Important Announcement Concerning COVID-19 and THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Village Players of Fort Thomas

VP_new logoMarch 27, 2020, Fort Thomas, KY— In the interest of keeping our patrons as informed as possible in these rapidly changing times, Village Players of Fort Thomas is formally announcing the removal of The Last Five Years from its previously announced April 2020 performance dates.

This decision is in response to Governor Beshear’s COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines to maintain safety for Kentuckians and our neighboring states. Village Players of Fort Thomas will fully comply with the governor’s orders and do our part to help flatten the curve so that we can return to producing quality, local theatre as soon as it is safe to do so.

While we had hoped to share our definitive plans for the future of The Last Five Years, there are still several unknowns. The talent that producer Meagan Blasch and director Nathan Henegar assembled for this show is second to none, and we want to explore all possibilities and resources before announcing a final decision.

The Board will soon discuss the remainder of our season, including our planned annual New Works production, and will share information as soon as we have firm answers.

Patrons who currently hold tickets for The Last Five Years should reach out to Village Players at (859) 781-3583 to discuss options, including donating the tickets, requesting a refund, or exchanging them for a future performance.

Thank you as always for your patronage and support of the arts. We look forward to seeing all of you in the theater again soon.

Village Players of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, is a vibrant community theatre that has produced plays and musicals for more than 50 years. Performing in an intimate space, you will feel like you are part of the action, sitting inches from the actors on three sides of the stage. We strive to appeal to a broad audience, producing three main-stage shows of varying styles and a children’s show each winter. Village Players is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT), Association of Community Theatres Cincinnati (ACT), Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA), and the Kentucky Theatre Association (KTA).

WRONG WINDOW Cancelled at Beechmont Players

BPI_logoAs more information and government mandated bans are announced throughout the state in relation to the COVID-19 health crisis, the Beechmont Players board of directors has made the difficult decision to cancel our May production, WRONG WINDOW.

With the CDC’s recommendation of organizations to not hold gatherings of more than 50 people for the next several weeks, this interferes with the opening of Wrong Window. We refuse to risk the safety of our patrons, cast, and crew so cancelling this production is in our best interest all around.

In this trying time, dozens of organizations are having to cancel their productions in order to be in compliance with the mandates set by the State Department of Public Health. If you have tickets to a live performing arts event which is canceled due to COVID-19, including Beechmont Players, please consider donating your ticket to the organization.

If you would life a refund for your tickets, please call our box office at 513-233-2468 and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for your understanding in our decision and we hope to be back on stage here soon. Any future updates will be posted on our website, beechmontplayers.org, as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages.

wh_logoDue to social distancing efforts Walterhoope has decided to postpone all live performances of 13TH AND REPUBLIC to a later, undetermined date.

In the meantime, we are rising to the challenge and view this as an opportunity to expand the ways in which our audiences can experience 13TH AND REPUBLIC.

Our goal is to work with high-quality studio recordings of the music and performance to create a separate and uniquely-special work of art. Thank you for your support and understanding; I will be in touch as we move forward.

CASPER THE FRIENDLY MUSICAL
In times like these we can all use a friendly little ghost story. TCT’s entire MainStage production of CASPER THE FRIENDLY MUSICAL is now available to watch online for free for a limited time!

Take a virtual field trip and enjoy the show which appeared on the Taft Theatre stage in October 2019.  This new musical adaptation created for families of all ages, CASPER THE FRIENDLY MUSICAL delights, entertains and teaches everyone how to uncover the greatest treasure of all. The show was directed by Roderick Justice and choreographed by Eric Byrd.

Vaporized 50 years earlier during a freak lightning storm, Casper and his three uncles are living a rather uneventful life in the family mansion, until Magdalena Monteverde, their former housekeeper, appears late one night. She seeks the deed to the house…not because she wants to live there, but because she believes the deed contains a secret message that will lead to great fortune. During a frantic race to find the deed between the mansion’s ghostly inhabitants and those determined to kick them out, young Casper, his unforgettable uncles and his new friends learn important lessons about family, fearlessness, and the greatest discovery of them all – friendship.

A huge thank you to IATSE Local 5, The PPS Group, writers Stephen Cole and Matthew Martin Ward and Universal Theatrical Group with NBCUniversal for making this online streaming option possible.

SUFFRAGETTES: WITH LIBERTY AND VOTING FOR ALL
The TCT On Tour production of SUFFRAGETTES: WITH LIBERTY AND VOTING FOR ALL is also available free of charge and is a great curricular theatrical performance for students to watch while they learn at home.

In 2020, the nation celebrates the Centennial Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in the United States – the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote. Viewers can experience the empowering history of the brave women who made triumphant strides through sacrifice and determination. Through story and song, children and adults can learn about the great gift these women left us – an empowering heritage of pride, momentum and purpose. From 1920 to today, these women are a constant source of strength and inspiration.

The production was written and directed by local playwright, Mary Tensing, with music by Tracy Walker—who has been at the forefront of Cincinnati’s independent music scene and whose style sits at the crossroads of Folk, Rock, Country, Jazz, and Blues.

The 4-person cast includes members of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati Resident Artist Company:  Whitney Daniels, Lauren Everett, LaShondra Hood, and James Stringer Jr.

SLEEPING BEAUTY
Coming soon!  A clever take on the classic fairy tale, this new rock musical comedy, which TCT premiered on the Taft Theatre stage in April 2019, is packed with humor, heart and a powerful message! This inspiring production will also be available to watch free of charge for a limited time online.

The impulsive but courageous Princess Aurora (who prefers “Rory”) doesn’t quite fit in with the other princesses in ‘Princess School.’  After meeting her prince by kissing a frog (because how else do you meet guys in Princess School) Rory sets out on her own to discover all the Kingdom has to offer. Along the way, she encounters her evil Fairy Godmother, the Magnificent Magnilda, who placed a curse on Rory when she was a child, causing her to fall into a deep sleep. This sleeping beauty will awaken only with a kiss from her prince. Once she is fully awake and ready to rock, the feisty Princess Rory begins a whirlwind quest to save her Princess Schoolmates: Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, the Snow Queen and Rapunzel, and defeat Magnilda.

Story and book by Ken Jones, music by Jamey Strawn and lyrics by Christine Jones.  The show was directed by Ken Jones and choreographed by Eric Byrd.  Kevin Frisch and the Frisch Marionette Company designed the show’s 20-foot dragon – which you might have seen in Cincinnati’s BLINK Parade last fall.

A huge thank you to IATSE Local 5, The PPS Group, and writers Ken Jones, Jamey Strawn and Christine Jones for making this online streaming option possible.

CSO and Pops Concerts Cancelled Through May 31, 2020

CSO_logo2In compliance with Governor Mike DeWine’s standing mass-gathering restrictions and his recent directive to stay at home, and in an effort to protect audiences, musicians, employees and the community from the spread of COVID-19, all remaining CSO and Pops concerts and events through May 31, 2020 are canceled.

The ongoing restrictions on assemblages of more than 10 people became immediately problematic for collaborative art forms such as ours to continue with rehearsals and production plans. Thus, it is with heavy hearts that the remaining performances this season must be canceled, including the CSO’s collaboration with the May Festival.

CANCELED:

  • Lollipops: Peter and the Wolf Sensory-Friendly Rehearsal (March 24)
  • Chamber Players: Manny Ax & More (March 27)
  • Manny and Mozart (March 27 & 28)
  • Lollipops: Peter and the Wolf (March 28)
  • Young People’s Concert: Plugged In (March 31)
  • Beethoven 8 + Sō Percussion (April 3 & 4)
  • CSO Night/Light (April 4)
  • CSO Artist-in-Residence Guy Braunstein in Recital (April 16)
  • Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev (April 17 & 18)
  • CSYO Philharmonic Spring Concert (April 18)
  • CSO Proof: Surrealist el Tropical (April 22)
  • Chamber Players: Mendelssohn & Braunstein (April 24)
  • Mendelssohn + Strings (April 25 & 26)
  • CSO/CSYO Side-by-Side Concert (April 28)
  • DreamWorks Animation in Concert (May 1, 2 & 3)
  • Mozart’s Paris (May 8 & 9)
  • CSYO Concert Orchestra Spring Concert (May 9)
  • CSO/CCM Diversity Fellows Musical Matinee (May 9)
  • Mahler 3 + Adolphe Premiere (May 16 & 17)

Please note that the April 14 concert with Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers is currently postponed with a new date TBD, pending scheduling capability.

The Louis on 125: The Luminaries event on April 30 will be streamed digitally on Facebook Live. Please visit the page to stay up to date with more details as the event approaches.

These cancellations will have a significant financial impact for the Orchestra. We are especially appreciative of our generous supporters who will consider donating their tickets for a tax credit. Throughout our 125-year history, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has navigated challenges and continues to thrive because of the strength of our community. Now, as always, we are grateful for our community’s extraordinary support.

How can you help?

Donate your tickets for a tax credit. Nearly one-third of audiences so far have chosen to donate their tickets for cancelled performances, which helps the Orchestra during this extraordinarily challenging time.

Subscribe. Show your support by ordering your season tickets for the 20/21 season now. We look forward to seeing you back in Music Hall when we can all be together again.

Donate. To help ensure the CSO’s future, please consider the role music plays in your lives and support your Orchestra with a gift of any amount at cincinnatisymphony.org/donate.

Thank you for your continued support of the CSO and Pops.
