Mason Players Present THE CEMETERY CLUB

You don’t want to miss the first show of MCP’s 2025 “Spirited” Season.

The Cemetery Club, a story seemingly about death, is in fact about relishing life, and cherishing the loves and the friendships along the way.

Performances are:

Three Jewish widows and long-time friends meet once a month for tea, then visit their husbands’ graves. Things are going along swimmingly until the arrival of Sam, a shy butcher whose deceased wife is buried in the same cemetery as their husbands. The friendships become strained when a love triangle develops. The cast includes Bob Brunner, Mary Beth Benken-Riesenberg, Lisa Breithaupt, Bob Brunner, Leslie DeVoe, and Susan Deyo. These skilled performers breathe life into this touching portrait of lives changed by loss.
The show is being directed by Ray Lebowski, produced by Tess Catlin, and stage managed by Dana Davis.

Auditions Announced for BLITHE SPIRIT at Mason Community Players

Auditions for Blithe Spirit, the second show of Mason Community Players’ 2025 Season, will be on January 25th and 26th, from 2pm to 5pm at the Mason Community Playhouse.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The show is set in the mid-1930’s in England. Accents are not required for auditions but a willingness to learn for the show is needed. An accent coach will be part of the show’s crew.

A smash comedy hit, this much-revived classic concerns cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine who has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira, who is called up by a visiting medium, the eccentric Madame Arcati. Clever, insistent, and well aware of Charles’ shortcomings, Elvira clashes with Charles’ current wife, Ruth, who is not about to give him up without a fight creating a ghostly affair of the heart

The characters include:
Edith – a maid in training, eager to please, age: 20+
Ruth – Charles’ current wife, practical and sensible, age: 40+
Charles – Writer, husband to Ruth and, before her death, Elvira, egotistical and arrogant, age: 40+
Dr. Bradman – Friend and family doctor, kindly, age: 40+
Mrs. Bradman – Dr. Bradman’s wife, friend, kind but thoughtless, age: 40+
Madame Arcati – Psychic, confident and determined, age: 40+
Elvira – Charles’ deceased first wife, physically attractive and seductive, age: 30+

Blithe Spirit  will be presented April 25th through May 3rd. The show is being directed by Susan Berger, produced by Eric Grimm, and stage managed by Dana Davis.

Mason Community Players Kickoff 2025 with a Fundraiser

Mason Community Players will host a fundraiser to die for at the Mason Community Playhouse on January 25th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and Concessions will be available before the murder mystery begins and during Intermission. During intermission, guests will be given the opportunity to participate in a Split the Pot Fundraiser with a twist; guess the murderer! The winner will be chosen from the container that bears the name of the character that actually “murdered Annie”! You’ve got to play to win- tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

So what is this show about? Annie was working late in the family run flower shop one night, when someone crept up behind her and murdered her. She is unable to move on until her family figures out who murdered her. It is up to the audience and her family to solve her murder. Was it her mother-in-law Violet? Was it her own sister Emma? Could it have been Iris her aunt-in-law or Lily her sister-in-law? Why was she murdered? Jealousy, money, or both? As Annie roams the audience, be prepared for her ghostly presence to plead for help.

The Who Murdered Annie FUNdraiser is only the beginning of MCP’s Spooky Season of 2025.

Next up will be The Cemetery Club in February and March, followed by Blithe Spirit in April and May, The Pirates of Penzance in July, The Haunting of Hill House in October and November; the season will wrap up in December with Welcome to Our House for Christmas. Cast Announced for THE CEMETERY CLUB at Mason Community Players

Director Ray Lebowski and Producer Tess Catlin are excited to announce the cast of MCP’s first show of the 2025 Season.

Mason Community Players Present an Agatha Christie Classic, THE MOUSETRAP

Mason Community Players is the oldest continually operating community theater organization in Warren County, OH. The group operates and performs at the Mason Community Playhouse, located at 5529 Mason Rd. in Mason, OH. Since its creation in 1973, the Mason Community Players has brought more than 120 productions and 30 original musical reviews to audiences in Mason, Ohio. More importantly, the group has become a family for the community, involving people of all ages on stage, backstage, and as spectators.

The Mousetrap premiered in London in 1952 and remains to this day the longest running play in the world, despite having to close briefly from 2020 to 2021. It was originally written by Agatha Christie as a birthday present for Queen Mary. A classic whodunit mystery, join seven strangers as they get stranded together and become completely adrift when a murder is revealed. When a police detective arrives, see if you can figure out the murderer before the unsuspecting victims.

With over 29,500 performances to date, this play is not one to be missed. Director Susan Berger and Producer Robert Terry welcome you to the Mason Community Playhouse this November 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23 at 8 pm and Sunday, November 17 at 2 pm for a story crafted by the Queen of Mystery herself. With a cast that celebrates members both old and new, they will spin a tale of murder that will leave you dazzled.
