Job Title: Assistant Production Manager

Reports to: Production Manager

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling of Design and Production meetings
  • Manage Production Dept. communications
  • Create and update Tech and Production schedules
  • Update Production Materials and Labor Budgets (coordinate w/Finance)
  • PO/Invoice processing including entry into Accounting system
  • Update SharePoint site and coordinate access
  • Hire and coordinate over-hire, non-union Run Crew
  • Coordinate Travel/Housing for visiting designers
  • General logistics and miscellaneous show related tasks
  • Time Card processing
  • Track Production Department purchasing, including Credit Card bill processing and entry into Accounting system
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies include:

  • BA in Theater (or related field) and a Minimum of three years professional experience in a similar position.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with a variety of computer programs.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position also requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, climb a ladder and bend as necessary. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Benefits include medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, paid time off, and 401k and 403b pension plans.

Purpose of Position The Box Office Manager is responsible for maintaining the Fine Arts Box Office, which provides ticketing and event staffing support for the School at Northern Kentucky University. The primary venues for fine arts events at NKU are the 650-seat Greaves Concert Hall, 315-seat Corbett Theatre and 120-seat Black Box Theatre. As well as any ticketed Art Gallery events. This responsibility includes maintaining the computerized ticketing system and supervising 4-6 student box office assistants and maintaining records and accounting for all revenue generated. The manager will regularly interact with the public and many other departments and offices within the University.
Primary Responsibilities Supervise the box office during regular hours of operation (approximately 5 hours per day, Mon-Fri- remainder of time is spent with administrative tasks and box office operations for performances).

Provide excellent customer service to both public and internal patrons.

Receive calls, emails, and walk-up patrons, taking and processing single ticket orders and subscription exchanges for fine arts events.

Balance, record and deposit income from daily ticket sales to appropriate departmental accounts, work with Budget Officer and Publicity Manager on accounting of revenue.

Supervise work-study student assistants.

Maintain and update patron mailing lists.

Process season subscription orders for the academic season, including, but limited to the biennial YES Festival of New Plays, summer dinner theatre season, including creation of the events in the computerized ticketing system and processing of mail, phone and walk-up orders for season ticket packages for all events.

Serve as front-of-house manager during performance periods, overseeing day-of-show box office operations and supervising student house managers and ushers for the School performances.

Create and submit sales and performance reports at the close of each School event.

Assist Fine Arts Manager in creation and mailing of seasonal brochures/order forms.

In coordination with the Publicity Manager
– hire, train and evaluate work-study student assistants.
– recommend students for house management positions during the academic year.
– recommend and coordinate box office and front-of-house staff and catering needs for summer dinner theatre.

Qualifications Significant experience in Fine Arts or Event Management or other Arts Administration.

Cash handling and customer service experience required

CPR certified (if not certified at time of hiring, employee would be required to complete training by the end of the 90- day probationary period)

STREETSPARK Now Accepting Proposals for Hamilton Murals

FC_25 logoHamilton, Ohio – The StreetSpark program is now accepting design proposals and painter applications for upcoming murals in Hamilton. Designs will be accepted now until February 8th at midnight and painter applications will be accepted now until March 8th at midnight.

“This year, StreetSpark is branching out to place murals in several core Hamilton neighborhoods. We are excited to expand our reach and to focus on developing community pride through public art,” says Jenn Acus-Smith, StreetSpark Program Manager.

Artists age 18 and older are welcome to submit a design and/or apply to be a mural painter. For each location there will be a Lead Artist and several Supporting Artists. We strongly encourage local artists to submit designs, but artists may be from any geographical location. There are three different mural sites to which artists can submit designs: Booker T. Washington Community Center, 1140 S. Front Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011, Minnick’s Drive Thru, 2537 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton, OH 45015 and Max Stacy Flowers, 350 High Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Representational, stylized and abstract designs will be considered, and artists should consider the physical appearance of the building and surrounding area in their designs.

The design deadline is February 8, 2019 and designs will be chosen by a committee of art professionals and representatives from the community who live within 35 miles of Hamilton. Online applications will be accepted and can links can be found at fittoncenter.org/streetspark or facebook.com/streetsparkart. Several information sessions for artists will be held to help develop strong applications. Selections will be announced in spring 2019. The deadline to apply to be a painter is March 8, 2019 and murals will be painted in June and July of 2019 with the dedication ceremonies being held in August and September.

Now a nationally recognized program, StreetSpark is a partnership between the City of Hamilton, the Fitton Center for Creative Arts and the Hamilton Community Foundation. StreetSpark is a program founded to further the arts identity in the city through exciting murals and public art projects. The program creates arts engagement by producing high quality art, providing opportunities for local artists and enhancing the visual appeal of the city. With the goal of fueling Hamilton with art, StreetSpark will bring visible murals and artwork into our community. This program is energizing our streetscape, creating awareness of the arts and sparking new development throughout Hamilton. A total of eight murals have been created since the summer of 2016.

Call for Submissions for HOME BREW at The Drama Workshop

The Drama Workshop is will present Home Brew Theatre the weekend of June 7-9, 2019 at the Glenmore Playhouse in Cheviot.

The annual festival features full productions of short plays by local authors, and a reception featuring local beer. This year again the beer will be supplied by our friends at West Side Brewery.

Submission Rules:

  • Plays are to be maximum 10 minutes in length.
  • Plays maybe on any topic.
  • Plays must be unpublished.
  • Plays must not have been produced in the Greater Cincinnati area in the last year. (Previous public readings/workshops are allowed.)
  • Plays should require very little in the way of sets, props and costumes.
  • Playwrights must be local to the Greater Cincinnati area.
  • Limit 2 submissions per playwright.
  • Monologues and short musicals will be considered.
  • Plays are to be submitted in standard playwright format, attached as either pdf or docx and emailed to tdw.homebrew@gmail.com. Please include full contact information in the body of the email and the title page of the submission.
  • Do not include the author’s name in the body of the script.
  • Submissions will be accepted from January 2, 2019 through February 2, 2019.

Playwrights of selected plays will receive a small honorarium.

Playwrights will be consulted regarding production aspects of their play, but final decision making resides with the production creative team and The Drama Workshop.

All performance and publishing rights will remain the ownership of the author.
