Give to CAA in Feb by Giving Flowers or Giving Blood

CAA_combined

Cincinnati, OH – During the entire month of February, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) will partner with Jones the Florist and the Hoxworth Blood Center in two separate fundraising efforts in support of CAA’s arts education programs, which reach upwards of 50,000 students annually. The fundraisers include:

Jones the Florist – Charity in Bloom
During the month of February and just in time for Valentine’s Day, Jones the Florist will donate 10% of each purchase of its featured “Passionate About Flowers” bouquet to the Cincinnati Arts Association’s education programs. The featured bouquet can be purchased at jonestheflorist.com, (513) 961-6622, or any Jones the Florist location. http://www.jonestheflorist.com/cgi-bin/jones2cat-dba.cgi/PCharityInbloom

Hoxworth Blood Center – Bleed for a Cause
Blood donors can be twice as nice in February by giving blood for local patients and earning money for their favorite charities at the same time! More than 60 local nonprofits are competing to see who can score the most points by recruiting blood donors. Bleed for a Cause is sponsored by Montgomery Inn and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America. Thanks to their generosity and commitment to the community, this competition will reward the top three charities with direct financial support.

The Cincinnati Arts Association will earn points when its fans and friends mention “Cincinnati Arts Association” when giving blood. The charity with the most points will win $10,000 (second place wins $5,000 and third place wins $2,500)!

Points are tallied as follows: one point for a whole blood donation, two points for a double red donation, and three points for a “platelet” donation; a first time donor will earn the charity two bonus points.

For more information, a list of donor centers, or a list of participating charities, visit the Hoxworth Blood Center website at http://www.hoxworth.org/groups/cause.html.

Since the inception of its acclaimed arts education programs in 1995, CAA has reached more than 1.2 million students. These programs include:

· School Time: This series of nationally-recognized touring arts programs that entertain, educate, and support academic curriculum are presented for students at the Aronoff Center and Music Hall. For some students, this is their first visit to a live performance and/or to these arts venues.

· Artists on Tour: The finest local teaching artists in the region are scheduled into schools to enhance learning with unique programs that vary in culture and art form.

· The Overture Awards: The nation’s largest, regional, annual high school arts scholarship competition, in which students compete in six disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theatre, Visual Art, and Vocal Music.
