In an outrageous world, there is much to be outraged about. You have a great deal on your mind and much to say. But if you want people to hear you, the best way to do it is to make them laugh!

Offered in partnership with City Fusion, this two-day workshop will show you how you already have what you need to get those laughs: Perspective and passion. You will learn how to harness those attributes to construct the comedy sketch, the comedic monologue, and the character-based comedic essay.

Want to say goodbye forever to writer’s block? Discover structures and exercises that will serve you always? Customize your own personal comic tool kit?

With focused in-class writing activities, the viewing of classic comedy pieces, joyful & supportive improvisational games, and more, you will find your satirical voice.

Find that voice. Express yourself. Make ’em laugh.

Scott Levy returns from his adopted home of Chicago to his native city of Cincinnati. He now teaches for the Writing Program at the famed Second City Training Center. Before departing for the windy Lake Michigan Shores, Scott was an announcer and music host for Greater Cincinnati’s late, lamented WNKU, and was a writer and performer for The Monkeytime Comedy Troupe, who toured the region and produced the NPR syndicated program, It’s Monkeytime! Some of his other Chicago credits include being a writer and performer for the acclaimed satire The Best Church Of God, improvising in the Second City Unhinged show Every Old Man Was Once Young, and work as a contributor to the popular live weekly satirical magazine The Paper Machete.
