Directors Sought for 2017-2018 Season at Mariemont Players

The MPI Artistic Committee is seeking directors for our 2017-2018 season.

When you fill out the application form you will be able to submit plays that you would like to present on our stage.  Our season slots are September, November, January, March, May and July. We are looking for vehicles including Comedy, Drama, Family Fare, Small Musicals and Musical Revues to entertain and enlighten our patrons.

The committee would appreciate receiving your application by August 1, 2016.

Theater Technician Needed at Mount St. Joseph

Status: Part-Time, As needed

Department: Campus Facilities

Reports to: Lead Theater Technician, Coordinator of Campus Events and Conference Services

Purpose: The Theater Technician assists in stage, sound, and lighting services as needed for events on Mount St. Joseph University’s campus.

Primary Contacts: Coordinator for Campus Events and Conference Services, Theatre Technicians, students, and campus visitors

Supervision Exercised: None

Supervision Received: Works under immediate supervision with work assignments reviewed at frequent intervals or at pre-determined times.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma required.
  • Experience: Professional-level experience in stage, sound, and lighting setup.
  • Specialized Training: Must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be available at various times and days throughout the week which can include weeknights and/or weekends as needed.

  • develop and nurture an effective, productive and respectful rapport and working relationship with students, co-workers, and various campus and community constituencies maintaining appropriate level of professionalism
  • communicate information clearly and concisely and listen well to others
  • must possess effective communication skills

Accuracy:

  • maintain a high level of accuracy, consistently reviewing work to detect errors, oversights or omissions

Initiative:

  • take immediate and independent action when necessary assuming initiative for creative problem solving
  • accomplish tasks with follow through to completion

Work Environment, Physical Demands:

  • Occasional lifting and work on eveings and weekends to accommodate event schedule.

Frank is the nanny of Brandon, a 30-year-old man who lives his life as a toddler 24 hours a day. After three years, the two have grown close and Frank is troubled when he notices self-destructive tendencies in Brandon. He recruits Sandy, an altruistic but lost woman he meets at the park to go undercover as another adult baby to find what’s hurting Brandon without alerting his mother, his greatest enabler.

When 4th grader Johnny shoots himself, he leaves behind a play as a suicide note that the kids in his class are forced to perform as a memorial. As friends and bullies assume the roles of Johnny and his classmates, a heartbreaking, darkly curious story emerges, offering a glimpse into the motivation behind Johnny’s actions.

Auditions Announced for RAVENSCROFT at Mariemont Players

  • Tuesday, August 2nd – 7 PM

Location: 4101 Walton Creek Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45227

Performance Dates: November 4th-20th, 2016

Synopsis: On a snowy night, Inspector Ruffing is called to a remote house to investigate the headlong plunge of Patrick Roarke down the main staircase. He becomes involved in the lives of five alluring and dangerous women: Marcy, the beautiful Viennese governess with a past; Mrs. Ravenscroft, the flirtatious lady of the manor; Gillian, her charming but possibly demented daughter; Mrs. French, the formidable and passionate cook, and Dolly, a terrified maid. They lead him through a bewildering labyrinth of contradictory versions of Patrick’s demise and that of the late Mr. Ravenscroft. There are ghosts on the staircase, skeletons in the closet, and much more than the Inspector bargained for. His investigation leads into own tortured soul and the nature of truth itself.

Accents: Accents will be used for this production.  We have an excellent dialect coach as part of the production team.  You do not need to use an accent for auditions, although you are certainly welcome to try one on.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Bring resume and known conflicts for the period September 12th through November 20th.  Rehearsals will be determined by the availability of those who are cast. Headshot not necessary but welcome.
