SBP Announces Cast for SPRING AWAKENING

SBPCincinnati’s Showbiz Players announces the cast for the regional community theater premiere of “SPRING AWAKENING, the multiple Tony-winning musical based on one of the most controversial plays in theater history.

Jennifer McGuire and Jered Ryan share directing duties, with musical direction by Alan Masters and choreography by Jules Shumate. Bill Geraghty and Mark D. Motz will produce.

The cast features the following:

  • Adult Women – Michelle Grove Shaffer
  • Adult Men – Brian Berendt

“We’re grateful to all the people who came out and auditioned,” McGuire said. “There is a huge interest in performing this show and they gave us some difficult choices to make. I think we came up with an excellent cast that will really work well with this challenging material.”

“We’re excited to have this step finished,” Ryan said. “We’re look forward to the start of rehearsals in February and seeing this cast come together to make an amazing show.”

SPRING AWAKENING features book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, based on the play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. The show runs May 31 to June 8, 2013, at the Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center, 1028 Scott Blvd., Covingon, KY.

CCPA Announces Cast of BROADWAY BOUND

CCPAThe Covedale Center for the Peforming Arts has announced the cast for their upcoming production, BROADWAY BOUND by Neil Simon.

The cast features David Levy as Jack, Tracy M. Schoster as Kate, Tara Williams as Blanche, Bill Hartnett as Ben, Jason Endicott as Stan & Matthew Wilson as Eugene.

BROADWAY BOUND is part three of Neil Simon’s acclaimed autobiographical trilogy. The story finds Eugene and his older brother Stanley trying to break into the world of show business as professional comedy writers while coping with their parents break-up and eventual divorce. When their material is broadcast on the radio for the first time, the family is upset to hear a thinly-veiled portrait of themselves played for laughs.

TCP Announces Auditions for NUPTIALS

TCPTri-County Players auditions for the spring show, NUPTIALS by Judy Simpson Cook

Where : the Sharonville Fine Arts Center
When : Jan. 29, 30 at 7 pm

Cast : 5 men, 6 women, one female child age 7-10 [2 couples in their late twenties/early thirties, all other adults are 40’s plus.]

Character descriptions:

  • Caroline/Bride- polite, but is getting frustrated
  • Mark/Groom- nervous, and swayed by a friend
  • Jerry/ Grooms ’obnoxious friend
  • Kitty/Bride’s loud sister
  • Barbara/ Status conscious Mother of the Bride
  • Father, who’s footing the bill
  • Pushy Wedding Planner
  • Arty Florist
  • Down home inept Caterer
  • Faithful and insightful Housekeeper
  • Minister, very traditional
  • Quiet, sloppy Child who follows everyone around

Audition requirement: Cold readings from the script.

Show synopsis: Caroline is to marry her childhood sweetheart. Her mother is taking care of “every detail”. As the wedding gets closer, Caroline’s own wishes for her wedding seem to be ignored. The final straw is when Mark informs Caroline that his obnoxious best friend will be the best man. Finally Caroline has had enough and says “I’ve cancelled my part”. Nobody believes Caroline is serious about calling off the wedding and they continue with preparations. But when the strains of “here comes the bride” begin, will she?

Performance dates: – April 19, 20, 21 26, 27 in 2013

VP Announces Auditions for THE SISTERS ROSENWEIG

VP_logoThe Village Players announced auditions for their season closer, THE SISTERS ROSENWEIG by Wendy Wasserstein.
