Calling all superheroes!  The citizens of Nova City need a patron superhero to save them from the evil clutches of the nefarious Colonel Mustard and his sidekick Hemlock.  So what do they do?  They hold an audition, of course!  Legions of fantastic, incredible, and uncanny characters descend upon City Hall hoping the mayor and police commissioner might marvel at their strange powers, which range from super strength to super speed, from mind reading to animal whispering, from quoting Shakespeare to pointing out irony.  When Colonel Mustard unleashes a surprise attack on City Hall, both the mighty and the average must join together to bring justice and security to Nova City.

OF MICE AND MEN Runs Feb. 13-29

FLI_Of Mice and Men logoOF MICE AND MEN
Footlighters Inc.
Feb. 13-29
Stained Glass Theatre [Newport]

Directed by Jim Curtis
Produced by Katie McCarthy, Amanda Emmons Shumate & Janet Wisner

Cast: Jay Woffington as George, Eric Day as Lennie, James Hummeldorf as Slim, Bill Hartnett as Candy, Rick Hunt as Curly, Katey Blood as Curly’s Wife, BJ Simpson as Carlson, Peter Merten as The Boss, Patrick Coyle as Patrick & Charles McClinon as Crooks

John Steinbeck’s classic tale features two migrant workers, drifter George and his mentally challenged friend Lennie, arriving at a ranch to work for enough money to pursue their dream of owning their own farm. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. It’s Lennie’s obsession with things soft and cuddly that have made George cautious about who the gentle giant, with his brute strength, associates with. But when the unexpected happens, their dreams take a drastic and tragic turn. In an effort to stay true to the time period and John Steinbeck’s work, Footlighters’ production of OF MICE AND MEN will be performed unedited. This production contains language and themes prevalent to the time period and may be offensive to some audience members.
