Xavier University’s Digital Innovation, Film, and Television (DIFT) Seniors are currently casting actors for Senior Capstone Films
Xavier’s DIFT program is nationally recognized as the #7 Screenwriting Program and one of the Top 20 Film and Video Programs, with accreditation and recognition from the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts. This senior class has also earned the Audience Choice Award at the College Movie Festival for two consecutive years!
Auditions are held online through Zoom. We’ve extended our audition deadline past August 15. However, the sooner the better!
Once a time slot has been selected and our audition form has been submitted, a casting director will email the character’s sides in preparation for the audition.
We’re currently seeking both seasoned and young performers for a variety of exciting student film projects across multiple genres.
Roles for Young Performers
JUDGEMENT DAY
Janey finds a daunting list of chores to finish before her mom gets home. However, her real challenge isn’t the cleaning—it’s getting her headstrong and messy little sister, Rosie, to cooperate.
- Janey – (12-15), older sister – The peacekeeper of the family, she’ll do anything to avoid the consequences of her sister’s actions falling onto her. However, Rosie is getting older, and Janey feels it’s time for her to learn a hard lesson. Music is her happy place; she’s rarely without an instrument or earbuds.
- Rosie – (7-11), younger sister – Spunky, dramatic, messy, stubborn, but passionate. She is driven by her creativity. She always looks for loopholes and shortcuts. When it comes to chores, Rosie will find any reason to put them off. None of her actions come from a place of malice, though she’s a bit mischievous at times. She knows that if she waits long enough, Janey will probably help her.
MY BROTHER MARCUS
After her brother’s sudden death, a grieving teenage girl struggles to find meaning in what he left behind.
- Marcus– (17-18), male, brother – A loving and caring brother, charismatic, fun, helpful, kind, and pretty witty.
- Lila – (14-16), female, sister – Sharp witted but also a little sensitive. She sometimes masks her emotions with sarcasm. She’s depressed after her brother’s death, but makes sense of things at the end.
STILL SPINNING
A radio host sister and potter brother. Their lives spin in different directions, but they always support one another.
- Young Nico – 8-15, male non-speaking
- Young Nikki – 7-14, female non-speaking

- Mom– Early 40s, female – She’s trying her best, but she has got a million things on the agenda. When she gets frustrated, she can snap. The girls have different ways to cope with this. Janey does everything she can to ease her Mom’s stress, while Rosie likes to toe the line. The night before, Mom decided that she had enough of the messy house and left a to-do list of chores. She expects a clean house by the time she gets home…
MY BROTHER MARCUS
After her brother’s sudden death, a grieving teenage girl struggles to find meaning in what he left behind.
- Maya – 40s-50s, female, mother – a caring and loving mother. She’s also saddened by the death of her son, but stays strong for her daughter. She wants to comfort her in any way she can.
BACKDOOR
After visiting a shady website, a wanted criminal finds himself on a date with the woman of his dreams. However, he’s unaware that she is a government informant tasked with bringing him down!
- Rory – Early-mid 20s, male, wanted criminal
A recent college grad who lives with his roommate. He’s big into video games and the web, but he’s socially clumsy, even though he means well. Rory has a pretty unimpressive love life. After meeting “Ashley” through an online ad, he sees it as his big chance to get his girl.
