is necessary for the safety of our patrons, staff, volunteers, artists and community. We would like to thank our supporters for their understanding and we encourage everyone to support one another during this challenging time.”

The Carnegie also announces additional operations impacted by COVID-19 including the following:

  • Carnegie gallery hours are suspended and will be reinstated on Wednesday, April 1. Upon reopening, additional measures will be established including enforcing social distancing by limiting the number of patrons allowed to view the exhibitions at any given time.
  • The opening reception for Open Source 2.1 and Jessie Dunahoo will be rescheduled at a later date.
  • The staged reading of GEORGE REMUS will be rescheduled in August 2020. Ticket holders will receive communications from the Box Office with more information.
  • The ArtStop Artist Series and Camp Carnegie All-Stars production of BOTS! have been postponed until further notice.

In the interim, The Carnegie encourages continuing standard precautions for patrons, including frequent hand washing, avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth, as well avoiding close contact with people who are sick and anyone feeling ill to remain home as much as possible.

All Performances of TWELFTH NIGHT Cancelled at Middeltown Lyric Theatre

ALL PERFORMANCES of TWELFTH NIGHT have been cancelled.

We hung on as long as we could. But with the newest mandate from the Governor and recommendations from the CDC, we must CLOSE.

We know this is a loss for everyone involved in the show, as well as our patrons. We thank everyone for their support. More information about the future forthcoming.
