Casting News for Two CCM Musical Theatre ’12 Alum

Jessica Henday as Diana and Mike Schwitter as Gabe.

Jessica Henday as Diana and Mike Schwitter as Gabe in ETC’s NEXT TO NORMAL.

John Riddle is headed to The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for the world-premiere production of LITTLE DANCER, running Oct. 25-Nov. 30.

The production is directed and choreographed by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman and features book and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lynn Ahrens & music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty.

“Part fact, part fiction, and set in the harsh backstage world of the Paris Opera Ballet,” press notes state, “Little Dancer is inspired by the young ballerina who posed for Edgar Degas and became, inadvertently, the most famous dancer in the world. Torn by her family’s poverty, her debt to the artist and the lure of wealthy men, Marie struggles to keep her place in the ballet corps—a girl on the verge of womanhood, caught between the conflicting demands of life and art.”

More information is available in this story on Playbill.com.

Mike Schwitter, who audiences may remember as Gabe from ETC’s NEXT TO NORMAL, is heading to the Broadway run of PIPPIN as Lewis.

Currently the role of Lewis is being played by another CCM MT alum, Erik Altemus, class of ’09.

Congratulations to John & Mike!

I LOVED, I LOST, I MADE SPAGHETTI
Presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Sept. 27-Nov. 2
Eden Park

Directed by Rob Ruggiero

Cast: Antoinette LaVecchia as Giulia

Giulia Melucci’s memoir has been described as a foodie’s dream version of Sex and the City or Eat, Pray, Love with recipes. Now, the popular book becomes a hilarious play. For Giulia, a new date is the perfect opportunity to show off her Italian home cooking. While preparing a three-course dinner from scratch, she recounts stories of good food and bad boyfriends. Her superior tasting cuisine far surpasses her inferior taste in men in this mouth-watering new comedy. Appropriate for adults and older teenage audiences. It contains strong adult language, some talk associated with adult romantic relationships and several stories of very bad boyfriends.

LTC Seeks Directors for 2015-2016 Season

LTC_logoThe artistic committee of Lebanon Theatre Company would like to invite you to meet with us Saturday September 20, 2014, 8 a.m.- 12 pm, to give us a pitch for shows you might like to direct for our 2015-2016 theatrical season. The pitch should include brief description of the play(s) or musical play(s) and a view of how it would fit in with the LTC standard and sensibilities. You might consider the cast requirements, special settings, costumes or other aspects that would give the committee a better idea of how the show would play out (pun intended).

So if you are willing to chat with us about a show or shows that you have a passion for, get your ideas together and contact me to set up an appointment.

We have been tossing titles around in our discussions. You may want to consider one of these, but they are only suggestions.  We will entertain proposals for any show that you care to present to us.  These are the ones raised so far: Heaven Can Wait, The Sting, God’s Favorite, Murder on the Orient Express, and Web of Murder.  Our shows have traditionally been in September, March, and May for the main stage season. In addition, we are considering a Christmas show that would preferably involve children in the cast. As examples, in the past we have presented A Christmas Chaos, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and Eeyore’s Christmas.

Please reply to jesstuck73@yahoo.com to let us know if you can make the September 20 date.  Please include the 30 minute time slot that you would prefer, as well as a backup time.  If that date is not possible, please let us know and we will attempt to find an alternative time for you.
