HAMLET Runs Nov. 7-9

HAMLET
SSCC Theatre
Nov. 7-9
Southern State Community College Central Campus Daniels Auditorium [Hillsboro]

Adapted and directed by Rainee Angles

Cast: Jacob Bice, Bob Brown, Paula Campagna, Camden Griffith, Fiona Holmes, Ian Holmes, Leslie Holmes, Gavin Isaacs, Bronwyn Jones, Johanna Kelley, Max Petzold, Quinn Pickering-Polstra, Logan Savage, A.J. Schroder, Payton Taylor, Shawn Thomsen, and Matt Waits.

“Hamlet” is a timeless tragedy of revenge, madness, and betrayal. After the sudden death of his father, Prince Hamlet is visited by the ghost of the late king, who reveals a chilling truth: he was murdered by his own brother, Claudius, who has now seized both the throne and Hamlet’s mother, Queen Gertrude. Torn between duty and despair, Hamlet struggles with grief, feigned insanity, and the burden of vengeance. His erratic behavior devastates Ophelia, the woman he loves, while his mistrust of Gertrude deepens the play’s portrait of fractured family ties. As deception spreads through the Danish court, friendships crumble, innocence is destroyed, and elaborate plots drive the story toward a final, fatal duel. With its ghostly visitations, razor-sharp wit, and haunting conclusion, “Hamlet” endures as Shakespeare’s most profound and devastating masterpiece.

After suffering a recent nervous breakdown, Jan retreats with her husband Greg, an archaeologist, to a secluded farmhouse in the countryside—conveniently located near his latest dig site. Hoping for peace and quiet, Jan instead finds herself swept up in eerie tales from George, the quirky and comical farmer who owns the house. He warns of a gruesome murder that once occurred there… and a ghost that still haunts the grounds. Just as Jan’s nerves begin to fray, Greg’s alluring and conniving sister Laura shows up unannounced, further disrupting Jan’s fragile sense of calm. Strange noises echo through the night, chilling visions plague her, and Jan begins to question what’s real and what’s not. Is she relapsing—or is someone trying to drive her mad? As the tension escalates, Jan’s fight for sanity takes a shocking turn in a gripping night of suspense, mystery, and psychological thrills. Adult themes/violence not recommended for small children.
