Meet John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Earnest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise.

7th Annual NEW WORKS FESTIVAL Runs July 22-31

CLT_logo2We’re excited to announce our 7th Annual New Works Festival!

Cincinnati LAB Theatre’s New Works Festival will present three fully staged workshop productions and three original play readings in a rotating festival repertoire over two weekends, July 22 – July 31, 2021. All performances will be presented in Cincinnati at the Madcap Education Center 3064 Harrison Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45211.

Cincinnati LAB Theatre is now in its eighth producing season.

Some of Cincinnati LAB Theatre’s past productions include The Color Of The Leaves by Isaiah Reaves, A Funny Play For Troubled Times by Charlie Schulman, Medusa In You by Valetta Anderson, The Hired Man by Heather Meyer, Led Thespian by Jason Podplesky, 3Some by Brian Griffin, An Evening with Stephen Crane by Phil Paradis, Identity: An Evening of Three Twenty-Minute Plays by Elizabeth a. Harris, Brian Griffin, and Leah Strasser, and Buckeye as well as Judas by Elizabeth a. Harris.

A married couple’s attempt to spice up their sex life reveals that nothing about their marriage is what it seems.

CLT_The Secret Life of Bros logoTHE SECRET LIFE OF BROS by Nathan Top
Directed by Aaron Epstein

A contemporary comedy, The Secret Life of Bros begins with two gym buddies, Dude and Bro. As Dude prepares for his impending wedding, that upcoming weekend, Bro is trying to figure out how to dump the ‘f***boy’ he has been seeing. When Bro decides to follow Dude’s advice and attempts to dump the ‘f***boy,’ a myriad of secrets and feelings unravel, jeopardizing Dude and Bro’s friendship. The Secret Life Of Bros is an unfiltered examination at male relationships and how the perceptions of those closest to us affect how we see ourselves.
Performances July 23 and 30, at 8:00pm.

Part physical theater, part absurdist drama, and part stand-up comedy routine, this is the story of a woman who overcomes a serious physical trauma all while trying to negotiate the pitfalls of the American Health Care System and a romantic relationship. Through barriers to her physical state she must learn to speak, eat, walk, and love all over again in this raw, poetic, and inspiring piece of theatre.
Performances July 29 and 31 at 8:00pm.

Based on a real event, which has been the subject of gossip for years in Hollywood, LOOPED takes place in the summer of 1965, when an inebriated Tallulah Bankhead, well-known for her husky voice, outrageous personality, and devastating wit, needed eight hours to redub – or loop – one line of dialogue for her last movie, Die! Die! My Darling! Bankhead’s outsized personality dominates the young, frustrated film editor who is knocked for a loop by the tempestuous stage and screen icon. Rated R. Ages 18 and up.

Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian.
