THE LONG WAIT IS OVER! FIND OUT WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THE
15TH ANNUAL CINCINNATI FRINGE FESTIVAL AT
THE 2018 CINCY FRINGE
LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT PARTY!
April 24th @ 6:30pm
Know Theatre’s Cincinnati Fringe Festival (May 29 – June 10, 2018) is 13 days of theatre, art, music, dance, and everything between — that’s kinda WEIRD. like YOU! And on Tuesday, April 24th we’re holding our annual Lineup Announcement Party at Know Theatre to let you in on everything there is to know about programming and events at this year’s 15th Anniversary Festival — including the unveiling of this year’s poster and imagery. There’s just so much to tell you about and we can’t wait!!!
Kicking off this year’s Announcement Party will be a special performance of the 2007 Audience Pick of the Fringe, Calculus: The Musical from Matheatre (Salt Lake City, UT), the only show in Cincy Fringe history to ever receive an extension of their run due to audience demand. For eight years, Know Theatre — in collaboration with Matheatre — sent Calculus: The Musical to hundreds of schools and events as a nationally touring production. In 2016 co-creator and original cast member Sadie Bowman resumed her original role in an updated version of the show on an independent Matheatre tour where it’s has been paired with artist (and Calculus co-star) Ricky Coates’ Tesla Ex Machina (itself a runaway hit at the 2015 Cincy Fringe). In Calculus: The Musical,
Isaac Newton joins forces with Ada, a modern math student, on a journey of discovery. Their adventures through the peaks and troughs of Calculus is a buddy comedy for the ages! Archimedes, Robert Hooke, Gottfried Leibniz, L’Hopital and Riemann are part of the action, from toga parties and accordion smackdowns to sick rhymes and dream ballets–you’ve never laughed so much in an hour of Calculus. Musical parodies that span genres–from Daft Punk to Eminem, Gilbert and Sullivan to Lady Gaga and Meghan Trainor–introduce and illuminate concepts of limits, integration and differentiation.
Developed by a high school math teacher, all ten hilarious, catchy songs deliver powerful mnemonic content proven to get stuck in students’ heads, actively aiding comprehension and memorization of formulas, rules and concepts! The quest for the instantaneous rate of change and the area under the curve comes vividly alive with an unforgettable soundtrack!
Calculus: The Musical will begin at 7:30pm on 4/24 and tickets are available now for $15 via cincyfringe.com, knowtheatre.com, or by calling 513-300-5669. Your ticket also includes admission to the remainder of the Lineup Announcement Party, which is a pay-what-you-can event.
Following the performance of Calculus: The Musical, Fringe Producer Chris Wesselman will take to the Know’s Underground cabaret stage for a special edition of the Channel Fringe Hard-Hitting Action News Update, the Festival’s info-taining nightly newscast.
Chris will reveal details behind this year’s Lineup of productions and programming, the venues and spaces in Over-the-Rhine that will be home to shows and performances, make some special announcements regarding this year’s 15th Anniversary celebration, and so much MORE!
Join us for this “Fringe for a Night” shindig where we’ll all pretend it’s already the end of May and all our kinda WEIRD dreams are coming true!
