Jerry Gorman is a regular guy from Passaic, New Jersey, who just got promoted to Snack Bar Manager at Wal-Mart. But what he really wants to do is fly. While the neighbors think he’s nuts, and his mother disapproves, his girlfriend Gracie believes in him and encourages him to follow his dream. Jerry soars to 16,000 feet with nothing but a lawnchair and 400 helium balloons. Loosely based on a true story, FLIGHT OF THE LAWNCHAIR MAN is a musical that inspires hope, and reminds us that dreams can come true if you believe in yourself.

Directed by Kim Warrick
Music Direction by Sarah Lingg
Produced by Christina Tomazinis & Heather Atkinson

The show runs weekends March 22-April 7, 2024

Actress Needed for Rose in HORIZONS OF GOLD at Bart’s Bards

BB_new logoBart’s Bards is searching for an actress to play one of the female leads in our upcoming community theatre production of Horizons of Gold.

Rose is a Mexican migrant; determined; loyal; passionate. Stage Age Early 20’s – Soprano with strong Mix/Belt.

We are sensitive to the historic under representation when casting ethnically specific roles and would ideally like to cast an actress with a Mexican or other Latina heritage to fill this role.

It is our hope that we can fully cast the show by February 12th. To that end, we ask that any interested actresses please contact the director, Fred Hunt by Monday, February 5th at 513.266.6755 or nwlsdhunt@fuse.net.

Rehearsals will begin on Saturday, March 2nd and continue on most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays up until the show dates of June 6th-9th.

We know our Rose is out there! If you know someone who may be the actress we are looking for, please pass on this information and your encouragement ASAP.

MOON OVER THE BREWERY Runs March 1-10

TCT_Moon Over the BreweryMOON OVER THE BREWERY
Troy Civic Theatre
March 1-10
[Troy]

Directed by Steve Dietrich

Cast: Autumn Zalar as Amanda, Liz Maxson as Miriam, Cody Peterson as Randolph & Mark Van Luvender as Warren

Miriam Lipsky, unmarried and living with her thirteen-year-old daughter, Amanda, works as a waitress to pay the bills, but it is her painting that really matters to her. Good subjects are scarce in the drab Pennsylvania coal town where they live, so Miriam dons a miner’s lamp and paints at night, when moonlight softens and transforms the stark landscape. Miriam is also desirous of male companionship, a need which the precocious Amanda (she has an IQ of 160) has discouraged by driving away suitor after suitor with her barbed comments….  Matters come to a head when Miriam brings home Warren Zimmerman, a rather unprepossessing, somewhat paunchy mailman who, at first, appears to be a perfect target for Amanda’s caustic remarks and demeaning intelligence tests.

When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and ’90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
