Auditions Announced for BEDROOM FARCE at Tri-County Players

TCP_logoTri-County Players announces auditions for Alan Ayckbourn’s BEDROOM FARCE directed by Dee Dunn and produced by Bob Hinman. Auditions Sunday January 24 7-9:30PM; Tuesday January 26 7-9:30PM at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center, 11165 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45241

BEDROOM FARCE is a comedy by Alan Ayckbourn that contains a melee of events involving certain philandering characters, all occurring within similar moments of one another. As the title implies, the play is an absurd and confusing farce, comparing and contrasting the differences between couples young and old, and the different troubles they encounter. The play takes place in three bedrooms during one night and the following morning. The cast consists of four married couples.

  • Ernest (60-ish) – bumbling and birdlike, set in his ways married to Delia, father of Trevor
  • Delia (60-ish) – self assured, married to Ernest, mother of Trevor
  • Nick (late 20’s to 40) – self indulgent but likable hypochondriac, spends the entire play in bed, married to Jan
  • Jan (late 20’s to 40) –capable, good hearted,  described as “jolly”, married to Nick, once dated Trevor
  • Malcolm (20-30) – playful newlywed, fancies himself a handyman, married to Kate
  • Kate (20-30) –playful newlywed, married to Malcolm
  • Trevor (late 20’s t0 40) –described as spoilt, self-pitying, married to Susannah, once dated Jan
  • Susannah (late 20’s to 40) – needy, lacks self confidence, married to Trevor

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. All roles will require an English accent.

Performance Dates:  April 22, 23, 29, 30, May 1

Rehearsals will probably be on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday nights

Local Director Stages BIRDS, His Modern Adaptation of Ancient Greek Play at Tri-County Players

TCP_Birds logoImagine if Benny Hill took a break from running around to “Yakety Sax” to direct an ancient Greek comedy. How absurd — how amazing — would that be? Probably as mind-blowing as BIRDS, Burt McCollom’s hilariously inspired adaptation of Aristophanes’ play The Birds.

Combining the pop culture savvy of Shrek and the manic energy of Hee Haw, this deliciously over-the-top comedy follows two humans (think Abbott and Costello) who flee the world of lawyers, politicians and taxes in search of a simpler life. They concoct a crazy plan to build a city in the clouds, a realm ruled by the Birds, which forces both man below and gods above to do their bidding.

Be there as the Tri-County Players perform this brilliant and energetic re-imagining of one of the theater’s most enduring comedies.

Performance will be at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center 11165 Reading Rd Cincinnati, Oh 45241 on October 9, 10, 17 and 18 at 8:00 PM and Sunday October 11 at 3:00 PM.
