CINCINNATI, OH – Fifth Estate Entertainment is proud to announce the mind-blowing, face-melting, nothin’-but-a-good-time, audience-favorite ROCK OF AGES will return to the stage with a Tenth Anniversary tour beginning this fall. Nominated for five Tony Awards® including Best Musical, the all- new production will play the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall for one night only on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

It’s 1987 on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip when a small-town girl meets a big-city rocker. As they fall in love in L.A.’s most famous rock club, ROCK OF AGES allows fans to rock out once again to their favorite ‘80s hits. Featuring the music of iconic bands such as Styx, Poison, Twisted Sister, and Whitesnake among many others, this Tenth Anniversary production features a dynamic new cast revisiting the larger-than- life characters and exhilarating story that turned ROCK OF AGES into a global phenomenon.

ROCK OF AGES opened April 7, 2009 on Broadway and played more than 2,300 performances at the Brooks Atkinson and Helen Hayes Theatres earning five Tony Award® nominations including Best Musical.  The show also enjoyed successful national and international tours and, in 2012, was turned into a major motion picture by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures.  With a book by Chris D’Arienzo and arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp, the tenth anniversary tour is being directed by Martha Banta and choreographed by Janet Rothermel.

Production Technician Sought by Aronoff Center

caa_logoThe Cincinnati Arts Association seeks a Production Technician to join our team at our Aronoff Center for the Arts location. The Production Technician works in conjunction with the Technical Director to coordinate needs for events held in the Jarson-Kaplan and Fifth Third Bank Theaters; and supports productions in the Procter & Gamble Hall (Aronoff Center for the Arts).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Production Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain technical readiness of stages and support areas
  • Coordinate with the Technical Director and events staff on needs of shows
  • Shares responsibility with other technical staff members for maintaining equipment
  • Ensures compliance with backstage safety and cleanliness policies
  • Educates, evaluates and oversees production personnel (local union and outside production) on proper operation and use of equipment
  • Represents the venue as a liaison and guide to outside productions
  • Serves as running crew on shows as needed
  • Works at special negotiated rate for designated

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of theatrical stage components including sound equipment, lighting equipment, rigging, staging equipment, etc. Strong theatrical design and coaching abilities are a plus. The desired candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to exercise good judgment independently. The desired candidate also will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; a high level of organization and attention to accuracy; ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while promoting patience and flexibility; will be able to multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines; have schedule flexibility (work on nights and weekends will be required); and the ability to regularly exert physical effort in work involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, carrying, crawling, and pushing/pulling of objects.

HOUSE ELECTRICIAN – Aronoff Center for the Arts

The Cincinnati Arts Association seeks a House Electrician to join our team at our Aronoff Center for the Arts location. The House Electrician works with the Technical Director to coordinate event and production lighting needs. The position manages, maintains, and operates theatrical lighting systems and equipment to ensure the timely and accurate realization of all performance related lighting elements.

Responsibilities:
The House Electrician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating production information with incoming technical personnel.
  • Supervising and directing the crew during the lighting hang, focus and operation of theatrical lighting and electrical equipment for performances as needed.
  • Training personnel of proper use of house equipment.
  • Operating the house lights and lighting console(s) and related equipment as required.
  • Ensure all lighting equipment is set-up in a safe manner and adheres to professional standards.
  • Inspect, repair and perform maintenance on all lighting and electrical equipment, systems and accessories throughout the season.
  • Assist other departments with setup, strike and restore of all show equipment including set, props, rigging, projections, and audio when applicable.
  • Serve on running crew for performances as directed.
  • Maintain inventory of lamps and other lighting equipment.
  • Carry out additional theater related tasks as directed by the Technical Director or Director of Operations which may be considered outside the scope of theatrical/performance lighting activities.
  • Keep abreast of new and changing trends in industry to remain current, while increasing knowledge base and expertise.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years related experience required; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities. Experience working with Broadway theatricals and/or experience with pyrotechnics a plus, but not required. The desired candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to exercise good judgment independently. The successful candidate will have excellent computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; a high level of organization and attention to accuracy; ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines; schedule flexibility (work on nights and weekends will be required); and the ability to regularly exert physical effort in work involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, carrying, crawling, and pushing/pulling of objects.

(Cincinnati, OH) – Cincinnati Music Theatre (CMT) and the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) are pleased to announce the casting of its premiere cabaret LOVE IS LOVE: A Cabaret of Broadway Songs About Love at the Aronoff Center’s intimate Fifth Third Bank Theater on February 9-10 and 16-17 (see detailed schedule below). CMT has attracted some of the area’s top local talent and theatre veterans – many of whom have performed in past CMT productions – for this premiere production through a new partnership with CAA.

Sitting at tables with a drink in hand, audiences will hear Broadway classics, old and new, about the many different aspects of love. In the premiere production of a partnership between CAA and CMT, beloved songs such as “Seasons of Love” (Rent), “Love Changes Everything” (Aspects of Love), “My Funny Valentine” (Babes in Arms), and “Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun” (Irving Berlin’s White Christmas) will be sung by CMT’s top talent. It’s the perfect show for a Valentine’s date or a special evening with friends!

Musical direction will be by Michael Spresser, who is co-creating the cabaret with acclaimed local director Skip Fenker. Michael has over twenty-five years of music teaching and publishing experience and has given editorial guidance to composers such as Eric Whitacre and Stephen Schwartz. “I am truly thrilled to work with each member of our cast,” said Michael. “This new venture with CAA is the perfect opportunity for our community of actors to be involved in an intimate evening of charming music from the stage.”

The witty and touching musical revue will be created by Skip Fenker (Director) and Michael Spresser (Musical Director), and produced by Karen Galliers.  Sitting at tables with a drink in hand, audiences will hear Broadway classics, old and new, about the many different aspects of love.  Beloved songs such as “Seasons of Love” (Rent), “Love Changes Everything” (Aspects of Love), and “Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun” (Irving Berlin’s White Christmas) will be sung by CMT’s top talent. LOVE IS LOVE is the premiere production of a partnership between CAA and CMT to produce Broadway-style cabarets at the Aronoff Center. CAA has been operating and managing the Aronoff since its opening in 1995, the same year CMT became one of the venue’s founding resident companies. The 50+ year-old community theater offers exceptional productions of new and classic Broadway musicals, created and performed by some of the finest theatrical talent in the region. The cabaret partnership is a new venture for both arts organizations.

“The Aronoff Center’s Fifth Third Bank Theater is the perfect venue to showcase CMT’s remarkable talent, and we believe that the intimate and comfortable cabaret setting will  make for a memorable evening out,” said Todd Duesing, Cincinnati Arts Association’s Chief Operating Officer. “ We look forward to working with our friends at CMT to create a new entertainment experience for musical theatre fans of all ages.”

In a true spirit of collaboration, CAA and CMT are co-presenting this premiere cabaret production, with CAA managing the operations and marketing and CMT directing and producing the revue.
