BASED ON THE NOVEL BY GREGORY MAGUIRE

CINCINNATIWICKED, Broadway’s biggest blockbuster and Cincinnati’s most popular musical will return to the Aronoff Center September 13 – October 15, 2017 as a season special for the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati’s 17/18 Season presented by TriHealth. Tickets for the return engagement are on sale now and available at the Aronoff Center Box Office downtown at 650 Walnut Street, online at CincinnatiArts.org or by phone at 513.621.ARTS.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Godspell, Academy Award®-winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (“My So Called Life,” “Once And Again” and “thirtysomething”), WICKED is directed by two-time Tony® Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Vagina Monologues) and features musical staging by Tony® Award winnerWayne Cilento (Aida, The Who’s Tommy, How To Succeed…). The musical is based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.

The Broadway sensation, WICKED, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin, who is smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade,” and by Time Magazine as “a magical Broadway musical with brains, heart, and courage.”

Winner of over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED has been performed in over 100 cities in 14 countries around the world (U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, The Philippines, Mexico, and Brazil) and has thus far been translated into six languages: Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, Korean, and Portuguese.

WICKED will play the Aronoff Center from September 13 – October 15, 2017: Tuesday – Thursday at 7:30PM, Thursday September 14 at 1:00PM, Friday at 8:00PM, Saturday at 2:00PM and 8:00PM, Sunday at 1:00PM and 6:30PM. T[HERE] Blends Dance, Theatre, and True Stories with ANONYMOUS at the 2017 Cincinnati Fringe Festival

T[HERE] is pleased to announce its first Cincy Fringe Festival production, ANONYMOUS. This hour-long play uses modern dance, spoken word, and original music to explore challenges of identity and belonging in a city where it’s too easy to remain unseen.

Directed and choreographed by Mandie Reiber with a script devised from hundreds of nameless letters written by citizens of Over-the-Rhine, ANONYMOUS provides an honest, intimate window into the heart of this city.

The show will run between May 31 and June 10 at Gabriel’s Corner (1425 Sycamore Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202) as part of the 2017 Cincy Fringe Festival. Tickets are $15.

This show is appropriate for teens and adults. To order tickets, visit cincyfringe.com/the-lineup. Performances are:

  • Wednesday, May 31 at 7:00pm
  • Saturday, June 3 at 6:30pm
  • Wednesday, June 7 at 7:45pm
  • Friday, June 9 at 8:30pm
  • Saturday, June 10 at 6:30pm

About the Company:
T[HERE] began when Art Academy of Cincinnati student Mandie Reiber set out into the streets of Over-the-Rhine to interview strangers about their challenges. Over the course of a year, more than a hundred anonymous stories evolved into an hour-long performance of dance, poetry, and original music created by Mandie and her cast of eight multidisciplinary artists. The performance, entitled “T[HERE],” was presented at AAC in 2016 as Mandie’s thesis exhibition. The production was awarded the Stephen H. Wilder Traveling Scholarship from AAC, and proceeded to perform at SOS Art Festival and on the streets of Rochester, NY. The next installment in the project, “The Devil Made Me Do It,” performed at Contemporary Dance Theater in November 2016 and focused on mental illness and suicide. T[HERE] is now producing its first Cincy Fringe Festival production, ANONYMOUS which pulls its script directly from interviews and anonymous letters from OTR citizens. Mandie and her cast are passionate about using art as a language to tell true, local, and relevant stories. Learn more about T[HERE] and read some of the stories at thethereproject.com.

He went on to revolutionize the making and marketing of holiday music. His first Christmas album was released in 1984; the album’s success made Christmas records a “must do” for all music artists.  With more than 40 million total records sold including 28 million Christmas albums, Mannheim Steamroller founder Chip Davis is the #1-selling Christmas music artist of all time.  Davis, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the music industry, offers a rich array of lifestyle products on www.mannheimsteamroller.com including hot chocolate, food, apparel and novelty items.  His latest achievement is creating a cutting edge psychoacoustic technology that is being used in major medical institutions such as Mayo Clinic.

“SIX PACK: VOLUME 3” follows 2016’s “I’LL HAVE ANOTHER…CHRISTMAS ALBUM,” the world famous a cappella group’s sixth full-length release and first full-length holiday release in seven years. Widely beloved for their trademark takes on Yuletide favorites, Straight No Chaser made their now classic debut with 2008’s “HOLIDAY SPIRITS,” followed in the next year by “CHRISTMAS CHEERS.” Both albums reached the top of the holiday charts at Amazon and the iTunes Store and are now certified gold by the RIAA. Like the preceding “SIX PACK” and “SIX PACK: VOLUME 2,” the new EP continues Straight No Chaser’s long history of bringing their unique touch and inimitable vocal style to a stunning range of contemporary standards. Their most recent non-holiday release, 2015’s “THE NEW OLD FASHIONED,” saw the renowned group putting their matchless touch upon songs spanning The Weeknd and Radiohead to Bob Dylan and Atlantic label mate Charlie Puth.

About GEN & MABEL
From last year’s Producer’s Pick Award winner (Baby Mama) comes a heartbreaking queer dramedy! Gen and Mabel like each other. A whole lot. So why can’t this relationship seem to get off the ground? As they try to shortcut their way to intimacy by baring their souls, they break each other’s hearts repeatedly in tiny, devastating ways – and then come back together. A story about trust, lust, and the quest for connection.

About Caps Lock Theatre:
Caps Lock Theatre does funny, ugly, human plays. We like plays where people are at both their worst and their best; where people screw each other—or themselves—over, and have to find a way to deal with it; where people’s hearts hurt, or open, or blossom. We also believe in fun. Our plays will probably make you laugh. Probably more than once. And, we believe in creating art by whatever means necessary. If we are fortunate enough to piece together enough resources for lavish sets and fabulous special effects, awesome. If (more likely) we have to make work on a shoestring budget, on-the-fly, in an unconventional location, then we’ll do that and still knock your socks off. capslocktheatre.com
