Auditions Announced for Queen City Vaudevillians 2024 Season

QCV_logoAngel Trick Entertainment LLC is pleased to announce our live in person Audition Dates for The Queen City Vaudevillians 2024 Shows:

Who: We are currently looking to Cast (5) locally based Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky performers who would like to be a part of The Tri-State’s Premier Family Friendly Variety Show. We perform public theatre shows throughout the year. Our Theatre Season has performances scheduled in July, October, & December. We are a Revue Style/Variety Show. Our shows consist of ensemble numbers, solos, comedy skits, audience games, and magic. Our Goal is to create Quality Family Friendly Entertainment and showcase the performance skills of the troupe members. We are a family friendly PG13 Show. (Please note we are not a children’s show but a Family Friendly Show, we want a show that the whole family can enjoy together and there will be something for everyone in our audience to enjoy)

-Looking for Performers Ages 21+

  • Who Sing and Move Well
  • Are Funny and can-do Farce
  • Are at ease talking too and interacting with the audience
  • Specialty Skills are a Bonus but not required
  • Willing to be a part of a team

-Practices are 1 Night a Week -Stipends Paid for each show plus a percent of net ticket profits

When: General In Person Audition Date is Tuesday April 16th 2024 from 6-9pm With Invited Callbacks Thursday April 18th 2024 6-8pm

Where: Auditions & Call Backs Will Take Place at Artsville located at: 5021 Whetsel Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227 (Note-Please Do Not Contact Artsville About Auditions. We are only renting the venue. Any questions please contact us also If you can’t make this audition but would still like to be considered for invited callbacks on Thursday April 18th 2024 from 6-8pm, then fill out the form on our website and request an Audition Packet and Fill it out and send it along with a headshot/resume and an unlisted video audition to the email that will be sent to you)

Audition Requirements:

  • Please bring a completed audition packet, which may be requested by filling out the form on our website, along with a headshot and resume
  • Please prepare a comedic monologue or jokes (make me laugh)
  • Please come prepared to sing a musical theatre selection that best fits your vocal style. No pop or rock musicals please, also please bring a backing track for your singing audition. No acapella and also no accompanist will be available because during our shows we use backing tracks. We will have a blue tooth speaker available for you to use at audition to link your device too.
  • Please come ready to move, you might be asked to show some dance training if you are a dancer.

Auditions Announced for SUPERIOR DONUTS at Dayton Theatre Guild

DTG_logoArthur Przybyszewski, a former 1960’s radical, owns a rundown donut shop in Chicago’s Uptown. His only employee, an energetic but troubled young African American assistant, Franco, wants to update the establishment with lively music and healthy menu options. The writing is on the wall that things are going to change – maybe even for the better. Superior Donuts explores the challenges of embracing the past, and the redemptive power of friendship.

Casting Requirements

  • Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
  • A résumé and headshot are not required but are encouraged.
  • Please bring all scheduling conflicts between March 27 and June 23, 2024

Character Descriptions:
The ethnicities are noted in the script to indicate cultural divides within this Chicago neighborhood, but only MAX and KIRIL speak with an accent (Russian). ARTHUR PRZYBYSZEWSKI – Male, 50s-60s. Polish-American. An unambitious ex-hippie. He runs the dated donut shop of the title. Will be involved in fight choreography.*

  • FRANCO WICKS – Male, 20s. African American. An energetic and intelligent young man who comes to work for Arthur. He may have written the ‘great American novel’.
  • MAX TARASOV – Male, 50+. Russian immigrant and owner of the neighboring video store. Boisterous and lacking in social nuance. Speaks with a Russian accent.
  • OFFICER RANDY OSTEEN – Female, 40s-50s. Irish-American. A beat cop with a big heart. She’s sweet on Arthur.
  • OFFICER JAMES BAILEY – Male, 40s-50s. African-American. Randy’s partner. No-nonsense on the job, a Trekkie in his off-time.
  • LUTHER FLYNN – Male, 40s-50s. Irish/Italian-American. A thug and bookie to whom Franco owes money. He’s the boss. Will be involved in fight choreography.*
  • LADY BOYLE – Female, 70s. Irish-American. A homeless woman and regular ‘customer’ of the shop.
  • KEVIN MAGEE – Male, 20s. Irish-American. Luther’s henchman and enforcer. A mean and intimidating guy.
  • KIRIL IVAKIN – Male, 20s-30s. Russian. Max’s nephew who appears at the end of the play. A large man, he is described as looking like Ivan Drago from Rocky IV. Speaks with a Russian accent.

*There will be a simple fight audition for the characters of Arthur and Luther. Previous stage combat experience is NOT REQUIRED. It is recommended to dress comfortably for movement.

Auditions Announced for WORLD BUILDERS at Xenia Area Community Theatre

XACT_logoMax and Whitney both have personality disorders that cause them to retreat into imaginary worlds. When participating in a clinical drug trial that aims to rid them of their delusions, they fall in love. As the pills take effect and the fantasies subside, Max and Whitney must decide if romance is worth leaving their worlds behind.

  • WHITNEY 30s Outgoing and awkward. Has a schizoid personality disorder, but you might not suspect it.
  • MAX 30s Withdrawn and depressed. Has a schizoid personality disorder. You probably would suspect it.

Auditions Mon. Mar. 11 & Tues. Mar. 12 @ 7:00 p.m.
Production: May 10 – 12, 17 – 19 2024

  • Auditions consist of cold reading from the script.
  • Please come 15 mins. early to fill out the audition form, and please list all conflicts. A resume and headshot are helpful, but not required.

NOTE: All are encouraged to audition. However, please be advised that actors with experience and/or discipline are needed. Both actors are carrying 50% of the script in dialogue and action.

Rehearsals are flexible. While a Mon. thru Thurs. 7:00 to 9:00 is generally planned, not every night will be at the theatre. Several evenings may consist of actors staying home to rehearse on their own for a minimum of an hour’s commitment; also possible are rehearsing together via Google Meet. We will work with you and your schedule!

Cincinnati Opera Hosts Open Casting Calls for Supernumerary Roles for 2024 Summer Festival

CINCINNATI (March 4, 2024)—For anyone who’s dreamed of appearing on the Cincinnati Music Hall stage, Cincinnati Opera is ready to give you your moment in the spotlight. No singing or acting skills are required!

Cincinnati Opera will hold two open casting calls for supernumerary roles for the company’s 2024 Summer Festival. The information and casting sessions are scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2024, 10 a.m.–12 p.m., and Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m., at the Corbett Opera Center at Music Hall (1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202).

Supernumerary—or “super”—roles are non-singing, non-speaking roles, much like extras in film and television. Supers will share the stage with internationally renowned artists and work with celebrated directors and conductors. No experience is necessary and all super positions are filled on a voluntary basis. Individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, and abilities are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Cincinnati Opera seeks applicants for the following roles:

Don Giovanni
Commitment period: May 20–June 15, 2024
Performances: June 13 and 15, 2024
Supers needed:
• Two male-identifying individuals to play footmen, a café owner, a café waiter, and cemetery workmen; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
• Two female-identifying individuals to play chambermaids, a housekeeper, and hotel maids; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
• All participants must feel comfortable playing characters from a servant class.

La Traviata
Commitment period: June 4–30, 2024
Performances: June 27, 28, 30, 2024
Supers needed:
• Five male-identifying individuals to play Baron’s attendants, bartenders, bar staff, friends of Alfredo and Gastone, and a bare-chested bouncer/doorman

Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio
Commitment period: June 20–July 27, 2024
Performances: July 18, 20, 21, 27, 2024
Supers needed:
• Two to three children to play an orphan boy and evacuees
• Five female-identifying individuals to play mothers, grandmothers, nurses, and midwives
• Four male-identifying individuals to play fire officers, soldiers, and a trumpet player

Cincinnati Opera’s productions of Don GiovanniLa Traviata, and Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio will be presented in Springer Auditorium at Cincinnati Music Hall. Supers are required to attend approximately 10–15 rehearsals. Daytime rehearsals may be scheduled.
