Unrehearsed Shakespeare, you say? Tell me more!
Well, since you asked…Unrehearsed Shakespeare is a grassroots theatre movement that’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like. A bunch of actors do Shakespeare without rehearsal. The level of staging/costuming/memorization/etc varies, but what’s consistent between productions are the spontaneity and improvisation that were germane in performances of these plays while Shakespeare lived. It’ll be oodles of fun for the actors and audience!

We will only have a read-trough and a small handful of staging and fight choreo rehearsals, so please bring a list of conflicts for the month August. Actors are encouraged, but not required, to learn as many of their lines as they can – but the show will be performed with scripts in hand.
Never done Shakespeare before? Intimidated by the language? No problem! Watch a movie version, and feel free to ask questions before or during auditions. Shakespeare is for everyone, which is why we’re doing this for free in a public park!
Auditions will be workshop-style: feel free to sign up for as many or as few time slots as you like. I want to see as many people do as many scenes in as many different combinations as possible – stay and play all afternoon, if you can! No need to prepare a monologue.
If you have any special skills (tumbling, juggling, etc.), I’d love to see them! Stapled resume and headshot are appreciated, but not required.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to complete some paperwork, and will be shown into the room during the next break between scenes. If you would like a copy of the audition paperwork to compete ahead of time, please let me know.
Callbacks, if needed, will take place the same day, from 5:00-5:30pm. If you are not called back, it does not mean that you are no longer being considered – it just means I’ve seen everything I need to see from you.
Actors of all ages (15+), races, gender identities, and abilities are welcome and strongly encouraged to audition.
Some roles may be doubled, gender-bent, or otherwise cast “non-traditionally.”
No roles have been pre-cast.
