LEMONADE Presented Online by Equality Productions

EP_logoOn December 13 and/or 20, see the outdoor recording of the talented cast of LEMONADE written by James Prideauxdirected by Ed Cohen, and produced by Equality Productions with assistance from Falcon Theatre.

LEMONADE features a pair of Midwestern housewives who find themselves one afternoon trying to escape the boredom of their lives by selling lemonade on the side of a highway.  Along the way, we learn how much each needs passion and drama in their lives, true or not.  Funny and sad at the same time, LEMONADE reveals how desperately we seek to avoid the mundane and how little people really know what’s beneath the surface in their friends and the people we meet every day.

The talented actresses who volunteered their talents to raise money for Falcon Theatre are:

  • Katey Blood as Mabel
  • Eileen Earnest as Edith

TO RECEIVE THE YOUTUBE LINK for the recording, send a donation directly to Falcon Theatre @ https://falcontheater.net/patron-information/

The suggested donation is $10, but donate what you can. Then email equalityproductionscincy@gmail.com how much you donated so we can total the donations given.

In return, you will receive a link to the recording on the show days. The recording will only be available to view those two days.

Equality Productions produces online theater and is expected to raise nearly $2000 in 2020 for charitable organizations in the US and Canada. Its mission is to produce theater that focuses on the voices of women, people of color, and the LBGTQIA+ communities.

The Human Race Theatre Company, Dayton’s premier professional theatre, is pleased to announce an “Encore Performance” of its 2017 world premiere production of 26 PEBBLES by Eric Ulloa – in recognition of the 8th anniversary of the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut.  The production, a fundraiser for Sandy Hook Promise, will appear on the streaming platform Broadway On Demand from December 16 – 21, 2020.

“In the long list of mass shootings in our country, “ states Human Race Artistic Director Kevin Moore, “this one stands out so strongly because the victims were so young. Playwright and Broadway performer Eric Ulloa went to the community, interviewed the people of Newtown, and created this powerful play that looks at how the community came together to heal and find their way out of tragedy…to hope.”

This week of performances will serve as a fundraiser for Sandy Hook Promise – the organization founded by families of the victims to create a culture that prevents violence, ends school shootings and other harmful acts against children.  “However, a secondary benefit exists,” said Moore.  “This compelling and hopeful story of a community working together to ascend from tragedy is a lesson that many communities could very much use right now.”

The original production was directed by Igor Goldin, and the cast included Christine Brunner, Gina Handy, Scott Hunt, Jennifer Joplin, Caitlin McWethy and Jason Podplesky.  Production Stage Manager was Lexi Muller.  Scenic Design by Scott J. Kimmins; Costume Design by Jessica Pitcairn; Lighting Design by John Rensel; and Composer/Sound Design by Jay Brunner.

Tickets will be available at Broadway On Demand starting December 9th.  A single viewing is $10, with an option to add additional donations.  All sales & donations will benefit Sandy Hook Promise.  For more information and links to buying tickets, visit www.humanracetheatre.org

TDW Home View Theatre Presents DENISE’S DO-OVER

TDW_Denises Do-Over promoDenise’s Do-Over by Susan Decatur is available for viewing on December 4 as the fifth installment of The Drama Workshop’s Home View Theatre series.

Ms. Decatur’s comedy about a divorcee entering the world of online dating was a natural choice for this series explains TDW Production Vice President Dennis Murphy, “When discussing Home Brew plays that would make good Home View choices, we were struck by the idea that with a few minor alterations, Denise’s Do-Over could be re-envisioned as a play about singles meeting thru a video conferencing site rather than on the phone.  An extra bonus was that the actors could all perform from the comfort and safety of their homes. Add in that the show’s director, Amanda Emmons-Shumate, was already familiar with this technology and it was a win-win-win situation!”

Peggy Allen plays Denise, a role that she played in the premiere of the stage version of the play.  Kristy Rucker plays Denise’s friend who convinces her to try online dating.  Chris Bishop, Rob Bucher, Jim Swarthout and Jim Waldfogle play Denise’s video dates.

Tickets for any of the Home View Theatre productions can be purchased at http://www.thedramaworkshop.org/homeview or by calling the box office at (513) 598-8303. Single videos are $5 or you can subscribe to the whole series for only $25.

Other Home View Theatre titles include:

Stranded Traveler, written and directed by Eric Thomas, a play about someone asking for money at a bus stop who is challenged to be honest about the request. It features Chris Bishop and Stephanie Klein.

Local Legends was directed by Alexa Justice and features seven local storytellers relaying their favorite ghostly tales. Some of the stories are related to Cincinnati history. The storytellers are Adrianna Marie Boris, Jeb Brack, Greg Hand, Kat Jones, Kat Klockow, Carolmarie Stock and Bill Stringer.

A Paranormal Investigation into The Raven, written and directed by Dennis Murphy, features Besty Bossart and CJ Bossart. Ms. Bossart plays the host of a paranormal investigation show, who is trying to get to the bottom of why a lovelorn man (Mr. Bossart) is being tortured by a phantom raven.

A Better Place, written by Eric Thomas and directed by Scott Unes, featuring Scott and Susan Unes. A man who’s having trouble getting over a breakup, asks for a ride from a rideshare driver. She agrees to take him on a voyage of the heart to get him to a better place, emotionally.

The Gift of the Magi adapted for the screen and directed by Dennis Murphy and starring Ray Lebowski, Anna Hazzard and D’Waughn Hazzard. A young couple discover the true meaning of love while celebrating their first Christmas together.

All of the Home View Theatre videos are presently available for viewing except for The Gift of the Magi which is expected to be released by December 23.
