SHAWNEE LIVING HISTORY TOUR Staged Preview Readings on May 20-21

CFTI_logoCaesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc will present staged preview readings of its new historical outdoor theatre production, the Shawnee Living History Tour, on Saturday May 20, 200 at 7:00 PM and on Sunday May 21, at 2:00 PM at the Xenia Area Community Theater 45 E. Second Street Xenia, Ohio 45385. Admission is free.

All American Indian roles will be read by Tribal Citizens of federally recognized American Tribes.

Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc seeks a Costume Professional for two upcoming short films as part of the “Virtual Performances Project.”

“Paul Laurence Dunbar: An American Poet” and “Col. Charles Young: An American Patriot” are set in Ohio in the early 1900s.

Seven Year Old Boy Needed for Virtual Play Shoot at Caesar’s Ford Theatre

DESCRIPTION: Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc will be producing three 8 to 10-minute virtual plays about the history of Ohio. The first play is an excerpt from the outdoor drama Caesar’s Redemption by Kane Stratton.

The play recounts the life of Caesar, an escaped African slave, who was adopted by the Shawnee Nation in the late 1700s (Caesar’s Creek is named in his honor). The role is for a 7-year-old boy (plus or minus one year) who is Caucasian and has the ability to run. (A parent or guardian will need to be present during filming)

LOCATION: One scene will be filmed at Caesars Ford Park in Xenia, Ohio (site of the former outdoor drama Blue Jacket) and another scene at George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, Ohio.

DATES: October 9th and 10th, 2020

Outdoor Drama returns with the presentation of 18 new short works based on Ohio history performed over two weekends (one at Atherton and the next weekend at Caesar’s Ford Park). Free Admission. Picnics permissible. Come prepared for cool weather. Wheelchair seating available. Interpretation services for deaf provided with one week notice. In case of rain, performance held at Xenia Area Community Theater, 45 E. Second Street in Xenia.

Auditions Announced for HISTORY IN ACTion: A Festival of New Historic Drama at Caesar’s Ford Theatre

Caesar’ Ford Theatre, Inc is pleased to announce auditions for HISTORY IN ACTion: A Festival of New Historic Drama.

Auditions will be held Saturday April 13, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and Saturday May 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Auditions will take place in the second floor meeting room of the Xenia Branch of the Greene County Library 76. E. Market Street Xenia, Ohio 45385.

Theatre Practitioners are asked to prepare a short monologue from a play or movie and read from one or more scripts. Those wishing to audition for a part in a 30 minute version of a new musical about the Wright Brothers are asked to prepare a one to two minute song.

The festival will consist of staged readings of a number of 10 to 30 minute selected plays about the history of Ohio and is scheduled for September 14 and 15, 2019 at the Atherton Outdoor Amphitheatre in Fairborn, Ohio (near Wright State University) and September 21 and 22, 2019 at Caesars Ford Park Outdoor Amphitheatre near Xenia, Ohio (site of the former “Blue Jacket” Outdoor Drama).

There is diversity in roles available. African Americans and Native Americans are encouraged to audition.

Ten to 15 actors both male and female ages 18 and up are needed. No roles have been pre-cast except for the Narrator. Actors will read multiple roles.
