TOOTSIE The Tony Award®-Winning Musical is Coming to Cincinnati March 7-19

Cincinnati, OH – Broadway in Cincinnati announced today that the individual tickets for TOOTSIE are on sale now, as part of the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati series presented by TriHealth. The hilarious Tony Award-winning musical is coming to the Aronoff Center for a limited two-week engagement from March 7 to 19. This laugh-out-loud love letter to the theater tells the story of Michael Dorsey, a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work until one show-stopping act of desperation lands him the role of a lifetime. Featuring a hilarious Tony®-winning book by Robert Horn and an outrageously clever score by 2018 Tony-winner David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), this New York Times Critic’s Pick is “a joyful delight” (The Washington Post) that’s “so packed with punchlines, it should be called a jokebox musical!” (Bloomberg). “In these turbulent times, when the world seems out of balance, we need a place to let the good times roll,” raves Rolling Stone. “TOOTSIE is it!”

The creative team for TOOTSIE includes director Dave Solomon (Broadway associate director), Broadway choreography by Denis Jones, associate choreographer Chip Abbott. The design team for TOOTSIE includes original scenic designer David Rockwell, tour scenic designer Christine Peters, costume designer William Ivey Long, associate costume designer Christopher Vergara, lighting designer Donald Holder, associate lighting designers Vivien Leone & Coby Chasman-Beck and assistant lighting designer Colleen Doherty, sound designer Brian Ronan, associate sound designer Cody Spencer, hair and wig design by Paul Huntley, assistant hair and wig designer Loryn Pretorius. make-up design by Angelina Avallone. TOOTSIE is based on the story by Don McGuire and Larry Gelbart and the Columbia Pictures Motion Picture produced by Punch Productions and starring Dustin Hoffman. This production of TOOTSIE was licensed by Music Theatre International. The National Tour of Tootsie is produced and managed by TROIKA Entertainment.

Local Songwriter Hannah Gregory Kicks Off The Carnegie’s Creative Disruption Series with NOVEMBER BLUE

Limited Run Kicks Off At The Carnegie November 18, 2022

COVINGTON, Ky. (November 11, 2022) – Join local actor, singer, songwriter, and playwright Hannah Gregory and friends for NOVEMBER BLUE, an evening of classic folk, rock, and americana songs, as well as original songs from her musicals Descent: A Murder Ballad and Wuthering, that pay homage to the natural world, the exploration of identity, and the female experience.

NOVEMBER BLUE is part of The Carnegie’s Creative Disruption Series that focuses on supporting new theatrical works created by local theatre-makers, especially works relevant to the moment or new in either content or storytelling structure. Whether it’s an immersive experience, a scripted play, an online production, or an original musical, The Creative Disruption Series showcases what’s new from our regional artists.

Gregory will host performances of NOVEMBER BLUE on The Carnegie’s Otto M. Budig stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19. Tickets for the 60-minute cabaret are $25. Tickets can be purchased at thecarnegie.com.

Other upcoming performances in the 2022-23 Creative Disruption Series include:

MULTI-SHELLED HERMIT CRAB, a one-person show that follows Alex Hollow, a sweet timid man who has multiple unique personalities. He’s being investigated by chief Oscar Charles Dean for the murder of a woman. Throughout this comedic thriller, we’ll see events that leads to the murder that’ll keep you on the edge of your seats while laughing non-stop. Performances will take place March 17, 18 and 19, 2023.

ALL’S FAIRE, a story about petty theft that hit the local Renaissance Fair and Private Eye Johnson and her assistant Josh who take the case! Will they catch the culprit before the Fellowship of Funding pulls the plug on the Faire for good? Will they be bogged down when secrets from Johnson’s past finally catch up with her? Will Josh ever stop hogging all turkey legs?! All we know for sure is that music, chaos, and hilarity abound in this delightful original musical by two Cincinnati playwrights who just want you to be who ye arrrrrr. “The whole crew will smile from tweens to grandpas”- League of Cincinnati Theatres. Performances will take place March 31 and April 1-2, 2023.

ONE WOMAN SH*T SHOW, Maddie Vaughn would like to apologize in advance for the ONE WOMAN SH*T SHOW. Come prepared for an evening of song, retrospectives, and laughter. As the old adage goes: when you can’t speak, sing — when you can’t sing, unpack your emotional baggage in a theater full of strangers. Performances will take place April 15, 2023.

You should consider Sunday, November 13th.

CenterStage Players to feature a talk back session after the Sunday matinee performance on November 13th. The featured speaker will be holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Fenichel.

Dr. Fenichel was born April 13, 1938 in The Hague, Netherlands. When he was two years old, the Nazis invaded Holland. Henry’s father, Moritz, was arrested and sent first to Mauthausen, then to Auschwitz where he was later killed.

Aware of the danger they were in, Henry’s mother, Pessel, made arrangements for them to go into hiding at a convalescence home. In 1943, Henry and his mother’s Jewish identities were discovered and they were arrested in their hiding place and sent to Westerbork, one of two transit camps in the Netherlands. Henry and his mother spent six months there. They were later transferred in cattle cars to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany, the same camp where Anne Frank and her sister, Margot, died.

The conditions in Bergen-Belsen were extremely terrible due to overcrowding, food shortage, and disease. They were later trasnferred to Palestine. Henry spent the rest of his childhood in Palestine, which in 1948, became the state of Israel.

Henry’s mother eventually remarried and together, the family came to the United States in January 1953. Henry went to Brooklyn College where he met his future wife, Diana. He later received a PhD in Physics from Rutgers University and the couple moved to Cincinnati, where Henry taught at the University of Cincinnati for 38 years. They had two daughters and five grandchildren.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Rings in the Holiday Season With Two Classics, LITTLE WOMEN and EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD

There is something for everyone this holiday season at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company with Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” playing Nov. 11- Dec. 3, 2022 followed by the annual holiday blockbuster comedy “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some!)” Dec. 8-31, 2022

Cincinnati, November 7, 2022 – Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is pleased to announce more details on their upcoming productions this November and December.  CSC celebrates the holiday season with two beloved holiday classics: the wintery and warm “Little Women” by Kate Hamill, adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott, and their annual smash hit, “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)” by Michael Carleton, James Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez.

Kate Hamill, the same playwright behind last season’s bestseller “Pride and Prejudice,” brings “Little Woman,” another literary favorite, to the stage in a fresh and unexpected adaptation. This cherished story of sisterhood, growing up, and Christmastime, is perfect for the whole family. “Little Women” is directed by Jemma Alix Levy and stars Elizabeth Chinn Molloy as the beloved Jo March.  Jemma directed Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s 2019 production of “Miss Holmes” to great acclaim. She will return to direct this season’s upcoming 2023 production of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.”

Louisa May Alcott’s treasured classic, “Little Women” tells the enduring story of the March family and their four daughters; romantic Meg, shy Beth, willful Amy, and of course, fiery and independent Jo.  Through the intertwining lives of the sisters, we see the familiar hardships, heartbreak, humor, and humility of these passionate and unique young women.  “Little Women” enchants new generations with the regional premiere of this new adaptation. The design of this production is sponsored by Pete and Ginger Strange.

“Little Women” runs from November 11-December 3, 2022. Performances of “Little Women” are on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, with two Saturday matinees on November 26 and December 3, and two Sunday matinees on November 20 and 27. CSC offers performances with accessible resources, including an Audio Described performance on Friday, November 18 at 7:30 PM and a Sign Language Interpreted performance on Saturday, December 3 at 2:00 PM.

Following “Little Women,” CSC’s holiday smash hit “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)” is back again for another season of holiday hilarity! What begins as another annual production of “A Christmas Carol,” soon devolves into a slightly irreverent look at all of our favorite “Beloved Holiday Classics” including pop culture favorites like “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Rudolph,” “Charlie Brown” and more! Add in topical references that always keep this annual tradition fresh and fun as we send up everything from Dickens to Dr. Seuss in an evening of high octane jollity and frivolity. “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some!)” is a show best enjoyed by adults and older teens; it is not recommended for any theatergoers young enough to believe in Santa Claus. Perfect for date nights, families with older children and teens, and outings with friends, attending the show becomes an experience. Theatergoers are encouraged to arrive with Christmas sweaters and Santa hats and enjoy festive drinks at the lobby bar before (and during) the show!

“Every Christmas Story Ever Told” runs from December 8-31, 2022. Performances are Thursdays through Sundays at 7:30 PM with one Monday performance on December 19 and two Wednesday performances on December 21 and 28. Matinees at 2:00 PM are also available on December 5, 11, 17, 18, and 31. CSC offers performances with accessible resources, including an Audio Described performance on Friday, December 16 at 7:30 PM and a Sign Language Interpreted performance on Saturday, December 31 at 2:00 PM.

These tickets are only $12 and could be located anywhere in the house, depending on that evening’s availability.
