Organizational Overview
The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is a professional organization for theatre education with more than 100,000 members nationwide. EdTA’s mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills. Summary

EdTA seeks a detail oriented resource to support the administration of the registration process for the International Thespian Festival.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the processing of more than 4000 event registrations.
  • Confirm that all documents related to more than 4000 program registrants are complete and accurate.
  • Manage aspects of the event registration help-desk, fielding calls and questions, to ensure that each registrant is properly registered and prepared to attend the event.

CCM Mainstage Series Continues with Thought-Provoking Drama LOVE AND INFORMATION

CINCINNATI, OH — UC College-Conservatory of Music’s 150th Anniversary Mainstage Series continues with a preview performance of Caryl Churchill’s LOVE AND INFORMATION at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 in Patricia Corbett Theater. Described by the New York Times as “thought-churning” and “deeply poignant,” the play explores how people connect in today’s technology-driven culture.

LOVE AND INFORMATION is presented in 68 self-contained scenes, some of which have no dialogue and are only seconds long. Every scene touches on ways people search for and consume knowledge, and explores how that information impacts their relationships.

“Caryl Churchill is known for creating experimental but also incredibly relevant and emotionally provocative dramas,” says CCM Acting professor Brant Russell, LOVE AND INFORMATION director. “It’s edgy but also extremely accessible and relatable.”

Some scenes give insight into familiar situations like breakups, reunions and depression, others feature seemingly superficial interactions like people dancing in a jazzercise class.

With 28 CCM Acting students portraying more than 100 characters, LOVE AND INFORMATION makes high demands of its cast. CCM’s Acting Department has cast every eligible acting student in the production, which excludes the freshman class.

“It’s our 150th Anniversary, so we wanted to show off what CCM Acting has to offer, and I think this play shows us off really well,” Russell says. “The design aspects are spectacular and the acting is phenomenal — it’s exactly what audiences have come to expect from CCM.”

The set is separated into seven areas to illustrate the play’s multiple locations, including a kitchen, an entry way, a bar and a psychiatrist’s office. Actors and lighting effects will guide the audience from scene to scene as the stage transforms in front of them like a kaleidoscope throughout the production.

Originally produced at London’s Royal Court Theater in 2012, LOVE AND INFORMATION was adapted for an American audience in a New York Theater Workshop. The themes and situations it presents are universal, Russell adds:

“Audiences will leave the theater having been plunged into a world of emotional conflict in our new era of information and will emerge with a new understanding of how we should relate to each other in 2018.”

Purchasing Tickets
Tickets to LOVE AND INFORMATION are $27-31 for adults, $17-20 for non-UC students and $15-18 for UC students with a valid ID. Tickets to the Feb. 7 preview performance are just $15.

Student rush tickets will be sold one hour before each performance to non-UC students for $12 or $15, based on availability. UC students can receive one free student rush ticket with a valid ID, based on availability.

Summary: To support the EdTA’s goals, strategies, and tactics by assisting with implementation of marketing and communications activities including marketing communications project management.

  2. Be a liaison among in-house client departments, external graphic designers, printers, and mail house to ensure that collateral materials are developed and delivered accurately and on schedule.
  3. Keep detailed, accurate records of schedules, bids, invoices and payments.
  4. Communications support including:
  5. Public relations: support the EdTA strategic goal of enhancing the Association’s stature through drafting and distributing national and local news releases about EdTA programs and member achievements using a service such as PR newswire. Conduct media monitoring and reporting.
  6.  Social media: assist in the development of strategy to create and maintain an optimized social media presence across all of EdTA’s channels, using analytics to inform and adjust strategy.
  7. Communications and content support including:
  8.  Writing promotional copy as needed for print and digital use
  9. Developing and deploying brand-consistent email using a platform such as RealMagnet
  10. Collaborating on the association’s annual report and managing its production

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Deadline driven with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and either Illustrator or InDesign, including development of web graphics, infographics, PowerPoints, etc.
  • Experience with an email service provider system
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize multiple projects; experience in coordinating with outside vendors including printing companies and graphic designers
  • A track record of measurable success in implementing strategy-driven content and management of social media platforms for an organization including analytical reporting
  • A track record of measurable success in media relations and experience with a news release distribution/media monitoring service
  • Experience in writing disciplines including marketing collateral, web articles, social media, annual reports, project reports
  • Proofreading skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with shooting/editing/posting short-form video for web

Auditions Announced for Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre

Requirements: Please bring a theater resume. A headshot is also highly encouraged. Those auditioning are asked to perform a 60-second comedic monologue. Accents include French, Russian, German, 1940s Gangster, 1940s GumShoe Detective.

Show synopsis
A strange accident occurs one night in the 1940s at Chez Mort, and we investigate the circumstances of this shocking event.

Character needs
Jean (or Joan) Paul Truffaut – host and nightclub manager. A Frenchman with a thick accent.. Is sometimes slow to understand what is happening around him.

Mack – Streetwise Stage Manager. Typical 1940’s hard boiled no nonsense guy.

Lady Lelu- glamorous night club singer. Has a bit of a hard shell under her beauty.

“Big Suit” Stu – sharp dressed gangster. Bark is much worse than bite.

Bodyguard (male or female) – Stu’s bodyguard. Speaks with a German/Russian accents. Not necessarily menacing in stature. A person of few words and some of them English.

Sweet Sue- ditsy girlfriend of Stu. Dreams of being as glamorous and popular as Lady Lelu. Unfortunately has no talent.

Chief Inspector Constantine – Police inspector who has been around the block a few times. Slightly unkempt and shabby. Sometimes has an issue keeping his facts and names straight. He has worked so many cases they all are starting to run together.

Smitty: quick-talking news reporter.

About the event
GHCT hosts a fun evening of murder mystery action and tasty food while raising money to keep it thriving. Plan to bring your friends — and your dollars!

The dinner theatre venue has changed for this year. ‘Last Call at Chez Mort” will be performed in the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center, 1601 University Blvd. on the Miami University Hamilton campus. Guests will enjoy a full catered dinner. Alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for cash purchase. There will also be raffle baskets..
