Earth and Sky is about would-be poet and part-time librarian Sara McKeon, whose lover of ten weeks, David Ames, is found dead one hot August morning in the city of Chicago. It appears that David may have been involved in illicit activities, including kidnapping, rape and murder. Sara begins her own investigation of the crime and is led deeper and deeper through the urban labyrinth into the contemporary underworld. As the detective story moves forward in time, scenes from the love affair take us back to the moment when Sara and David first met. The plots converge, and Sara finds herself face to face with David’s murderer.

  • Sara McKeon – late 20s – a would-be poet and part-time librarian. Driven to find the truth about David.
  • David Ames – early 30s – Sara’s lover of ten weeks, who is found dead. Sara thought he was a nice guy, but was he really?
  • Detective Al Kersnowski – mid 30s – one of the detectives assigned to the murder investigation. An earnest crime-fighter. Fond of food. He may be brighter than he appears.
  • Detective H.E. Weber – 40 – the other detective assigned to the murder investigation. Cynical, tired – a curmudgeon.
  • Joyce Lazlo – early 20s – Sara’s co-worker, a librarian. Pleasant. She has a secret.
  • Billy Hart – early 30s – owner/bartender of Billy Hart’s Bar and Grill. He’s single. A good listener.
  • Carl Eisenstadt – 50 – a mysterious man with information. Can he be trusted?
  • Marie DeFaria – early 30s – an old friend of David’s. Does she know more than she’s telling?
  • Julius Gatz – 40 – another mysterious man. He’s not very pleasant.

Rehearsals will begin on or about Monday, January 13th with a read-through prior to that date, if possible. Questions? Contact the director at
