THE SHAPE OF THINGS
New Edgecliff Theatre
April 14-30
The Hoffner Lodge [Northside]

Directed by Elizabeth Harris

Cast: Carter Bratton, Matthew Krieg, Leah Strasser & Rebecca Whatley.

How far would you go for love?  Or for art?  What concessions would you make?  What price would you be willing to pay?  Such are the painful questions explored by Neil LaBute in The Shape of Things, a modern day retelling of the fall of man.  After a chance meeting in a museum, Evelyn, a sexy, aggressive artist, and Adam, a shy, insecure student, become embroiled in an intense affair.  Before long, it veers into the kind of dangerous, seductive territory that LaBute does best, as Adam, under Evelyn’s steady influence, goes to unimaginable lengths to improve his appearance and character.  Only in the final and shocking exhibition, which challenges our most deeply entrenched ideas about art and love, does Evelyn reveal her true intentions.

GoodPeople Theatre Co Proudly Presents THE BUZZER

A WORLD PREMIERE PLAY WRITTEN AND DIRECTED
BY MOLLIE JEANETTE AMBURGEY

GPTC_The Buzzer logoFor the first time in their production history, GoodPeople Theatre Co. is producing a two weekend show that is not only a Cincinnati premiere, but also a world premiere. The production, titled THE BUZZER, tells the story of an everyday modern woman named Ali, who thinks she is supposed to arrive at a marketing corporation for an interview, but instead is approached by a supreme being – whether that being god, the devil, or an unknown spiritual element. With the exception of death, “Spirit” gives Ali the chance to alter three instances in her life through the click of one object: a buzzer.

THE BUZZER, written and directed by Mollie Jeanette Amburgey, stars Meredith Bowen as ‘Ali,’ Jonathan Gaietto as ‘Eric,’ Nathan Henegar as ‘Will,’ and Torie Pate Perdue as ‘Spirit.’ Photography is by Carrington Rowe, graphic design is by Shawn Toadvine, and videography is by Hayley Drewyor.

The production will be taking place at First Lutheran Church Cincinnati (specifically The Upstairs Balcony) on 1208 Race Street. On opening night, Thursday, April 21st, tickets are $10 for EVERYONE. On Friday performances, April 22nd and April 29th, as well as Saturday performances, April 23rd and April 30th, tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for current military members/veterans, $11 for seniors 55 year of age or over, and $10 for students/theatre artists (proper identification must be shown at the door). Card or check ONLY at the door. All performances will begin at 8pm, house will open at 7:30pm.

Tickets can be purchased online at goodpeopletheatre.ticketleap.com/thebuzzer or at the door if performance is not sold out. Tickets can also be purchased on the phone by calling Artistic Director Mollie Jeanette Amburgey at 513-377-7783. Any other questions can be directed to heygoodpeopletheatre@gmail.com.

SILENT SKY Runs April 15-May 14

KTC_Silent Sky logoSILENT SKY
Know Theatre of Cincinnati
April 15-May 14
Over-the-Rhine

Directed by Tamara Winters

Cast: Annie Fitzpatrick as Annie Jump Cannon, Justin McCombs as Peter Shaw, Miranda McGee as Margaret Leavitt, Regina Pugh as Williamina Fleming & Maggie Lou Rader as Henrietta Leavitt

The true story of 19th century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt plays out against a landscape of fierce sisterly love, early feminism, universe-revealing science, and a time when humans were called “computers.” This beautiful play from Lauren Gunderson (author of Know’s Toil and Trouble and Cincinnati Playhouse’s The Revolutionists) reveals how a group of extraordinary women found a way to measure the universe, providing a glimpse of the light within us all.
