Auditions Announced for STRANGER THINGS Parody at Improv Cincinnati

IC_logoImprov Cincinnati is producing a scripted Christmas-themed parody of Stranger Things.

The performances will be on December 8th and 15th. We are searching for talented actors who resemble the featured kid characters: Eleven, Dustin, Will, Mike, Lucas, and Max. All other roles have been cast.

Auditionees can be young teens or young-looking adults. IC recommends watching both seasons before auditioning, but it’s not required.

When: Sunday Nov. 12th; 1-3pm

Auditions Announced for BLUES IN THE NIGHT at Middletown Lyric Theatre

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prepare two numbers. One upbeat, one ballad. The genre of music should be Jazz, Blues, Gospel. You could certainly choose from any of the composer/lyricists listed in the synopsis or related to that style of songwriting.
  • Accompanist will be provided.
  • No Acapella singing or singing from a CD. MUST provide sheet music.

This Tony-nominated musical delivers 26 hot and torchy numbers. With little spoken text, the interweaving stories are defined through glorious songs that cover the range of this indigenous American art form, from Bessie Smith to Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Alberta Hunter, Jimmy Cox, Ida Cox and more, telling of the pain and misery of life and love… and also of the dogged determination to get through it all… that is the essence of the blues

  • The Woman Of The World
    A beautiful and stylish woman who came from a grandiose and rich lifestyle. She deludes herself into believing she is still living the high life and spends each evening preparing for the next gentleman caller. Hides behind a sophisticated veneer but is capable of great humor, sensuality, and emotion.
    Gender: Female
    Age: 50 to 60
    Vocal range top: A5
    Vocal range bottom: F3
  • The Girl With A Date
    A youthful, energetic, enthusiastic girl. Bright and clever, but innocent and prone to vulnerability. Her drinking reveals a range of emotions and surprisingly uncharacteristic bitterness.
    Gender: Female
    Age: 18 to 21
    Vocal range top: C6
    Vocal range bottom: E3
  • The Lady from the Road
    A warm and beautiful African-American woman. Humorous and full of gossip, she possesses a wealth of experience in her long life. Has fallen from grace and she knows it, but hopeful she will rise again.
    Gender: Female
    Age: 55 to 65
    Vocal range top: Ab5
    Vocal range bottom: E3
  • The Man In The Saloon
    A simultaneously very charming and slightly dangerous guy. Exudes confidence and control in his sly remarks to the women, but is secretly frustrated and lonely.

    Vocal range top: Ab4
    Vocal range bottom: Ab2

Auditions Announced for TICK, TICK…BOOM at Dare to Defy Productions

D2D_logoSun, Dec. 15 beginning at 5pm at 427 Washington Street, Dayton, Ohio.

Call backs will be later the same day at 7:00 (December 17th).

This show will begin rehearsals end of February/beginning of March and perform at the Mathile Theater (in the Schuster Center) on April 13th, 14th (2 shows), 20th and 21st (2 shows).

You MUST be 25 or older to audition for this show. We will NOT accept anyone under the age of 25.

Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the same style as the show.  The director may ask to hear another song (16 bar cut) from your music book.  NO MONOLOGUE NEEDED.

Please, bring a recent head shot and resume along with a completed audition form (which will be emailed a few days before auditions).

All positions are paid non-equity contract positions.

Auditions will take place at 427 C Washington St Dayton, OH 45402 – There is a big yellow sign on the street that says Warehouse Space for Sale or Lease and that is where you will turn. It is the third warehouse building on the right with the river on your left.

Character Breakdown: You must convincingly pass for 30.

  • Jonathan (Lead): Male, Pop-rock bari-tenor. A struggling composer on the brink of his 30th birthday; Strong narrator. A music geek with awkward tendencies; self reflective. Michael’s roommate and Susan’s boyfriend; ability to play piano is a plus but not required
  • Susan (Supporting): Female, Strong belt A flat to D; Jonathan’s girlfriend; uninhibited and dynamic; nurturing, loving and supportive but growing increasingly frustrated with Jonathan’s pre-occupation and lack of commitment. Same actress plays a number of additional character roles requiring terrific comic timing. Movement required for this role
  • Michael (Supporting): Male, Warm bari-tenor, full voice to an F. Jonathan’s best friend from childhood; helpful, kind, funny, successful. Also doubles multiple roles.
