KTC Presents KNOW THEATRE CITY BEAT NYE SPEAKEASY PARTY

Annual fundraiser features casino gaming, dancing, costumes, food, and champagne toast

KTC_NYE Speakeasy PartyThis New Year’s Eve, get your fedoras and flapper dresses ready for the 7th Annual Know Theatre CityBeat NYE Speakeasy Party! Attendees can look forward to raucous back room games, tasty appetizers, and two bars serving up classic martinis, and a champagne toast at midnight! Entry to the event is $15 in advance and $25 beginning December 24 at noon. All proceeds support Know Theatre of Cincinnati’s mission of creating a playful artistic community where artists can collaborate and grow. This December 31, the party starts at 8pm and jazzes away into the New Year, or until 1am.

Sponsored by CityBeat, this annual celebration is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. With coppers cracking down on the bootleggin’ be sure you’re not followed to the secret speakeasy and get ready to party like its 1923. When the clock strikes midnight, a live feed of Times Square will take over the big screens on both floors, and everyone can enjoy a free champagne toast, but remember not to be too loud as a cop raid could happen at any moment. The jail house is no place to spend the most happenin’ night of the year! Our bartenders will be servin’ up Manhattans, Sidecars, and Martinis to all you dappers and dolls! Join in on the buzzin’ games of Black Jack, Roulette, and Red Dog Poker, but don’t bet all of your clams in one place! Our DJ upstairs will keep the swingin’ tunes going and the live band downstairs will help you feel the love with your sweetheart at midnight!

Last year, the Know Theatre CityBeat NYE SpeakEasy was the New Years event to beat. Over 350 people attended and had a roarin’ good time! CCM’s A MOVEABLE FEAST Returns on Jan. 18, 2013

CCM_MoveableFeastBack by popular demand, this unique benefit event showcases students from UC’s College-Conservatory of Music in an evening of live entertainment
and by-the-bite cuisine.

CINCINNATI, OH—Cincinnati’s premiere fundraiser returns in early 2013 when the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) presents “A Moveable Feast!” The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, and this year’s “Feast” celebrates the theme “A Star is Born.”

A star-powered showcase of CCM’s world-class performing and media arts programs and state-of-the-art facilities, the fundraiser features samplings of artistic and culinary delights throughout CCM Village. Guests can enjoy backstage tours and plan their own schedule of 20-minute samplings of student entertainment, including Jazz, Musical Theatre, Piano, Opera, Drama, Dance, Orchestra and Chamber Winds performances, along with E-Media video productions and much more. This year’s artistic menu also includes a performance by CCM’s Steel Drum Band and entertainment by local CCM Alumni.

The evening’s program will begin in Corbett Auditorium with a prelude performance featuring the Jazz Ensemble and dancers from CCM’s Musical Theatre program. The “Feast” will conclude with a performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Cocktails and dinner-by-the-bite provided by Jeff Thomas Catering will be served throughout the evening. RP Announces Auditions for RADIO SUSPENSE THEATER

RP_logoRivertown Players, Inc. Proudly Announces Auditions for RADIO SUSPENSE THEATER, written by Steve Cleburg and directed by Carla Zell.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 9th at 6:00pm at Hamline Chapel, High and Vine Streets, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.

This comical and touching tribute to the golden era of radio features a group of performers from the 1940s who prepare to present their weekly radio program. The behind-the-scenes lives of the performers become tangled together as they present the two mysteries.

Roles available for 6-8 men and 7-9 women, ages 15 and up.

The cast calls for someone who plays piano, someone to perform sound effects on stage, two singers, and several performers who can execute multiple accents.

The show is slated for a March production, exact dates TBD.

Faculty Position Available in Costume Technology, Indiana University

IU_logoIndiana University’s Department of Theatre and Drama seeks applications for a full-time, twelve month, Professor of Practice in Costume Technology to join an active and collaborative Design & Technology faculty. This faculty member will create a new MFA track in Costume Technology and will be responsible for building program, developing curriculum, teaching, participating in departmental production program, and recruiting three fully funded MFA students. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in areas of period dressmaking, menswear/tailoring, understructures and pattern development. This position will teach two courses per semester at the graduate and upper division undergraduate levels, mentor graduates in costume technology and serve as a lead cutter/draper on two productions per academic year. This faculty will be part of the production team for the Indiana Festival Theatre (IFT) which is the professional summer theatre company produced by the department.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a national profile in costume technology and significant professional theatre experience. Terminal degree and teaching experience also important. Terminal degree and/or major professional work required.

Salary is competitive, with startup and research funds available. Indiana University has an outstanding benefits package. Position hired on an initial three-year contract, renewable for a permanent, long-term contract.

The Department of Theatre and Drama houses three diverse performance spaces and comprehensive, modern and professional-level facilities. A NAST accredited department, IU recruits through URTA and faculty are actively involved in USITT, SETC and are members of USA local 829.
