Washington Township’s Town Hall Theatre Presents Disney’s MULAN JR

THT_Disneys Mulan Jr promoWASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Disney’s animated heroine comes to life and battles for the empire as Town Hall Theatre presents MULAN JR, May 1-17, 2015!

THE STORY: Defying the village matchmaker, Mulan takes up arms and disguises herself as a boy in order to spare her father from having to serve in the army. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor…and her country!

Advance tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors and $10 for kids 12 & under. All tickets purchased at the door are $15. Patrons may reserve tickets in advance online at www.townhalltheatre.org or in person or over the phone at the box office, which is open M-TH from 4-7pm at 937-433-8957. The show runs just over an hour with intermission and is recommended for children ages 4 and up.

Centerville middle school students Katie Kress, (Watts) and Lizzy Sundstrom, (Tower Heights) share the role of Mulan, alternating performances. When one is playing Mulan, the other plays the character of Chi Fu.

Since third grade, Katie Kress has been a part of shows at Town Hall, Epiphany Lutheran Church, and Muse Machine. Most recently she appeared as Nancy in Fancy Nancy. Some of her favorite roles include; Scuttle in the Little Mermaid, narrator, in Aladdin, Sugar Plum Fairy in Shrek and Little Girl in Once on This Island. When not on stage Katie enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling with her family and playing with her sister Sarah.

This is Lizzy’s Sundstrom’s 21st production at Town Hall Theatre since taking her first acting class four seasons ago. Some her favorite roles include her role as Sidney in Frosty, Lilly in Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, Sour Kangaroo in Seussical the Musical Jr, Dragon In Shrek the Musical, and Wendy in Peter Pan Jr. You may have seen her most recently cast as The Prince in Snow White and the Prince. When she is not at the theatre, Lizzy enjoys vocal ensemble, band, and hanging out with the great friends she has made at the theatre. She thanks audiences for supporting the arts in her community.

Disney’s MULAN JR is presented by the Landmark Children’s Theatre Company, the theatre’s premiere series featuring professional and volunteer adult actors performing with young people. It is directed by Chris Harmon and music directed by Greg Dastillung with choreography by Stacy Gear.

Auditions Announced for Children’s Summer Theater Production of PETER PAN at Loveland Stage Company

Audition and workshop information dates:
Sat. May 16  2-430pm and Sun. May 17  2-430pm.

Show Dates:
Thurs. July 9 thru Sat. July 11 at  730pm
Sun. July 12  at 2pm
Wed.  July 15 thru Sat. July 18 at 730pm

Cast for around 50 individuals, including backstage and technical crew.

Looking for individuals ages 8-18 with computer/video skills for flying, prop makers for Indian headdresses and mermaid fins, muscle-strong backstage crew, ballet dancers, jazz dancers, acrobats and gymnasts, singers, a crocodile and a dog.

Come to auditions prepared to sing and read from a script as well as move a bit on stage. This being said please wear appropriate shoes to dance in, no flip-flops. Tennis shoes are fine if you don’t have a ballet or jazz shoe.  Also please think about conflicts of dates and other priorities of the summer and bring those with you.

ehearsals will be Sundays 1:30-4:00, Monday thru Thurs. 6:00-8:30 pm, and set and Tech work Saturdays 1:30-4:30 pm.

  • Peter Pan – androgynous youth, male or female, athletic, strong, nimble dancer, strong singing voice, flies.
  • Tinker Bell – female, small, great dance skills, flies, non-speaking or singing.
  • Captain Hook/ Mr. Darling – male, tall, comedic but evil, strong singing voice, baritone-range, flies.
  • Wendy Darling – female, strong voice, the “English Rose” type, 13/14 playing age, flies.
  • John Darling – male, strong singer, good looking 12 yr. old, flies.
  • Michael Darling – male, 8 yrs. old, sweet, bubbly likable with strong voice, flies.
  • Mrs. Darling – female, plays 30 yrs. old, “English lady”, graceful, warm, motherly.
  • Liza – female, the Darlings’ servant, good dancer, slim, athletic, vocally strong soprano.
  • NANA – male or female, Darlings’ family dog, sings in “howl” format.
  • Crocodile – male or female, nimble enough to scoot on floor in costume.
  • Tiger Lily – Peter Pan’s friend, daughter of Indian Chief, strong voice and dance skills.
  • The Lost Boys – males, younger ages,  mixed shapes and sizes, strong voices, set of twins would be great.
  • Pirates – males, older ages, gruff and quite masculine, some comedic skills at times.
  • Mermaids – female, strong, ballet type dance skills with fins,
  • Indians –  males as braves, females as squaws, also young braves and squaws, strong singing and war dance

ArtReach Presents THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS at the Fitton Center

TCTC_Wind_in_the_Willows promoHamilton, Ohio – Join us on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. as ArtReach: A Division of the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati presents THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS.  This event is part of the Fitton Family Fridays series.

Based on the 1908 children’s tale by Kenneth Grahame, the peaceful lives of Mole and Rat are interrupted when Toad finds a new, exciting invention—a motorcar! When the fate of Toad Hall hangs in the balance, the friends enlist the help of the reclusive Badger, who lives deep in the Wild Wood. A classic story of friendship, keeping up with the times, and conquering one’s fears, this new musical adaptation will take you on an adventure by the river that you’ll never forget.

Fitton Family Fridays feature entertainment geared to kids of all ages, from preschoolers to teenagers – including parents and grandparents who are still kids at heart. Kid-friendly drinks and an assortment of light appetizers will be served before the show and are included in the ticket price. This series is sponsored by Vaden Fitton. The reception is sponsored by G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, Inc.

Adult tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Children (16 and under) are FREE! *Limit 4 children per paying adult. Otherwise, the price for children is $5 for members and $6 for non-members. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Rotary Vista Room and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Auditions Announced for THE ODYSSEY by InBocca Performance

IBP_logoInBocca Performance will be holding auditions for our summer production, “The Odyssey.”

Date: May 16th

Time: 10am-1pm

Where: Village Players of Ft Thomas

What Should I Prepare: Nothing! Come ready to move/dance and do cold readings.

Who Can Audition: anyone going into grades 3-12, and outgoing seniors.

Show Dates, Rehearsals: Rehearsals will begin July 6th. We realise this is a week earlier than usual, but there will be a week’s break in the middle of rehearsals due to our Director’s brother getting MARRIED!

Show Dates, Performances: Aug. 6-9

Camp Cost: $85/child, or $150 for a family (two), plus $50 for each additional child beyond two.

The Show: The Odyssey is an exploration of Homer’s original story mixed with the story of two young people whose friendship must undergo the tests of time, distance, and the pitfalls of young adulthood. It will feature fantastic nautical adventures, mixed with movement and music, as usual!

Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.

Prepare a 30 second song of your choice to be sung without music, you will be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Actors ages 5-17.
