trueSUFFRAGE From trueTHEATRE Going Online July 23rd

TRUE_logoFriends,

We sincerely hope all of you are safe and healthy and your friends and loved ones are, as well. Our Board Members and volunteers at True Theatre are healthy and getting by and looking forward to sharing some more stories with you!

Status of our next main-stage show:

While we seem to be on the precipice of some events being held “in-person” again (with social-distancing and other precautions in place), there has also been a lot of news about cases of COVID-19 spiking (particularly in Hamilton County). It is for your (and our and our storytellers) comfort and safety that we have opted  to hold our next show, trueSUFFRAGE (Thursday, July 23rd, 7:30PM), as scheduled, but entirely online.

trueSUFFRAGE celebrates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution — which states that the “right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex” — by being entirely dedicated to stories of female empowerment. Be prepared to be moved and inspired!

As with our last show, trueFAKES, which you can still watch at https://youtu.be/NOMi1cZeWL0, the show will broadcast live via Zoom (webinar format) and Facebook Live the show will be FREE.

The first 100 to register for the Zoom event will be able to take part in a poll which will affect our next season (so you definitely want to be in the Zoom audience, if you can!)
The show will be view-able after the fact, as well. In fact, because you are on our mailing list or are a current ticket-holder for trueSUFFRAGE, you are the first to be able to register for the Zoom event!

Register now by visiting: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_D-aWRKy_RzqkvKRQwRiNCw

Those of you who have already purchased tickets to trueSUFFRAGE (including subscription holders) will have the option to get a refund. We did not offer ticket-holders from our last show the option to donate the cost of their ticket to True Theatre, but some of you generously did that, anyway, so we have pre-arranged to make that possible this time, as well. NOTE: if you do nothing by close-of-business on Thursday, July 16 (one week before the show), a refund of your ticket(s) will be submitted. To expedite your refund or to donate the cost of your tickets, please contact the Memorial Hall box office during their normal business hours (Tuesday through Friday, 1-6pm at 513.977.8838).

Another alternative, if you are interested in donating your ticket-cost back to True Theatre, email dave@truetheatre.org and say so. We’ll coordinate the rest with the box office.

And for those of you who won, earned, or were otherwise gifted a ticket to trueSUFFRAGE, know that we will honor those tickets at a future show and will touch base with you about using those tickets as we near Season 11.

And what about Season 11?
As is our custom, we hope to announce details about our next season at our last show of this season, so there’s another reason to join us as we live-stream trueSUFFRAGE on July 23rd!

Stay true!

Thank you for your continued support of Community-building through the sharing of true, personal stories and True Theatre.

Even over the Internet, we believe that live-streaming of stories can break down walls and build bridges between people and that is why we cannot wait to bring you trueSUFFRAGE on July 23rd!

Stay healthy, stay connected, and stay true.

The Board of True Theatre

The Human Race Theatre Company Announces Changes to 34th Season Schedule

A letter from Kappy Kilburn and Kevin Moore

HRTC_new logoThe Human Race Theatre Company would like to thank our artists, audiences and community for their support and commitment to our work during this troublesome time. We could not continue to do what we do without that support.

Since March, when the pandemic forced us to close our season, we have worked with state and local officials, union representatives and other producers around the country to strategize reopening our theatre. We have listened to our audiences’ concerns about group gatherings and desires for a safe and celebratory return to LIVE theatre on our stage. After much thoughtful contemplation, we have decided to move forward with a new time frame for our full “Dayton Premieres” season.

In order to provide the safest experience for our audience and our artists, we are moving the entire season into the 2021 calendar year and will reopen The Loft in February, 2021. Below is the new schedule. Additional information on each production can be found at www.humanracetheatre.org.

At this time, if circumstances allow, we hope to kick-off our season with this wildly outrageous holiday feast. If we are unable to do it during this holiday season, we will present it in 2021.

THE ART OF US: A DAYTON MOSAIC
September 18, 19, 2021

For those who have already renewed their subscription – Thank You! Season packages will be mailed in the fall. Tickets will be adjusted based on preferred date and time in the run. HRTC is also refining our “Reopening Safety Protocol” so that everyone can return to the theatre with confidence. This plan will be announced to our audience before our season begins so that you will know what to prepare for and expect.

In the meantime, we are working on more virtual events for this fall that will both amuse and provide thoughtful escape. Stay tuned to www.humanracetheatre.org for updates.

For now, we encourage everyone to stay safe – wear masks in public – keep safe distances – and wash your hands regularly. These actions will allow us to gather together that much sooner. Of course, as the world changes we will remain flexible and will adapt. We look forward to bringing you these amazing stories and many more in the future. See you soon!

Footlighters Presents Virtual Radio Show, FIBBER MCGEE AND MOLLY: MAKING FUDGE

FLI_Fibber McGee logoNewport, KY – Footlighters will present Fibber McGee and Molly, taking place online on July 25th at 7:00pm and July 26th at 2:00pm.

The Johnson Wax Program with Fibber McGee and Molly (the show’s full sponsored name) is one of the rare radio programs which has achieved a kind of immortality. Well after the series petered out in the mid-1950s, people still respond to the words “Fibber McGee,” even if they’ve never heard the original. Performers and listeners today will find the show a time capsule, full of corny jokes, and timeless references. The show also emits genuine good feelings, a true sense of happiness, and plenty of lessons to be learned.

The virtual show will feature direction by Amanda Marasch-Brinkman and music direction by Matthew Nassida. Produced by Amanda Emmons Shumate.

Fibber McGee and Molly is the first of many virtual shows to come from Footlighters. In the midst of the global pandemic, they are proud to provide performers and patrons a safe outlet to enjoy the arts.

Footlighters will be accepting donations through their website (footlighters.org) as a “pay what you can” price to bring the show to their patrons.

When asked about the show, director, Amanda Marasch-Brinkman said, “With our version you have the option to tune in and listen or to log in and watch the adventure of putting on a radio show. Everything is rehearsed and performed remotely so in this current climate, it’s a safe way to create and entertain!”

Since 1963, Footlighters has brought to life a wide variety award winning plays and musicals. They aim to incite conversation through transformative storytelling and they pride themselves on inspiring as sense of community and using their intimate space to intensify the audience experience.
