DPH_logoTue & Wed, Nov. 14 & 15 at 6:30pm

Dayton Playhouse, located inside Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark at 1301 East Siebenthaler Avenue, Dayton, OH 45414

Director Kathleen Clark is looking for singers/actors who would like to be part of a very fun, poignant show that takes a look at high school experiences; good and bad. Great songs and lots of comedy.

A good singing belt would be GREAT, but not mandatory. The actors/singers need to be, or look to be in their 30’s through 40’s and need to be able to hold a choral harmony part when needed.

AUDITION PROCESS:

  • Attend either Tuesday November 15, or Wednesday November 16.
  • You will be given an informational sheet and be asked to fill out your contact information.
  • Come prepared with approx 16 bars of a pop song that shows your range.
  • Be ready to do a cold reading from the script. If you are not asked to read, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are not being considered for the show.
  • There will be a meeting for those cast on Thursday November 16 at 6:30 PM.

Auditions Announced for PRIVATE LIVES at Beavercreek Community Theatre

bctDirected by Tim Rezash
Production: 2/2/24 – 2/11/23

Auditions: November 13 & 14, 2023 from 7-10pm

3868 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH, United States, 45432

Revived in 2002 by the Royal National Theatre in a production that sparkled on Broadway, Private Lives is one of the most sophisticated, entertaining plays ever written. Elyot and Amanda, once married and now honeymooning with new spouses at the same hotel, meet by chance, reignite the old spark and impulsively elope. After days of being reunited, they again find their fiery romance alternating between passions of love and anger. Their aggrieved spouses appear and a roundelay of affiliations ensues as the women first stick together, then apart, and new partnerships are formed. A uniquely humorous play boasting numerous successful Broadway runs with stars like Coward himself, Laurence Olivier, Tallulah Bankhead, Gertrude Lawrence, Tammy Grimes, Richard Burton, and Elizabeth Taylor.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

  • Elyot Chase: handsome 30-ish man; divorced from Amanda, remarried to Sibyl.
  • Amanda Prynne: 30-ish, beautiful, vivacious, independent, and
unconventional. Elyot’s first wife and own true love; married to Victor.
  • Sibyl Chase: Elyot’s second wife, young, blonde, 23, and the antithesis of Amanda.
  • Victor Prynne: handsome man, late 30s-40, slightly stodgy, current husband of Amanda.
  • Louise: Amanda’s French-speaking maid, totally confused by the bizarre interactions of the two couples; provides comic relief in Act III.
