THE REALISTIC JONESES
Clifton Performance Theatre
Jan. 21-Feb. 6
Clifton

Directed by Dale Hodges

Cast: Carter Bratton, Mindy Siebert, Miranda McGee & Phil Fiorini

Will Eno’s The Realistic Joneses is a show that is droll, dry and otherworldly, and, at the same time, all too human. Bob and Jennifer are spending their days managing an illness that’s manifesting itself in more and more insideous ways when Pony and John move in down the street. The couples connect in ways that are both healing and damaging, and the four of them have more in common than any of them first realized.

When Anna, an unmarried schoolteacher, is diagnosed with ATD, Acquired Toilet Disease, a fatal new malady with a high risk factor for elementary school teachers, she and her brother Carl take flight to Europe. Anna decides she wants to drown herself in the sensuality of food and sex, while Carl becomes involved in a wild Third Mannish espionage scheme to find a cure for his sister on the Continent. Something is not quite right with the scenario, and the largest hint is dropped when Anna shows slides of their trip to Europe where each frame looks exactly like Baltimore. THE REVOLUTIONISTS Runs Feb. 5-March 6

PIP_The Revolutionists promoTHE REVOLUTIONISTS
Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Feb. 5-March 6
Eden Park

Directed by Eleanor Holdridge

Cast: Lise Bruneau as Olympede Gouges, Jessica Lynn Carroll as Marie Antoinette/ Fraternite, Keira Keeley as Charlotte Corday/Fraternite & Kenita R. Miller as Marianne Angelle

True story? Total fiction? You’ll have so much fun deciding.
Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution. At the height of the Reign of Terror, playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, activist Angelle Ogé and former queen Marie Antoinette hang out, plot murder and try to beat back extremist insanity in Paris. This world premiere fantasia by one of the country’s most exciting young playwrights considers how we actually go about changing the world. Advisory: The Revolutionists is appropriate for adults and older teenage audiences. These four women may wear corsets and wigs, but they have a distinctly modern (and hilarious) sensibility when it comes to very strong adult language and ousting political tyrants.

CenterStage Players of Ohio
Feb. 5-13
North College Hill City Center

Directed by Lynne Aronson

Cast: Bill Keeton as George, Julie Poux as Martha, Michael Gettinger as Nick & Kiya Fix as Honey

This classic play is an emotional roller coaster between George, a college history professor and his wife Martha, daughter of the college president, and Nick, a new professor in the biology department and his wife, Honey. Illusion and reality are nebulous and never clear.

The morals and mores of the 1950s, wherein families consisted of husband, wife and two perfect children living in the suburbs, is questioned and exposed. Alcohol is used to self-medicate, and the mental stability of all of them is in question.
