Cast Announced for THE TAMING at Village Players

VP_new logoJune 16th, 2022, Fort Thomas, KY— Village Players of Fort Thomas and director Betsy Bossart are excited to announce the cast of Lauren Gunderson’s THE TAMING, which runs for six performances September 30th – October 8th. The show opens the female-driven 2022-23 season in Village’s intimate lower-level blackbox theater.

About the show: Tweetering, pandashrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison — what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power-play” inspired by Shakespeare’s Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator’s aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause. Well, that and a semi-historically-accurate ether trip. Here’s lookin’ at you, America.

The cast:

  • Katie Jensen as Katherine/George & Martha Washington/Dolley Madison
  • Heather Abbott as Bianca/Intern/Charles Pinckney
  • Catherine Cook as Patricia/James Madison
  • Rachel Baker as Stage Manager/Miss America Announcer/Victoria “The Knife” Castelliano

Bossart is thrilled with the talent that showed up to audition for the show. “Of the quality actors we saw and decisions we’ve made, it’s this cast that’s best equipped to bring Gunderson’s fast-paced, sharp comedy to life,” she says. “I am so excited for Katie, Cat, Heather, and Rachel to collaborate and show the community how the ladies of The Taming get things done!”

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at villageplayers.org.

Season tickets, which include all four mainstage shows at a discounted rate, are on sale now for just $60.
