Job Title: Off the Grid, Event Stage Manager

Position Overview: The Off the Grid Event Stage Manager is responsible for the overseeing of rehearsals and performances of the Off the Grid Series including managing back of house and onstage areas. The Off the Grid Stage Manager assists the director and coordinates technical elements with the Education Associate Producer for the smooth running of rehearsals and performances. This position will also be pivotal to the smooth running of the performance. Additionally, the Off the Grid Event Stage Manager makes sure that everyone and everything involved in the production from musicians, technicians, props, lighting, sound, musical instruments, and various equipment are in the right place, at the right time.

Reports to: Education Associate Producer & Director of Artistic Engagement 

Starting Salary: $18.75 per hour

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare for rehearsals including but not limited to organizing, cleaning, taping the production space, setting up supplies in the production space and dressing rooms, when available
  • Create pre-production, rehearsal, and performance paperwork, as needed
  • Lead tracking time, giving calls, and assembling actors.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe workplace, in line with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s safety and health protocols.
  • Participate loading equipment in and out, setting equipment, and maintaining consistent quality of both the technical elements and production as a whole.
  • Prepare for performances including but not limited to organizing, cleaning, prepping the space, setting up supplies in the production space and dressing rooms, when available
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Ideal Qualifications and Skills:

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with an ability to adapt to and quickly learn new procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while keeping a positive work attitude.
  • A good knowledge of stage management techniques and rehearsal/performance processes is preferred.
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities and characteristics.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of interactive or non-traditional events preferred
  • General knowledge of multi-departmental technical theatre practices preferred. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • The work environment will be located in both climate-controlled office, interior rehearsal space, and exterior spaces that may be subject to changing weather conditions. This position may also include home-based remote work.
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull: generally, up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 40 lbs.
  • Safely climb, ascend/descend ladders, uneven terrain, and occasional muddy areas
  • Clear and accurate communication skills, especially verbally.
  • Ability to speak clearly to and hear/listen to employees/clients via phone or in person.

Job Title: Off the Grid Event Technician

Position Overview: The Off the Grid Event Technician is responsible for supporting technical aspects of Off the Grid events including, but not limited to, audio, lighting, set-up/restoration, and related functions. This position should be able to quickly switch between following instructions to leading projects.

Reports to: Education Associate Producer & Director of Artistic Engagement 

Starting Salary: $18 per hour

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing for rehearsals including but not limited to organizing, cleaning, taping the production space, setting up supplies in the production space and dressing rooms, when available
  • Create paperwork, as needed
  • Lead projects and work independently, as needed
  • Set, maintain, and reset all technical elements of the performance
  • Train actors on the safe operation of technical elements
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe workplace, in line with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s safety and health protocols.
  • Participate in/ Lead loading equipment in and out, setting equipment, and maintaining consistent quality of both the technical elements and production as a whole.
  • Prepare for performances including but not limited to organizing, cleaning, prepping the space, setting up supplies in the production space and dressing rooms, when available
  • Perform and supervise limited set construction, painting, basic rigging, basic lighting, sound, and video operation, and other activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Directors Sought for 2023 Season at Mason Community Players

MCP_sm logoMCP is beyond excited to start laying out what will be our 2023 Season and the start of our 50th year in Mason, and we want YOU to be a part of it!

MCP would like to invite any and all directors to submit shows that you may have an interest in directing for the 50th anniversary celebration in 2023.

Our new home at 5529 Mason Road in Mason affords us both rehearsal and performance space for up to 5 shows a year.

MCP’s goal is to provide offerings throughout the year that will attract a variety of participants and viewers. That means we need options! We also want your vision for the show; what thoughtfulness or uniqueness you can bring to the production.

Please download and fill out a submission form for EACH show that you are proposing and submit the forms to playreading@masonplayers.org. If you have a copy of the script, please include that with your submission.

All submissions must be made by May 1, 2022 to be considered for MCP’s 50th anniversary.

Summer Camp Site Leader Sought by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Job Title: Summer Camp Site Leader 

Pay: $14.00 per hour 

Camp dates:

  • June 6 – July 1,
  • July 11 – August 5, 2022
  • Prep/training weeks: May 23-June 3, 2022

Position Overview:

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park seeks three Summer Camp Site Leaders for our 2022 Summer Theatre Day Camp program.

Site Leaders oversees the facilitation of all aspects of the day to day of camp including, but not limited to; check-in and check-out, basic parent communication, materials, and room prep, implementing the staff break plan, and class rotations. They are instrumental in creating and maintaining a positive and exciting camp environment. Ideal candidates are currently attending college, are recent college graduates or possess relevant experience, have experience working with children and are enthusiastic about summer camps.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all paperwork including check-in/out sheets, name tags and group rosters for each week
  • Direct parent communication during camp
  • Oversee daily check-in/out process
  • Process and turn in all injury reports
  • Oversee the set–up and strike of classrooms each week
  • Implement break and class rotation schedule
  • Troubleshoot challenges as they come up
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Ideal Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Experience working with children
  • Experience with administrative processes preferred
  • Currently attending college, recent college graduate, or relevant experience
  • Good email communication skills
  • Experience with customer service
  • Organized and able to solve problems quickly and positively
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities and working styles. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • The employee must have the ability to speak clearly and to hear/listen to campers and other staff via phone or in person
  • The employee must have digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets)
  • This position may require local travel to other worksites. Therefore, this employee must have reliable means of transportation

Hours are 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, hours may vary. Selected candidates will also need to be available for training and preparation May 23-27, hours arranged and May 31-June 3, 2022, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

This position requires travel to camp locations including Mason Community Center, Mason High School, Evendale Cultural Arts Center, Wyoming Civic Center, Wyoming Fine Arts Center, and Downtown Cincinnati Area (Location TBA). Qualified candidates must be flexible and able to move to a different location if needed by the camp administrative team; therefore, candidates must possess reliable transportation.

Summer Camp Instructor/Teaching Artist Sought by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Job Title: Summer Camp Instructor/Teaching Artist 

Pay: $750 Weekly

($18.75 an hour for planning and training prior to weekly employment)

Position Overview: (Seasonal)

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park seeks Summer Camp Instructors for our 2022 Summer Theatre Day Camp. Instructors will teach from one to eight weeks, on dates which include June 6 – July 1, and July 11 – August 5, 2022. Camp hours are 9:00 – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

We are looking for candidates with experience in the following:

  • Music Theater
  • Singing
  • Dance
  • Artistic Directing
  • Movement
  • Playwrighting

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for teaching participants, implementing curriculum, and directing
  • Teach any one-off, but not limited to, acting, improvisation, crafts, rehearsal and performance, character creation, writing, and other specialties at any camp location.
  • Collaborate with Playhouse Education Staff and other professional artists.
  • Mentor Teaching Artist Fellows during the course of the camp day by co-teaching, observing teaching and providing feedback.
  • Instructors may direct Performance Academies
  • Responsible for following lesson plans and maintaining a positive and exciting camp environment.
  • Trouble shoot challenges as they come up
  • Attend meetings conferences and training session
  • Other duties as assigned

Instructors may be assigned to any of our locations over the course of the summer including Mason Community Center, Mason High School, Evendale Cultural Arts Center, Wyoming Civic Center, Wyoming Fine Arts Center, and Downtown Cincinnati Area (Location TBA).
