trueTHEATRE Seeks Stories for trueDATING

TRUE_logoTrue Theatre is looking for stories from your dating life for “trueDATING” (show date: Monday, April 14, 2014)

First date stories… blind date stories… the most romantic… the most cheesy… From the best to the worst, we all have stories about that date we were on that went from the unknown to a story from our lives. What’s yours?

True Theatre is producing trueDATING, which will run for one night only on Monday, April 14 at the Know Theatre in downtown Cincinnati. They are now making appointments with people to hear their true, personal, DATING-related stories for possible inclusion in the show.

Appointments will be for Saturday, March 15 or by arrangement.

If you have a story you would like True Theatre to consider for this show, reach out to them at truetheatre.com/contact.html or by writing stories@truetheatre.com. They will work with you to set an appointment and provide directions.

On the night of the show, stories will be expected to fit into a 10-15 minute time window and be told without notes. For the initial appointment, it is hoped, but not mandatory, that candidates can come close to these constraints. Unique approaches to the theme are welcome. Stories may be funny or serious. All stories are welcome for consideration!

Of the stories submitted, True Theatre will select five (5) for the show which fit the theme, have a good structure, and which balance nicely against the other stories selected.

If your story is selected for the show, you will be expected to work with True Theatre to find time to participate in 1 – 3 rehearsals (as needed) and then participate in the show.

More details about True Theatre’s selection process can be found at http://www.truetheatre.com/auditions.html.

Another show that True Theatre is producing this season (and for which they are looking for storytellers) is:

Monday, July 28, 2014 – trueBLOOD

[All shows are at 7:30PM]

If you have a story that you think fits the theme of DATING or BLOOD or just have one that you gotta share, reach out to TrueTheatre by the methods listed above.

trueVACATION on Jan. 13

TRUE_trueVacationtrueVACATION
Presented by trueTHEATRE
Jan. 13
Over-the-Rhine

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to work: trueVACATION! Join us on Monday, January 13th for a reminder that vacations are often great to look forward to, but often fail to meet expectations. Hear from a man who sought the quintessential college experience but who maybe looked a little too hard, a woman who forgot that free things often come with a price, an actor who was riding high – at least for a little while, a man who can put Chevy Chase’s “Vacation” experience to shame, and a woman seeking enlightenment but found something a bit more personal instead. Join us for a reminder that sometimes we could all use a vacation… from vacations!

The mission of True Theatre is to bring together a wide variety of people to share stories in an effort to create community, encourage discussion, and remind everyone that ALL of us have stories to tell with unique insights and broad appeal. Though storytelling can take on many forms, True Theatre realizes that what great stories have in common are their power to hold attention, slow time, and capture the imagination. They may redden cheeks, make eyes water, and elicit eruptions of laughter. They take you somewhere. Although great storytelling is not limited to true, personal stories, True Theatre believes that these real moments of our lives, from the mundane to the extraordinary, give both the speaker AND the listener the ultimate sense of being part of a larger community than they were aware. Come join us for an evening of True Theatre…where time slows down and we can listen.
