When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there’s more to this art form than playing pretend; it’s about finding yourself in your favorite songs, and performing with raw joy. Will Nina be able to let go and set herself free onstage? Following her mission to shred or be shredded, Airness is an exuberant reminder that everything we need to rock is already inside us. A comedy about competition, completion, and finding the airness inside yourself.

Auditions Announced for SHE KILLS MONSTERS at Village Players

VP_new logoVillage Players of Fort Thomas announces auditions for She Kills Monsters – an adventurous romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games!

Tuesday, Jan. 17 and Wednesday, Jan. 18, 7 pm in the street-level Judith M. Sarakatsannis Gallery of Fine Art at 8 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas. Virtual auditions will also be accepted if received by Jan. 15. (Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required with role offer.)

In-person auditions will consist of both cold readings and a prepared monologue or monologue-length story—using notes or a cheat-sheet is perfectly acceptable. Be prepared to list all conflicts between March 1–May 7. Resumé and headshot appreciated but not required. Advanced copies of sides available by texting the director, 513-505-6166.

Virtual auditions: send a video link of yourself performing a prepared monologue or monologues-length story no later than 11:59 pm Sunday, Jan. 15 to amylee1028@gmail.com. Attach resume and headshot. In the body of your email, include all conflicts March 1–May 7.

Rehearsals begin in early March. Show dates are April 28, 29, 30; May 4, 5, 6.

  • Miles: (M, 20s–30s) Agnes’s boyfriend, kind of plain/square.
  • Vera: (F, 30s–40s) guidance counselor, sarcastic and saucy.
  • Lilith: (F, to play a teenager) Dungeons & Dragons character, Demon Queen, kicks butt and takes names.
  • Kaliope: (F, to play a teenager) Dungeons & Dragons character, Dark Elf, sexy spell caster.
  • Orcus: (M, to play a teenager) Dungeons & Dragons character, Overlord of the Underworld, lazy demon.
  • Mage Steve: (M, to play a teenager) Dungeons & Dragons character, super nerdy spell caster.

The Passing of Dava Lynn Biehl

Dava Lynn Ledford Biehl, age 70, of Cincinnati, passed away on December 3, 2022 in Erlanger, KY. Dava was born in Mariemont, Ohio on August 3, 1952 to David Jonathan Ledford and Hazel Marie Irvin Edgington Ledford. After Dava graduated from Blanchester High School and The Ohio State University, she worked in education for many years as a counselor, foreign language teacher and principal. She was passionate about helping kids learn and grow.

After retiring from education, Dava pursued her love of travel, music, art, and theater. She was a devoted philanthropist of the arts. Dava found great joy and purpose in participating in community theater as an actress and a costumer. She performed in many plays at the Mariemont Players Theater and the Village Players of Fort Thomas. She even won an Orchid award for her costuming work on “Ring Round the Moon.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kay Edgington Monjar. She is survived by her stepson, Brandon Biehl; step-grandchildren, Eliana Biehl, Mackenzie Biehl, Isaiah Biehl, and Cara Biehl; brother, Kenen M. (Peggy) Edgington; niece, Lori (Pat) Brock; nephews, Nick Edgington, Todd (Amanda) Edgington, and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousin Tracie Bennett Doll, Tracie’s husband Matthew and their children Adrian and Andrew.

She will be missed by special friends Carol Abt, Patty Ballinger, Patti Dugger, Robyn Menuez, Karlee Hilliard, Niserine Langenbrunner, Peter Bartsch, Doris Bartsch, and Tom Chase. No service will be held as requested by Dava.

Village Players of Fort Thomas is a vibrant community theatre, continually producing plays and musicals for almost 60 years. Our productions range across a spectrum of periods and styles, presented in our intimate, three-quarter-thrust performance space in the heart of Fort Thomas, Kentucky. We stage innovative and of-the-moment works alongside beloved classic pieces while serving as an incubator for new talent, ideas, and writing. Each season features four mainstage shows, including a family-friendly winter production, as well as a summer production of original short plays produced by the New Works branch of the group.

Village Players Director Call 2023-2024

VP_new logoDirectors Needed for 2023-24 Season!

Village Players of Fort Thomas is now accepting directing applications for our 2023-24 season! For nearly 60 years, Village Players has produced plays and musicals in the heart of Fort Thomas. Our theater is an intimate three-quarter thrust stage, immersing audiences in the magic of community theatre.

In keeping with our mission of striving to appeal to a broad audience, Village Players will be producing a Fall Show, a Holiday Show, a Winter Show, and a Spring Show. Exact production dates for this 2023-24 season to be determined at a later date.

Please see below for a list of plays that are under consideration by Village Players for the 2023-24 season. We encourage you to read any or all the plays under consideration. It is not necessary to read all the plays to apply.
To apply, please submit a directing resume and application available here​. Applications should be submitted to info@villageplayers.org by Monday, January 2, 2023. Interviews will be held via Zoom on Saturday January 7, 2023.​​
