Comedic Storyteller “Reverend Nuge” went to Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Detroit just to carry funny signs.  But a funny thing happened on the way to the Revolution – he started to believe in it.  The next thing you know he’s camping with crack addicts, marching with anarchists, burying a friend and writing this show.

In 1977 it was cool to be a multi-racial family if you lived in San Francisco, or New York…but we lived in Addyston, Oh. Not cool…and NOT O.K. Then my parents gave me the name Honour Pillow because I wasn’t going to stand out enough as the only curly headed, biracial giant at my school. Now I was a curly headed, biracial giant named Honour Pillow. Geesh. No ordinary life could follow this beginning. I would become a Model in New York, a Comedienne in Chicago, and a Cancer Patient in Las Vegas. Being biracial was the least of my worries.

Cincinnati Shakespeare’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Earns 2 LCT Nominations

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD with LCT nominations for lead actor (Bruce Cromer) and featured actress (Torie Wiggins) as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production.

In this adaptation of the beloved Harper Lee novel, set in a small town in Alabama in 1935, Scout and her brother Jem learn courage and compassion as their father, Atticus Finch, defends a young black man falsely accused of a crime.

Panelists praised Bruce Cromer’s portrayal of Atticus Finch as “sensational” and “strong enough to hold off the image of the iconic Gregory Peck.” Torie Wiggins as Calpurnia “did a great job of establishing her relationship with the children and her place as a black woman in the time period.” Overall, the panelists recommended the production as “terrific” and “worthy of coming out of your house, like Boo Radley”.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” continues through September 30th. Tickets can be purchased at www.cincyshakes.com.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. LCT provides its member companies and individual members with education, resources and services to enhance the quality and exposure of the theatre community in Cincinnati and increase community awareness, attendance and involvement. More information about the League can be found at www.leagueofcincytheatres.com.
