A diverse group of fun-loving patrons at a local hipster cafe are brought face-to-face with their fears when confronted by a larger society that seems to be crumbling like the famous NY-style black and white cookies that the cafe is known for. One by one, as they are confronted by the issues at hand, they learn to face one another honestly as they grapple with the awkward truths revealed as the story unfolds. 70 minutes.

Walnut Hills Group Theatre Presents A NIGHT WITH DREAM KEEPER in FringeNext Series

As a part of this year’s Cincinnati Fringe Festival’s FringeNext Series
The Walnut Hills Group Theatre proudly presents
A NIGHT WITH THE DREAM KEEPER by Austin Lamewona

CFF_A Night with the Dream Keeper logoCincinnati, Ohio – May 21, 2016 – For the first time in history, an audience is welcomed into the private library of the Dream Keeper, a supernatural being who watches and records people’s dreams. For one night, the Dream Keeper will weave through the dreams and subsequent real-life sequences of four very interesting characters who come from four very different walks of life.

Austin Lamewona is the winner of the Against The Grain Student Playwriting Contest, an international competition that received submissions from six continents, seventeen countries, and featured one high school winner to receive a workshop with professional actors, directors, and designers in New York. His winning play, A NIGHT WITH THE DREAM KEEPER, will be showing in the Art Academy Auditorium as a part of this year’s Cincinnati Fringe Festival.

A NIGHT WITH THE DREAM KEEPER saw its premiere on May 18, 2016 in the Walnut Hills High School Recital Hall with a full house.  The show is produced, directed, and performed entirely by WHHS students. It has been in the works since August and features Seniors, Austin Lamewona, Maddie Eaton, and Claire Patterson, and Juniors Devin Knott and Kayla Fiasco.

Austin Lamewona, wrote, directed, and also plays Unk in the production of A NIGHT WITH THE DREAM KEEPER. He has had another play, Next, published by the online publisher, Off the Wall Plays. Maddie Eaton plays the Dream Keeper, the title character and bubbly hostess of the evening. She has not only won local awards for her roles in WHHS productions, but will also be attending the Michigan University school of theatre in the fall. Claire Patterson plays Kourtney, the good-natured antagonist of the show. She has also been a mainstay in the Walnut Hills theatre department and will be studying Psychology and will be studying psychology and early childhood education at Belmont University in Nashville.

“Being able to finally show what the students can do and show what they’ve learned just from high school theatre and being mentored by truly talented teachers” sums up what the experience of a student-run production is like to Junior, Devin Knott. And judging from the success of the May 18 premiere of this charming and poignant piece, these students comprise quite the dream team.

A NIGHT WITH THE DREAM KEEPER will be performed in the Art Academy Auditorium at the following dates and times:

June 4 @ 7:15
June 6 @8:45
June 7 @ 8:00
June 9 @ 6:30
June 11 @ 1:25

Schedule C Productions Proudly Presents VELOUR at Cincy Fringe 2016

CFF_Velour logoThe creators of Where Is My Mind? (Critic’s Pick 2012) and The King & I: a Hunk of Burnin’ Love (Critic’s Pick 2014) are back for their 3rd Cincy Fringe with VELOUR, the story of Vinnie Velour,  former Driver to the Stars and current wannabe lounge singer. After his opening gig at the Palace Hotel Ballroom goes badly, Vinnie must fight for the right to sing again via a series of audience-chosen variety acts, including everything from plate spinning to tightrope walking, sword swallowing, and more. The audience choice component offers 27 possible outcomes, making every show completely unique!

“Most fun I’ve had fringing so far. One of this year’s best!” ~Indyfringetalks.com

CFF_Velour promoKevin Holladay, creator and star of VELOUR, has always been a fan of Hollywood’s Golden Age, when entertainers would routinely sing, dance, and perform variety acts in addition to acting. In fact, he’s spent much of his life being a bit of a renaissance artist himself, generating work as a playwright, actor, musician, storyteller, emcee, professional wrestler, and circus clown. Holladay was even an artist/instructor with the National Circus Project in New York, where he developed many of the variety acts in VELOUR.

“There’s nothing Vinnie can’t do…à la the screwball comedies of the ‘40’s. He also delivers the wildest, weirdest range of songs; including crooner classics, Mr. Rogers covers, and the funniest version of Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ I’ll ever see.” ~Nuvo Magazine

“Velour is a true talent.” ~John Lyle Beldon

Holladay is joined onstage by Jesska Pinyon, who plays the sassy, straight-shooting Palace Ballroom Booking Manager, Lux Lamé. Pinyon is Holladay’s partner in life as well as in his company, Schedule C Productions, having joined the team in 2013 to play the female lead in his play, The King & I: a Hunk of Burnin’ Love. The couple performed the show together at festivals in Cincy, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Rochester, NY, as well as at a special command performance for Elvis’s 80th birthday sponsored by the Indy Eleven professional soccer team. They premiered VELOUR at the 2015 Indyfringe, but have a special place in their hearts for the Cincinnati festival, where they actually got engaged in front of a sold out house the year before.

“Funny, sweet, well-written, and expertly performed, VELOUR even jerked a tear. One of my top picks!” ~Casey Ross Productions

VELOUR has a run time of 55 minutes, and can be seen at the Arts Academy Commons:

Friday, June 3, 6:30pm
Sunday, June 5, 6:30pm
Monday, June 6, 9:05pm
Friday, June 10, 9:20pm
Saturday, June 11, 3:00pm

Holladay will also be performing at the same venue in The O’Debra Sisters’, The Secrets of Avondale Falls. Visit www.cincyfringe.com for tickets and more information.
