THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG Runs Feb. 3-5

TCP_Play that Goes WrongTHE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG
Tree County Players
Feb. 3-5
[Greensburg, Ind]

Directed by Jeff Lincourt

Cast: Katy Prairie as Annie, Stage Manager, Devin Morgan as Trevor, Light and Sound Tech, Erich Davies as Chris (Inspector Carter), Brady Domingo as Jonathan (Charles Haversham), Matt Boersma as Robert (Thomas Colleymoore), Corden Simmonds as Dennis (Perkins), Evan Straber as Max (Cecil Haversham) & Morgan Kramer as Sandra (Florence Colleymoore)

“Break a leg!” takes on a whole new meaning for a woefully misguided troupe of players at the Cornley University Society’s opening night performance of The Murder at Haversham Manor. An unconscious leading lady, a corpse who can’t play dead, a ruffled detective, and a word-mangling butler (among others) must battle against technical gaffes, forgotten lines, and sabotaging scenery in a quest to arrive all in one piece at the final curtain call. Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, all mayhem, this 1920s whodunit is disastrously delightful.

Let your passions burn as Opera d’arte presents the tragic, but heroic love story between the Queen of Carthage and the hero of Troy. Henry Purcell’s only true opera, Baroque masterpiece Dido and Aeneas, is presented in a double bill with Giacomo Puccini’s raucous comedy, Gianni Schicchi, where we see a family passionately struggling to gain the inheritance of a dead relative, only to be outwitted by Gianni, who has his own passionate reasons to turn the tables! There is truly something for every opera lover in this double bill.

Synopsis: “Ain’t Misbehavin,'” is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., and music by various composers and lyricists as arranged and orchestrated by Luther Henderson. It is named after the song by Fats Waller (with Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf), “Ain’t Misbehavin.'”

The musical is a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride, and takes its title from the 1929 Waller song “Ain’t Misbehavin.'” It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller’s view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.

TCT_Princess and FrogDeveloped by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

Cincinnati – The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s 22-23 MainStage Season continues with PRINCESS & FROG at the Taft Theatre February 18 – 27, 2023. Tickets are on sale now at https://thechildrenstheatre.com/shows/princess-frog/.

“TCT is thrilled to adapt this fresh family musical based on the classic Frog Prince fairy tale,” says Artistic Director, Roderick Justice. “It may be winter outside, but it will be spring in the Taft Theatre. Audiences can expect to dive into the land of Astorya and go on an adventure with Princess Acrimonia and Prince Croaker, complete with tap dancing on lily pads! The first few rows might even wind up in the splash zone!”

Justice continues, “We are also excited for the MainStage directorial debut of Associate Artistic Director Maddie Burgoon Jones, who has been involved with TCT, both onstage and off, since she was nine years old.”

When a beautiful, but spoiled, princess throws her new golden ball down the palace garden well, she encounters an enchanted prince-turned frog, whose only hope of breaking his curse and turning back into a human is to be invited for dinner. Oh… and to be kissed on the nose by a princess. But this frog prince isn’t the only one under an enchanted curse. With the help of his amphibi-friends, the two form an unlikely bond by teaching each other the importance of self-discovery, friendship, and standing up to bad influence. This fresh new musical adaptation will have you croaking the showtunes all the way home!

For TCT’s 22-23 MainStage shows at the Taft Theatre, currently there are not any restrictions for entry. Masks are welcome, but not required. Safety is always our highest priority, and we hope you’ll treat each other with kindness and respect throughout your theatrical journey with us.
