Show Info:
Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally Blonde The Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show’s instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass – leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!

LEGALLY BLONDE JR follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle’s boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive.  As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

What to prepare and bring:

  • Song: Be prepared to perform 32 measures (no longer than 1 minute) of any song that highlights your voice. This should be a Broadway-type song. You should sing with karaoke-type music (no vocals) downloaded on your phone, iPod, or CD. There will not be an accompanist. (Please note, no WiFi is available in our building and cell service is spotty, so please have any music pre-downloaded.)

  • Photo: Bring a recent photo that looks like you, that you do not need returned. No need for professional photos, it is merely to help the casting board recall who is who.

The whole town has been without power for weeks. So today, Christmas Eve, a lot is going on. Electricity will be turned on, there is a ceremony to honor Uncle Cletus (of all people) for bravery. The Christmas show which was canceled at the school is being performed here. Crazy Captain Aunt Addie is putting on a wildlife show with her “triplets” and a some unexpected guests also drop by. All the while, Bo Dupree is lost at sea and hopefully Aunt Maddie won’t put a curse on the whole thing. God help us!

  • Tuesday, October 4th at 6:30 pm

The Arts Center at Dunham.
(Casting will be limited to young actors ages 8-18)

The children’s show at Sunset Players is a great way for children with little to no acting experience to gain some experience performing live theater.

The cast consists of 16-27 roles. Crew members and set builders are also needed. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Actors must be able to read.

Auditions will consist of reading selections from the script.

As this show takes place during the school year, and during the holiday season, rehearsals are kept as short and few as possible and will be based upon the availability of those auditioning. Please be prepared to supply a list of any known conflicts from October through the close of the production.

If you are interested in auditioning and can’t make the two dates listed, please email the director Bob Kelley at rke5858@gmail.com or text him at 513.828.9839

Auditions Announced for TUNA CHRISTMAS at Xenia Area Community Theatre

xactX*ACT Auditions: TUNA CHRISTMAS by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard

Directed by Russ Dern

Location: X*ACT, 45 E. Second Street, Xenia, OH 45385

Audition schedule: October 3-4, 7:00-9:00 or by appointment.  Auditions are cold reads from the script, no preparation required.

Performances: December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11

This comedy pokes fun at family relationships at Christmas time in small-town Tuna, Texas, circa 1980.  The roles are a reprise of Greater Tuna.

The roles are relatively small, so each actor will play two parts.  Scripts must be memorized, aside from scripted radio broadcasts, which may be read by four of the characters; most of the lines are conversation.  There is some swearing, but no F-bombs.  Although this was originally performed with two male actors playing all the parts, I am planning to use 5 women and 6 men.

Please email any questions to Russ Dern at sagefool@aol.com.
