Auditions Announced for February Sketch Comedy Show at The Company

TCO_logoThe Company Sketch Comedy Group is planning our first show of 2018: February 3rd at Church Venture in Maineville. And we need performers!

So come out to audition! Auditions will be on Sunday, January 7th, 1:30-4:00, in the North Central Branch Library Meeting Room (11109 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45231). Auditions will take the form of cold readings from the selected sketches and, as always, are open to anyone interested. Headshots/resumes are not necessary.

If you cannot be at auditions (or can’t be there the whole time, or will be late, or whatever), just let us know and we will work something out if we can.

Rehearsal dates and times will be based on the availability of the performers, but will likely be 6 total rehearsals between January 14th and February 1st.  Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Seeking Additional Performers for THE STING at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTDirector Fred Hunt and The Drama Workshop are looking for a few talented performers to round out the cast for the May 2018 production of THE STING.

Based on the 1973 film, THE STING comes to the Glenmore Playhouse stage!  The strains of jazz, swing and stride spill from every bar and fill the airwaves of Chicago. It’s 1936 and confidence trickster Johnny Hooker is set on revenge for the murder of his friend by powerful and dangerous mobster, Doyle Lonnegan.  Teaming up with the greatest con artist of them all, Henry Gondorff, together they plot to pull off The Sting, an outrageous and elaborate con trick designed to rob Lonnegan of his fortune.

There are opportunities for named speaking roles and ensemble players, many of these roles will likely be combined.

Specific roles to be filled:

  • Luther – an older street-working con man on the verge of retirement
  • Conductor – organizes and runs a high stakes poker game

Several other roles with few or no lines include: Granger, Fiskin, Man in Raincoat, Plain Clothes Cop, gambling parlor workers (male and female), FBI agents and dance hall girls.

Auditions Announced for LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical at Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre

GHCT_logoGreater Hamilton Civic Theatre and Director McLean Strickland are thrilled to announce auditions for the April 2018 production of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL.

Auditions will take place Saturday, Jan. 6 and Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 from noon-4pm. Auditions and callbacks will be at the Creative Center at the Palace, 215 S. Third St., Hamilton, Ohio 45011.

Performances will be at Parrish Auditorium on the Miami University Hamilton campus at 8 p.m. April 26-28 and 2 p.m. April 29, 2018.

Rehearsals will begin during the first week of February and will be three to four nights a week.

Auditions preparation:
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song that best shows off your vocal strengths and personality. You may be asked to complete a small movement sequence so bring comfortable clothing you can dance in.

Seeking:
All roles are available. No roles have been pre-cast, other than our canine roles.

Elle Woods – (Gb2-G5 Soprano Belt) – Elle is a very bubbly college-age girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more than just a pretty face and a bubbly personality to offer the world! She is very lovable, determined, vulnerable, energetic and outgoing! A true triple threat, tap dance skills are a plus. Must be comfortable with dogs.

Emmett Forrest – (B2-A4 Tenor) – Emmett is a smart, quirky, sensitive and personable law student. He ends up taking Elle under his wing and believes in her when it seems that no one else does. A strong singer/actor with great comedic timing!

Paulette Buonofuonte – (A3-A5 Soprano Belt) – Paulette is the funny owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She becomes friends with Elle and longs to marry a man from Ireland. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! Must be comfortable with dogs. A Bostonian accent is a plus, a strong singer with a powerful belt to match the personality!

Pilar, Margot, Serena – (G#3-F5 Belt) – Pilar is the sassy and sensible sorority sister. Margot is the seemingly dim-witted, boy-crazy sorority sister. Serena is the energetic cheerleader, from Jewish heritage, sorority sister. Margot, Serena, & Pilar are Elle’s entourage who follow her through the story acting as her “Greek Chorus”. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy!

Professor Callahan – (A2-F#4 Baritone) – Callahan is a pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. Callahan should be charismatic but able to turn instantly into a conniving shark at the turn of a hat.

Warner Huntington III – (Eb3-Ab4 Tenor) – Warner is attractive and charming but very self-absorbed. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a senator, including breaking Elle’s heart.

Vivienne Kensington – (A3-F5 HUGE Soprano Belt) – Vivienne is an overachieving, stuck-up, wealthy, smart and savvy law student who is intellectually driven. Yet she feels very threatened by Elle’s presence at Harvard.

Brooke Wyndham – (A3-G5 Alto or Soprano) – Brooke is an exercise video star and former Delta Nu sorority girl who was accused of murder. Being physically fit is a must for this role, to properly do high level aerobics with enough stamina to continue singing. Must be able to jump rope while singing.

Kyle B. O’Boyle – (no vocal requirement) – Kyle is a physically fit, smooth-talking UPS deliveryman. We soon find out that he is Paulette’s dream guy. Actor will play another role in Act I. Must be comfortable with dogs.

Enid Hoops – (G3-G5 Soprano Belt) – Enid is a strong, opinionated, feminist law student at Harvard. Great comedic timing!

Ensemble: Ensemble actors will portray many different roles. Many wonderful opportunities in the ensemble. Roles include: students, customers, inmates, parents, courtroom members, and many other fun bit roles. Ensemble members will be used throughout the entire production. Must be true triple-threats.

Accounting Manager Sought by Cincinnati Opera

Cincinnati Opera, a non-profit and the nation’s second oldest opera company, is seeking an Accounting Manager to perform, supervise, and evaluate day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, verifying, and reporting information, as well as ongoing oversight of the company’s strategic partners’ financial activities, and working closely with all team members and the Board’s Finance and Investment Committees. This position reports to the CFO.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager will consist of managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including month and year-end processing, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, assisting CFO with the budget process, cash flow management, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, trust account statement reconciliations (endowment funds), monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements, and coordinate the annual audit. Employee will support proper accounting methods and policies, strive to ensure compliance and accuracy, and establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.

Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 3 or more years of professional experience. A CPA is preferred. Conceptual thinking; analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; along with a high attention to detail and problem solving skills are a must. Progressive computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases, an ability to manipulate large amounts of data during our summer performance season, and a deep knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations are critical. Previous supervisory experience and an ability to direct is key.

Mason Players Seeking Directors for 2019

MCP_logoCalling all directors! The Mason Community Players, the longest continuously operating communty theatre group in Warren County, is excited to start laying out our 2019 Season, and we want YOU to be a part of it!

We are looking at producing 5-6 shows in our 2019 season (this includes a major musical in the summer) in our home at Theatre 42 and are looking for directors who have the passion and creativity to make those shows come to life.  Our hope is to provide offerings throughout the year that will attract a variety of participants and viewers.

In particular, 2019’s summer musical will look to be a family/child friendly production.

Those interested should complete the Google form found at https://goo.gl/forms/gd3hyIzXZm2TMi2l2 for EACH SHOW that you are proposing for the year and submit by Sunday, October 8th.  The board will review proposals during the October 9th and November 1st board meetings.
