Auditions Announced for 2016 Summer Season at Richmond Shakespeare Festival

RSF_logoRichmond Shakespeare Festival in Richmond, Indiana is seeking all roles in our 2016 Summer Season of KING LEAR and COMEDY OF ERRORS (with the exception of the role of King Lear, which has been precast). Non-Equity and Equity. AEA will be given priority at auditions. RSF is using only one AEA contract in this phase of our transition to SPT 4 and this will be used for the role of King Lear – HOWEVER – we will be happy to meet members of AEA interested in being considered should the role become available, or who wish to get to know us.

When: Saturday, February 6 & Sunday February 7 – 11am to 6pm – Callbacks Monday, February 8 – 6-10pm

Where: Earlham College Campus – 801 National Road West, Richmond, IN 47374

Campus Location: Carpenter Hall, Rm 220. Pull onto main campus entrance from National Road. Carpenter is brick building with white tower near large parking lot on right.

No appointments/Calls. First come/first served (AEA priority). Prepare 2 contrasting classical monologues not to exceed 3 minutes total. Bring HS/Res. Out of town Housing provided, some non-AEA roles paid, internships and college credit possible.

Rehearsals begin May 10. Comedy previews June 8, opens June 10. Lear previews June 15, opens June 17. Shows run in Rep until June 26.

To all my Cincinnati community theatre friends, and everyone who knew and loved Jack McKee. Jack’s wife Vickie asked me to let you know about his funeral services. Visitation is Wednesday, January 27, 5-8 pm at T.P. White Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave. in Mt. Washington. Memorial Mass on Thursday, January 28 11 am at Chatfield College Chapel, St. Martin,OH (Fayetteville, Brown County). I copied the obituary from Cincinnati.Com below. Please share this information. MCKEE Jack W., beloved husband of Vickie McKee (nee Busse), devoted father of Ian McKee, dear brother of Jim (Bonnie) McKee, son of the late James and Darlene McKee, also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family. Jan. 21, 2016. Age 57 years. Residence Batavia, OH. Jack was a well read and universally respected man leaves behind precious memories with not only his loved ones but those blessed enough to be his friends in his numerous philanthropies, most notably the Cincinnati Opera Guild and the May Festival Chorus. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Chatfield College Chapel, St. Martin, OH (Fayetteville, Brown County) on Thur. Jan. 28, at 11 AM. Carnegie Announces 2016-2017 Theatre Series

PARTNERS WITH NKU’S COMMONWEALTH THEATRE COMPANY TO KICK OFF SEASON WITH HIT MUSICAL,
ROCK OF AGES

COVINGTON, KY- The Carnegie’s 2016-17 Theatre Series Season promises high-energy performances, great musical numbers, and plenty of humor.

The Carnegie will kick off the 2016-17 season in the Otto M. Budig Theatre this August with the musical ROCK OF AGES, a show that will have patrons rocking out to their favorite 80s songs. Then in November, The Carnegie takes on LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, a play that examines the interconnectedness of women’s lives and wardrobes with wit, humor, and poignancy. Strike up the band in January for a stupendous production of THE MUSIC MAN, a family favorite sure to get toes tapping to its iconic score. The Carnegie will end its season in March with its fourth and final production, a show that will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

ROCK OF AGES is a classic boy-meets-girl tale, set at the end of the 80s to all the hair-band hits you loved. Drew is an aspiring rock star working at a bar when he meets Sherrie, a young woman who has just arrived in L.A. to seek fame and fortune as an actress. The two quickly find they have feelings for each other, but the trials and tribulations of the rock and roll lifestyle keep them apart. Drew must decide between his dreams of stardom and the woman he loves before she boards a midnight train going out of town.

Full of your favorite 80s hits, ROCK OF AGES features such songs as “Hit Me with your Best Shot,” “Sister Christian,” “We Built this City,” “The Final Countdown” and many, many more. This fun-filled evening of rock anthems will have you dancing in the aisles and singing along in your seat.

LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE

This incredibly humorous and touching play explores the lives of women through 28 interwoven characters who share their memories of love and loss as framed through the clothes they wore. From prom dresses to miniskirts, the female obsession with black, and the hunt for the perfect purse, LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE cheers and jeers the idiosyncrasies of the female experience.

An Off-Broadway smash, adapted for the stage by Nora Ephron, writer of Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and You’ve Got Mail, this play has enjoyed sell-out runs at theatres and playhouses the world over; and has featured such funny women as Rosie O’Donnell, Tyne Daly, Kristin Chenoweth, Jane Lynch, and Kristin Wiig as members of its cast. Enjoy this masterpiece of wit and wisdom for women and those who love them.
