Actor Needed for George in THE PHILADELPHIA STORY at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop is in immediate need of an actor to play the role of George in The Philadelphia Story.

George is between the ages of 25-35 and is the fiancé of the play’s central character Tracy Lord.  He is a working class guy who is a natural leader and has a dynamic personality. He is the third point in a love triangle that occurs on the eve of Tracy and George’s wedding.

Rehearsals are underway for the production which runs October 5-22 at TDW’s home, the  Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Ave., Cheviot, OH 45211.  Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday thru Thursday evenings.  Scheduling accommodations can be made.

The Drama Workshop’s final weekend of performances of Egad! The Woman in White will begin with a Thursday evening performance at 7:30 p.m. on August 23.  Tickets will be $15 for this performance only!  Who will win the day? The plucky heroine and her art instructor boyfriend?  “Sweet Marian” or “Queen Victoria”? The wiley villain or the equally wiley villainess?  Fire, snow and ten musical acts – all in one evening of hilarious action!  Don’t miss Egad! The Woman in White!

Egad! The Woman In White features the talented Linda Abbott, Stefanie Adams, Peggy Allen, Ann Barfels, Victoria Covarrubias, Aaron Ellis, Elizabeth Hickerson, Victoria Kirby-Schwarber, Stephanie Klein, Alan Kootsher, Larry Mills, Kent Smith and Joe Ward and is directed by Marchia Hunley.

Additional performances are on Friday and Saturday evening at 8 p.m. and at 2:00 on Sunday.

A Classic Melodrama Opens TDW Season

Cheviot, OH – The Drama Workshop’s 2018-19 season will begin with performances of Tim Kelley’s EGAD! THE WOMAN IN WHITE, a comedic melodrama to be performed August 10-26. Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., with a special Thursday evening performance on August 23 at 7:30 p.m. Performances will take place at The Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Ave., Cheviot, OH 45211. Tickets may be purchased by calling the TDW ticket line at 513-598-8303 or ordering online at http://www.thedramaworkshop.org.

EGAD! THE WOMAN IN WHITE by American playwright Tim Kelley is a comedic send up of the classic English Victorian melodrama The Woman in White by Andrew Wilke.  The play features both a male and a female villain who conspire to lock a young wife in the madhouse in order to steal her vast fortune. The villain is afraid of only one thing – the mysterious Woman in White – a ghostly figure who seeks him out in order to point an accusing finger at him. Who will win the day – the villains or the virtuous?  You’ll find out who while also enjoying period musical performances between the scenes.

The EGAD! cast includes Drama Workshop veterans and newcomers under the direction of Marcha Hunley. The cast includes Peggy Allen, Ann Barfels, Victoria Covarrubias, Aaron Ellis, Elizabeth Hickerson, Victoria Kirby-Schwarber, Stephanie Klein, Alan Kootsher, Larry Mills and Joe Ward playing his second villain at TDW.  Audiences will also be serenaded by musical acts performed by Gretchen Adams, Stefanie Adams and Kent Smith. Linda Abbott serves as the musical director. The play is produced by Valeria Amburgey, Dennis Murphy and Elaine Volker.

Shows at The Drama Workshop frequently sell out, so making reservations early is strongly recommended.

This laugh-oriented, old-fashioned melodrama is wild, fast, and funny. It features a disreputable (and hilarious) villain who dispatches his adversaries with nefarious ease, seals his wife in a madhouse to steal her vast fortune, and battles a wicked countess in one of the most uproarious fight scenes ever staged. When all else fails, he engineers mock funerals. But he’s scared of the mysterious “Woman In White” who’s escaped from the asylum to seek him out. Abandoned wives, insolent servants, lawyers, hypochondriacs, and manly drawing masters parade across the stage in gales of comedy, terminating only when the villain is brought to justice in an audience-cheering, outrageous, and spectacular finale.
