The Epic Story is a melodrama that chronicles the adventures of a man and his two sisters on a quest to rescue his beloved Princess. Told by a theatre janitor anxious to share his ambitious story, this show has audience interaction, fast-paced dialogue, delightful characters, and hilarious sight gags. Influenced by the quirky writing of the Carol Burnett show, Monty Python, and movies like “The Princess Bride,” this show is guaranteed to keep the whole family entertained.

Applied Flute and/or Clarinet and Woodwind Area Coordinator Sought by NKU

NKU_SOTA logoThe School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a Non-Tenure-Track Temporary position in applied flute and/or clarinet and Woodwind Area Coordinator within the Music Program, beginning Fall 2021. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, program and school-level service, and academic mentoring. As a NASM accredited program, teaching responsibilities adhere to loads as prescribed by NASM.

The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University offers a wide array of degree programs in the visual and performing arts. The Music Program within the School of the Arts offers a BME in Music Education (Choral/Vocal and Instrumental), a BM in Performance (Instrumental, Jazz Studies, Piano Pedagogy, and Voice) a BM in Composition, and a BA in Music (Liberal Studies and Audio Production). Primary Responsibilities             

  • Teach applied flute and/or clarinet
  • Recruit and maintain a high-quality applied studio through teaching and performance activities
  • Coach woodwind chamber ensemble and other collaborative chamber music experiences
  • Coordinate Woodwind Area
  • Teach secondary classes which may include the following: Music Theory, Aural Skills, Applied Composition, Woodwind Methods or other courses as assigned. The Music Program is open to innovative and broad skill sets that may benefit our program in unexpected ways.

Qualifications  

  • Applicants should possess a doctorate in Music. Candidates with a Master of Music degree who have significant university- level teaching and recruiting experience and significant experience as a solo and ensemble performer may be considered.
  • Successful applicants will demonstrate the potential for a successful career in teaching and for distinction in professional activity and/or research.
  • Successful teaching at the university level (at least two years preferred) and significant experience as a solo and ensemble performer is required.
  • The candidate must remain current within the music discipline and apply continued knowledge towards course instruction, provide mentorship along with fellow faculty to music students, maintain office hours to be accessible to students and staff, maintain grades and submit mid-term and final grades through myNKU by established University deadlines, and work cooperatively with all SOTA faculty.

Auditions Announced for THE ODD COUPLE: FEMALE VERSION at Beechmont Players

You know all about Felix and Oscar. Now get on board with Florence and Olive!

Auditions will be held on July 29th at 7pm and on July 31 at 2pm at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, 1428 Eight Mile Road in Anderson Township. Enter Fellowship Hall from the south parking area. Please try to arrive at the beginning of auditions. If you will be later, contact producer Cathy Roesener at 513-231-8558

Be prepared to read from the script.

  • Florence Unger: compulsive neat freak, recently separated from her husband. Stage age 35-50
  • Olive Madison: compulsive slob, also separated- Stage age 35-50
  • Sylvie: Friend of Olive and Florence- stage age 35-50
  • Mickey: Friend of Olive and Florence, a police officer- stage age 35-50
  • Renee: Friend of Olive and Florence- stage age 35-50
  • Vera: Friend of Olive and Florence- stage age 35-50
  • Manolo Costazuela- upstairs neighbor of Olive, brother to Jesus

All ethnicities will be considered for all parts. There are no precast roles.

A trivial comedy for serious people, by Oscar Wilde

Directed by Steve Phelan

This theater classic features some of the wittiest dialogue ever written (and a chance to brush up your British accent!). Two young gentlemen bend the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. John has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull country life behind to visit the girl he adores in London. Algernon takes the name Earnest to secretly visit John’s beautiful young ward in the country. Things go awry when they all end up together one fateful afternoon.
