Auditions Announced for THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON at RiverStage Community Theatre

Inspired by the book by Johann David Wyss. Adapted for Renaissance Theatre by Ann Swanson.  Adaptation revised by Gayl Miller & Bob Baker.

Setting : Late 1880’s on an unmapped tropical island.

  • Reverend John Robinson; (m) 40ish; a minister-turned-missionary
  • Elizabeth Robinson: (f)  late 30’s, wife and mother
  • Fritz Robinson: (m)  17 years old, responsible and reliable
  • Ernest Robinson; (m) 13-16 years old; gregarious and fun-loving
  • Jack Robinson;  (m) 11 years old, a bookworm and artist
  • Francine Robinson; (f)  8 years old, a tomboy
  • Jennifer Montrose;  (f) 16 years old, survived alone on the island for
    over a year
  • Captain James Littleton; (m) 30’s-40’s; commander of British ship

Synopsis
Hamlet’s a challenge for any actor, but when Jessica is cast as the titular character in a New York production, it sends her into an existential tailspin. It doesn’t help that her acting coach is borderline abusive, or that every Starbucks barista with an MFA tells her she’s too young for the role. Or that she’s somehow managed to make Sir Patrick Stewart her nemesis. Not to mention the fact that she’s a woman. How can Jessica figure out “to be or not to be,” when she can’t even figure out herself?

CASA_Love's Labour's Lost logoJULY 7, 2017—Tristate audiences are invited to have fun with the classics! Cincinnati Actor’s Studio & Academy presents LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST: A Musical Adventure

Shakespeare’s tale of LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST tells of a few lords gathering at the new court of Naverre determined to educate themselves in anything the books will teach, but they end up getting taught a lesson in love. Now imagine the late 1940s Europe, devaststed by WWII, desperately in need of rebuilding its culture and enjoying life. Put these together and you find yourself in a world swirling with Shakespearean language, classic music by the likes of Cole Porter and Gershwin, singing, dancing, and a celebration of loving life!

This production is the 2nd in CASA’s 2017 Summer Series and runs from July 13th-23rd at Essex Studios. This show is directed & by Gina Cerimele-Mechley. Cast includes: Aiden Dalton, Finney Kutcher, Kat Sweeney, Matt Berman, Katie Teirney, Ben Cohen, Grace Wesson, Katie Kenniston, Sydney Mahon, Faith Dansberry, Amy Helms. Production crew includes Olivia Cremisio as Stage Manager, Kyle Goold as Asst. Choreographer/Asst. Stage Manager and Evan Holzman as Videographer.

Performances run July 13th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, & 23rd at 7:30PM and will take place at Essex Studios, 2511 Essex Pl, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. In addition, as part of The Ghostlight Project, all summer long, theaters and theatre-makers across the country will take part in this initiative, meeting their neighbors, making meaningful connections with community organizations in their area, and learning how to be of service. CASA is proud to be taking part in this initiative. Throughout our Summer Series, CASA will be collecting canned foods for the Freestore Foodbank of Cincinnati as well as clothing & household items for the Off the Streets program at Anna Louise Inn, located in Clifton. Auditions Announced for BECKY’S NEW CAR at Mariemont Players

Synopsis
This laugh-out-loud amusement park ride will take you on a comedic cruise through the perils of middle-aged longing. Fasten your seat belt and enjoy the deadpan humor and U-turn plot twists as Becky leads you down the road less traveled.

Characters (4 men, 3 women):

  • Becky Foster (45-55+): The center of the story. Charming, funny, engaging, honest, charismatic. Becky is a wife and mother.  She is loyal, hardworking, and missing something. What? She’s not sure. Becky is required to interact with the audience during the production.
  • Joe Foster (45-55): Becky’s husband. He is strong, pragmatic, honest, sharper than he looks and a loyal family man with a big heart.
  • Chris Foster (23-28): Becky and Joe’s son. He lives in the basement. He is a graduate student studying psychology. He is smart, funny, easy-going, yet passionate – a good kid.
  • Walter Flood (50-65): A very wealthy businessman recently widowed. He is charming, friendly, gentle, and a bit out of touch, especially when it comes to members of the opposite sex.
  • Kensington (Kenni) Flood (23-28): Walter’s daughter. She is pretty, cynical, smart, a bit spoiled – yet grounded.
  • Steve (40-55): A recently widowed car salesman who works with Becky. He is neurotic, emotional, whiny, manic, clueless. He’s a bit of a nebbish, but not a bad guy underneath it all.
  • Ginger (45-55): Walter’s single neighbor who has recently lost all of her money and the things that go along with it. She is jaded, funny, honest, and lonely.  She’s on the prowl.

Auditions will consist of cold readings of the script. Resumes and head shots are appreciated and encouraged.
