Casting Call for Lead Roles in Independent Film on Sept. 23 & 26

Five Minutes Late Productions announces auditions for three lead roles in a feature-length, independent film: TWINK_S (a comedy).

Sunday, Sept. 23 and Wednesday, Sept. 26, 7-9 pm
8 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY 41075

Available roles, offered on a deferred-compensation basis:

  • KEVIN — M, late 20s. An underachieving entrepreneur, perpetually searching for his ‘big break.’ Grounded and intense at times, he is nevertheless playful and generally patient. His inventor’s spirit is more a defense mechanism than any real direction. Athletic build a plus.
  • GRANT — M, late 20s. Kevin’s friend. One of the world’s innocents. Often single-minded or hyper focused on things that seem trivial to others, he is enthusiastic about life if also a tad oblivious. Prone to daydreaming.
  • BEATRICE JANE (BJ). F, late 20s. Grant’s love interest. The bartender/owner. Tough exterior; strong and capable, but not invulnerable. A somewhat reluctant owner, she inherited the bar from her father. Must play against character type in Grant’s dream sequences.

Bring resume, headshot and schedule limitations from Nov. 2-Dec. 2.
Cold readings from the script (no prepared monologues).
Shooting will begin in November.

NOTE: In addition to the roles listed above, we will also need to fill a few small roles and support positions on a volunteer basis. Extras will also be needed.

If you have questions or are interested in getting involved, please contact the director, Ron McDermott, rm@esatti.net.

BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS
Presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
Oct. 13-Nov. 10
Eden Park

Reviews: Enquirer | CityBeat |

From one of comedy’s all-time masters comes this delightful coming-of-age story. It’s 1937, and 15-year-old Eugene Morris Jerome lives in close quarters with his extended family. While the daily dramas of his parents, brother, cousins and aunt swirl around him, Eugene spends his days dreaming of playing for his beloved Yankees … when he’s not thinking about girls or setting the table for dinner. Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play is a heartfelt love letter to his own Jewish childhood and proof that family harmonies and disharmonies transcend time and place.

Showboat’s THE MUSIC MAN Earns LCT Recommendation

The citizens of River City. Photo by Holly Yurchison.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Showboat Majestic’s THE MUSIC MAN as a recommended production.

This classic American musical follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef.

Panelists praised the production as “delightful,” “high-energy” and “enthusiastic,” with innovative choreography and staging using the Showboat stage to its full potential.

THE MUSIC MAN continues through September 30th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.cincinnatilandmarkproductions.com/sbm.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. LCT provides its member companies and individual members with education, resources and services to enhance the quality and exposure of the theatre community in Cincinnati and increase community awareness, attendance and involvement. More information about the League can be found at www.leagueofcincytheatres.com.
