2021-2022 Season Announced by Beechmont Players

BPI_logoAfter almost a year off due to the pandemic, Beechmont Players is thrilled to announce their 2021-22 season.

THIS SEASON AND THE PRODUCTIONS MENTIONED ARE SUBJECT TO OHIO LAWS AND RESTRICTION REGARDING GATHERINGS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by Oscar Wilde
Directed by Steve Phelan
November 5,6,7,12,13 2021

Subtitled “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People,“ this is Oscar Wilde at his best. Two young gents have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolyn. Montcrieff decides to take the name Earnest when visiting Worthing’syoung and beautiful ward, Cecily. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered

THE ODD COUPLE, FEMALE VERSION by Neil Simon
Directed by Arlene Balczo
February 4,5,6,11,12 2022

Neil Simon’s revision of his hugely successful play, The Odd Couple, sees the lead characters transformed into Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Olive and their group of girlfriends are enjoying their weekly Trivial Pursuit night in Olive’s messy and ill-equipped apartment. As the game continues, Florence arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide, Olive invites her to move in as her roommate. However, Olive and Florence have VERY different personalities. Where Olive is messy, untidy, and unconcerned about the state of her apartment, Florence is obsessively clean, tidy, and obsessed with hygiene. Olive’s easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence’s highly-strung neurotic tendencies, testing their friendship to the limit. When Olive organizes a double-date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

WRONG WINDOW by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore
Directed by Alan Kootsher
May 6,7,8,13,14. 2022

Van Zandt & Milmore pay tribute to Master of Horror Alfred Hitchcock, with this comedy whodunit. Off-and-on New York couple Marnie and Jeff enter an even more complicated phase of their relationship when they think they spy their cross-courtyard neighbor do away with his wife. After they draw their torn curtain, the lady vanishes, and suspicion places murder beyond a shadow of a doubt. The bumbling witnesses sneak into their neighbor’s apartment – 39 steps away – and the fun begins. Among multiple door-slammings, body-snatchings, and a frantic flashlight chase scene, two questions remain: Who killed Lila Larswald? And… if she’s not dead…then who is? The crazy farce plays out on a shadow-box set that allows the audience to be present in one apartment, while viewing the action in its mirror-image neighboring unit across the way.

Mini-Headshot Sessions Fundraiser at Village Players

VP_new logoApril 1, 2021, Fort Thomas, KY—On Saturday, April 10th, Village Players of Fort Thomas will open its doors to the public (in a safe and orderly manner, of course) for the first time in more than a year as we offer mini-headshot sessions with local photographer Tracy Moser! 100% of proceeds benefit the Village Players of Fort Thomas.

For a minimum donation of $25, participants receive a fifteen-minute session at 8 N. Fort Thomas Ave. and 1-5 edited photos, which will be ready May 1st. Participants may bring a flash drive, or receive their photos via a link (photo size may be compressed). Tracy can take requests for color, black & white, or a variety when you sign in.

Clothing changes are allowed and there is space to change on-site, but simple is best in order to maximize time. Some tips from the photographer for getting a great shot:

  • Wear what you feel good in, but remember that dark colors look richer and nicer on camera and layers are a great way to add interest.
  • It’s best to avoid busy or strong patterns, shimmer, graphics, too many accessories, ill-fitting items, or turtlenecks or very low-cut tops.
  • Make-up is best kept simple, though light contouring can enhance a photo if done correctly.
  • Hair pulled back can create the appearance of baldness on camera.
  • In general, it’s best to look like yourself!
  • Tracy welcomes examples if you have an idea of something you’d like to try to recreate. Do some Googling!

Register for an appointment at https://www.villageplayers.org/headshots. Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled session, but don’t enter the building until that time so that we can minimize social contact (you know how unprecedented these times are!) Come in through the front doors on the street-level to sign in.

Credit cards and cash are both accepted, or you can pre-pay online using the donation link on the website’s headshots page. You can also join Village Players as a member prior to your appointment if you would like; membership forms will be on hand.

About the photographer: Tracy Moser is an amateur photographer in the Northern KY/Greater Cincinnati area. For the past several years, Tracy has worked closely with local theaters, primarily the Village Players of Fort Thomas, to capture live performance photos as well as actor and crew headshots. She also has experience in family, engagement, weddings, and much more (though her cats get the most time in front of her camera). After all of the distancing orders over the past year, Tracy is anxious to get back to taking photos again.

Village Players is grateful to Tracy for donating her time and talent, and to the community for helping us create and thrive this past year. We’re excited to offer this opportunity to local artists and to welcome you into our beautiful, historic building once again!
