Auditons Announced for CABARET at Cincinnati Actor’s Studio & Academy

CASA is doing CABARET this summer!!

Audition information is now available!! Rehearsals in June and July. Performances between July 29 and Aug 7. Stipends will be offered.

About: CABARET is a 1966 musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff. Daring, provocative, and exuberantly entertaining, Cabaret explores the dark and heady life of Bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich.

All performers age 16 and up are welcome, and we are specifically looking for a trans woman dancer for the role of Texas. The cast/crew list will be sent out no later than April 15, 2022.

Prepare one song with sheet music, no more than 1 minute in length. If you do not have sheet music, something will be assigned for you on site. You will read from the script (provided) after your musical audition.

You’ll be expected to complete a list of rehearsal conflicts.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?

Violet
The company’s Head Secretary and Mr. Hart’s Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious.

Auditions Announced for HEATHERS at Queen City Productions

QCP logo2Queen City Productions will hold auditions for its’ summer musical, HEATHERS, on Friday, April 15th from 7-10pm and Saturday, April 16th from 12-5pm.

HEATHERS is the darkly comedic musical based on the 80’s cult classic film. It tells the story of Veronica, a high school nobody who makes a deal with the queen bee Heathers to become a somebody, but at what cost? With both peppy and powerful songs and a plot full of twists and turns, you won’t want to miss your chance to be a part of this show. *Trigger warning: this show deals with issues like bullying, gun violence and suicide*

Auditionees should:

  • be at least 14 years old
  • prepare a 32 bar (1 minute) audition song that shows both their vocal ability and personality. auditionees can sing a capella or bring pre-recorded accompaniment. there will be NO accompanist to play sheet music
  • be prepared to do a short dance audition that will be taught to you

Auditions Announced for THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE at Voices of Broadway

Voices of Broadway is excited to announce auditions for their summer 2022 musical, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE! Please note: this VOB production is recommended for participants in high school (age 14) up to adult due to the complexity of the music. Cast will be select – not all that audition will be invited to participate.

Voices of Broadway is an educational program of Voices of Indiana, offering a fully-staged theatrical experience, with instruction for both what goes on onstage and backstage. There is a $35 fee to participate. Cast members will receive a show t-shirt (included in the fee). Limited tuition assistance and scholarships are available. $20 minimum deposit as a script fee upon acceptance of role.

Auditions will be at several locations.

  • CANCELLED SUNDAY, APRIL 3: 2-5 PM at Firmly Rooted Ministries (495 Ludlow Street, Greendale, 47025)
  • WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6: 6:30-8:30 PM at Greendale First Baptist Church (45 Tebbs Ave, Greendale, 47025)
  • CALL BACKS: SATURDAY, APRIL 9: 2-5 PM at Greendale First Baptist Church (45 Tebbs Ave, Greendale, 47025)

For your audition, please prepare a song or excerpt (at least 32 bars) from an operetta or musical theater show that best represents your singing voice. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Please note: do not expect to sing a cappella or with pre-recorded music. Auditionees may be asked to read from the script at auditions.

Please bring known conflicts between April 15 and July 17, 2022.

Rehearsals will start in late April/early May; performances are JULY 14, 15 (evening) and 16 (matinee and evening) at South Dearborn High School (SDHS) Auditorium.

Auditions Announced for The Dinner Detective

MISC_The Dinner Detective logoActors & Comedians are welcome to submit for an audition slot for The Dinner Detective. This is a paid opportunity that puts you in front of large crowds during interactive shows.

Where: Auditions will be held online via Zoom

When:

  • Auditions will be held on Monday, March 14th at 7pm EST
  • If you cannot make the audition time, but think you would be right for the role, please submit your material anyway for consideration at a later date

How to Submit:

  • Please send your headshot, resume, city and preferred audition date to dylan@thedinnerdetective.com
  • You will receive an email back confirming your audition slot with a Zoom link.

What to Expect in the Audition:

  • Please be prepared to improvise a few 2-person scenes, and showcase any relevant talents
  • Auditions may last up to an hour depending on size of group, but will most likely be closer to 30 minutes.

Additional Details about The Dinner Detective:

  • The Dinner Detective is a hilarious, live action, interactive Murder Mystery Show that takes place most Saturdays at the Embassy Suites Rivercenter in Covington
  • The show is set in modern day with no costumes required.
  • Paid position, tips in addition to base pay.
  • No campy dialogue. This is an improv based show, and we are looking for modern funny.
  • Time commitment for regular shows is 4-6 hours including a pre-show rehearsal.
  • No weekly rehearsals required, you rehearse only before the show you are scheduled to work.
  • Public shows are year-round, usually on 2 Saturday nights a month, ending by 9:30pm.
  • Actors are NOT required to work every Saturday.
  • Actors submit their own availability, collected each month.
  • Show schedules come out one month in advance.
  • Actors will be treated as professionals, and professional behavior is expected.
