The Carnegie Announces Auditions for THE WIZARD OF OZ!

TC_Wizard LogoWe’re off to see THE WIZARD OF OZ at The Carnegie! Add alittle fantasy and adventure to those gray January days with a trip to the Emerald City to see Dorothy, Toto and the rest of the colorful residents of Oz. Imaginatively reproduced for The Carnegie stage, and impeccably accompanied by The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, this classic tale is sure to delight fans both old and young.

Based on the hit MGM film, THE WIZARD OF OZ brings out the childin all of us with songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and “We’re Off toSee the Wizard.” Directed by Matt Wilson. Music Direction by J.R. Cassidy. Choreography by Maggie Perrino. Featuring The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra.

Performances January 21-24, 28-31, 2016
Thursday, Friday & Saturday Evenings at 7:30pm
Saturdays at 2:00pm; Sundays at 3:00pm

Rehearsals evenings and weekends December 28th-January 20th.

Auditions by Appointment on October 4th 1pm-5pm or October 5th 6-9pm. To schedule a time slot,please contact Jessica Picado, jpicado@thecarnegie.com

Children wishing to audition will be seen during the 1pm time slot on the Oct. 4th and the 6pm time slot on Oct. 5th.

What to Prepare:

  • Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show- An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Acappella auditions, or those with pre-recorded accompaniment, will not be considered.
  • There will be a short movement audition so please dress appropriately.
  • You may also be asked to read from the script.
  • Resume listing theatrical experience and headshot/picture are required to audition. Please bring with you to the audition, do not send in advance.
  • Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly.

  • Glinda (doubles as Aunt Em/Emily Gale)
  • Scarecrow (doubles as Hunk — a farmhand)
  • Tinman (doubles as Hickory — a farmhand)
  • Lion (doubles as Zeke — a farmhand)
  • Emerald City Guard (doubles as Uncle Henry/Henry Gale)
  • Miss Almira Gulch (doubles as Wicked Witch of the West) – Non-singing role.
  • Professor Chester Marvel (doubles as Wizard of Oz)- Non-singing role.
  • 4 Adult Ensemble members- playing Ozians,Winkies, and various featured roles throughout. Must be strong singers/dancer.
  • 8 Youth Ensemble members- playing munchkins,flying monkeys, jitterbugs. Must be confident singers and move well. Must beable to read from the script. Ideally aged 10 -13 years old.

Auditions Announced for JUNIE B. IN JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS at CenterStage Players

CSPOH_logoThe CenterStage Players, Inc. will hold auditions for JUNIE B. IN JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS.

Saturday, August 22nd, 3-5 PM and Sunday, August 23rd, 1:30-3:30 PM

Casting young actors (grades K-5) and adults for this non-musical comedy. Youth roles may be double-cast. No monologue or headshot necessary.

Auditions

CenterStage Players will hold auditions for their December performance of JUNIE B. IN JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS at their performance venue – The North College Hill City Center (1500 W. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231)

Auditions will take place on Saturday, August 22nd (3-5 PM) and Sunday, August 23rd (1:30-3:30 PM).

No appointment necessary.  Auditioners will be taken in the approximate order of arrival.

Auditioners will be asked to do cold readings from the script.

Rehearsal schedule will be determined based on availability of those cast and will be announced at a later date.  Rehearsals should begin in October.

Show dates are December 10th, 11th, 12th (2 shows) and 13th (2 shows), 2015.

So when Junie B. draws May’s name for Secret Santa, she comes up with the perfect plan to teach her nemesis a lesson! But will the Christmas spirit of peace and goodwill interfere before she can give you-know-who what she deserves? A hilarious and endearing tale based on the best-selling book series by Barbara Park.

Auditions Announced for A CHRISTMAS STORY The Musical at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

LAC_logoLa Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio will hold an open audition for their production of A CHRISTMAS STORY on Saturday August 15, 2015 at 765 W. Central Ave. Springboro.

9:00 am CHILDREN

  • RALPHIE PARKER: 10-13 year old boy. Needs to be a strong singer with an unchanged voice, also needs to act and move well.
  • RANDY PARKER: 8-11 year old boy. Needs to be a strong singer with an unchanged voice, also needs to act and move well.
  • SCUT FARCUS: 13-17 year old boy. The bully, every child in the town fears him. Needs to have a strong voice and presence on stage.
  • GROVER DILL: 13-17 year old boy. SCUT’S right hand man, just as mean as he is. Needs to have a strong presence on stage.
  • ENSEMBLE CHILDREN: 7-17 year old girls and boys will be used throughout the show and in production numbers.

10:30 am ADULTS

  • JEAN SHEPHERD/NARRATOR: 40-60. Strong actor with great presence and spark. He needs to be an animated story teller with a deadpan
    sense of humor.
  • THE OLD MAN: 30-50. Good heart, but a rough exterior, always expects the worst. High baritone/tenor range.
  • MOTHER: 30-50. More in charge than she lets on. Very much the “mom,” warm sense of humor.
    Mezzo soprano with a strong mix.
  • MISS SHIELDS: 20-40. The elementary school teacher. Needs to be a strong comedic actress. Comfortable with legit and strong Broadway style belt.
  • ENSEMBLE: 18-older, male and female strong singers/actors/dancers to fill multiple roles.
  • Be prepared to sing 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song appropriate to the show.
  • Be prepared to show movement ability, a dance combination will be taught to you.
  • Bring sheet music in appropriate key, resume, and headshot.

Production dates: Nov. 4-Dec. 31
Rehearsals begin for Adults on Monday October 19, 2015. Children rehearsals to be determined.

Auditions Announced for THE DINNER DETECTIVE Cincinnati

MISC_The Dinner Detective logoNow casting paid actors and comedians for the largest Interactive Murder Mystery Comedy Dinner Show in the United States, THE DINNER DETECTIVE.

AUDITION DETAILS: 

Where:

  • Huenefeld Tower Room, Cincinnati Main Library Downtown

When:

  • Auditions will be held from 6:30pm-8:30pm on Monday August 3rd, and Tuesday August 4th.
  • If you cannot make either audition times, but think you would be right for the role, submit your material for consideration at a later date.
  • Those auditioning should expect to stay for 2 hours but could be released sooner.

Seeking:

  • Actors/Comedians ages 18-55, for hire as ensemble members.
  • Shows are year-round on most Saturday nights, ending by 9:30pm.
  • Actors are scheduled according to their availability, collected each month.
  • Actors are not required to work every Saturday, as there will be a rotating cast.
  • Actors with improv experience are a plus.
  • Actors will be treated as professionals and expected to be professional. 

How to Submit:

  • Please send headshot and resume to dylan@thedinnerdetective.com (quality of headshot will not affect your audition, it is simply to be able to tell who you are)
  • State in the SUBJECT LINE of the email your preferred audition date (Monday orTuesday). We will do our best to accommodate your first choice.

Additional Details about The Dinner Detective

  • Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Show set in modern day with no costumes required.
  • This is a paid position, and you will get tips in addition to your base pay.
  • No campy dialogue. This is an improv based show, with locations all across the US.
  • Time commitment for regular shows is 4-6 hours including a pre-show rehearsal.
  • No weekly rehearsals required, you rehearse immediately before the show only when you are scheduled to work.
  • Show location is downtown Cincinnati
  • Roles rotate depending on actor availability collected & scheduled on a 1 month basis

Description:

In William Inge’s Pulitzer Prize winning “summer romance”, a handsome young drifter stirs up passions in a small Midwestern town during preparations for a Labor Day picnic. Characters:

  • Flo Owens – mother to Madge and Millie, stage age 40. Flo has struggled to keep her daughters fed and clothed after their father left them. She hopes Madge will marry Alan, and have the charmed life she didn’t have.
  • Madge – Flo’s pretty older daughter, stage age 18. Madge struggles with being the girl on a pedestal everyone wants her to be and finding out what she really wants.
  • Millie – Flo’s younger tomboyish daughter, stage age 15. Smart, opinionated and living in Madge’s shadow, Millie struggles with finding her own identity.
  • Helen Potts – Flo’s neighbor, stage age 60’s. Sweet and generous, close to the Owens family. Bears the weight of caring for her be-ridden mother.
  • Rosemary Sydney – Flo’s tenant, schoolteacher, stage age 40-55. The “queen bee” of the maiden schoolteachers. Likes to dress well and be the life of the party.
  • Irma Kronkite – schoolteacher, stage age 30-42. Rosemary’s loud, boisterous friend.
  • Christine Schoenwalder – schoolteacher, stage age 28-40. New to town buts fits right in with Rosemary’s gang.
  • Hal Carter *- drifter, former college football star, stage age 20. Though Hal is rough around the corners, he has a charm and natural sexuality that make him popular with women.
  • Alan Seymour – Madge’s boyfriend, town rich-boy and fraternity brother of Hal’s, stage age 20. Alan is smart and has good manners and adores Madge.
  • Howard Bevins – Rosemary’s boyfriend, local shop owner, stage age 40-60. Howard is an easy going bachelor who is more interested in his store than romance and likes things between Rosemary and him just the way they are.
  • Bomber – newspaper boy, stage age 15. Obnoxious teenage boy.

*The role of Hal has been pre-cast.
