IN THE GREEN Runs Jan. 19-21

TLD_In the Green promoIN THE GREEN
TheatreLab Dayton
Jan. 19-21
PNC ARTS Annex [Dayton]

As a young girl, medieval saint, healer, visionary, exorcist, and composer Hildegard von Bingen was locked in a cell after demonstrating a preternatural sensitivity to the world around her. Sequestered with Hildegard is the traumatized Jutta. Under her guidance, Hildegard attempts to reassemble her own fragmented self while her mentor tries to convince her to reject her ideas of brokenness. IN THE GREEN is a musical unlike any you’ve seen, a saga of two exceptional women broken by the world and their journey of healing that changed history. References to sexual assault/trauma, starvation, and foul language.

GRAND HORIZONS Runs Jan. 14-Feb. 5

ETC_Grand Horizons logoGRAND HORIZONS
Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati
Jan. 14-Feb. 5
[Over-the-Rhine]

It’s out with the old and in with the new (sort of). Over a quiet dinner for two, Bill and Nancy serenely decide to divorce after fifty years of marriage. While Nancy feels liberated and Bill seems unfazed, their adult sons Brian and Ben don’t exactly take it well. As the “kids” descend on the Grand Horizons senior living community to mediate, everything they thought they knew about their parents comes crashing down. Bess Wohl’s Tony-nominated comedy is a hilarious, heartbreaking commentary on marriage, family, and the wisdom that comes with age—or not. Bursting with all the joy and pathos of everyday life, Grand Horizons is theatre at its most enjoyable and familiar. This production contains strong language and adult content, including themes of sexuality and descriptions of sexual situations and alcohol use.
